Poly Vs Riv Direct

So I had a similar dilemma. I already own 150 direct VGF but wanted to add more. Then my guide left me a VM about buying right before my UY comes up and I can roll those points over and pay the prorated annual dues. But I had a time crunch.

I’ve never stepped foot in the Riviera though my son did this last Christmas trip. He liked what he saw. I showed my wife YouTube videos because she’s never seen it either aside from our times in the Skyliner. Her response: Poly. And she knows nothing about restrictions.

So I bought Poly. While I don’t plan on selling these contracts I can’t say my kids won’t. We love Poly and it was the restrictions that swayed me.

My wife also said poly when going through it. So that’s the plan!

I disagree on transportation. The monorail from Poly to Epcot is not quick ( the ride itself assuming no wait for the next monorail and excluding the walk is more than 2x longer) People forget how far Epcot is from MK.

When it comes to the bus , RIV has direct busses Poly is on a bus loop. It is a much more premium experience using the bus at RIV.

Poly can be a madhouse in busy season ( most of the year) RIV is much calmer.

Do you think the bus system will change to a loop once the resort is sold out and no need to attract new buyers? I really hope the service doesn't go down

Literally my big concern about Riviera. It is one of those hidden benefits, having a dedicated bus with such a nice bus enclosure. I would have to say if I ran the bus system it makes more sense to combine it with CBR. However, what may save us is I really think Aruba’s gonna be replaced with a RIV 2. There’s too much of a gap between now and 2042 to not have an Epcot resort for sale. I think that would make sense to expand RIV and put in a spa and an additional quick serviceunder the new tower.

Do any of the dvc resorts share buses with moderate? Would love a spa and it would ease the difficulty in getting rooms once resale can only book there, which would go against one of my arguments of Riv retaining value in the other thread 🥴

Wilderness Lodge shares with Ft Wilderness at times for certain parks.

In terms of RIV, I don’t see them combining with CBR, too many stops.

Now, if they turn Aruba into a RIV 2, I think it will have a combined stop, but other than that, I’d don’t see it, especially since the Skyliner takes you to two parks so buses are only needed for two plus Disney Springs.

Every resort is going to have resale restrictions long term. Additionally we are fast approaching 2042 where people possibly in 2030 start to think "gee all these resorts I can trade to are leaving DVC for my resale points".

I did the math on it in the past but a good portion of points for resale resorts are going to be in locations not next to the parks in the future.

I imagine once they’ve knocked down the rest of Caribbean beach to build DVC, RIV will have a big loop of 5 or 6 stops 😉

If that occurred we might actually get a 3rd entrance at Epcot through the Africa pavilion with a bridge.

My hope was they would take CBR and transform it in to "Europe" with a bunch of different resorts themed after different countries (Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Northern France, Netherland). You could then take that entrance make it almost like main street with smaller countries each getting their own shop space instead of a whole land.

I do hope they do a Yacht Club Tower instead but the chances for RIV2 are higher.

I'm thinking DVC builds a BCV tower between BCV and the international gateway entrance at Epcot - studios with Epcot TPVs will go for 80 points a night but I would still buy a fixed week.

Also nice. But they won’t add on to BCV because there are not enough years remaining. This is why I went with YC but a new association on the other side of BCV would of course also be an option.

My take on the original question.
Nobody ever buys with the intention of selling.... but then life happens.

If you enjoy both resorts equally, I'd probably go with Poly. Worst case scenario, it'll be easier to sell should the occasion arise. Also if renting your points was ever needed, I think Poly rents better.

If deep down you prefer Riviera, go with that. Buy where you want to be.

If a BCV tower happens (probably not), I would expect it to be new (part of the Trust?) with a reset 50 year expiration date.

My fantastical ideas about new resorts don't belong in this thread so this will end my waste of bandwidth here.

I think Beach Club Tower will occur close to the end of BCV expiration. Have it completed in 2037, then in 2042 roll existing BCV into the towers association
