WDW “Content Creators” Invading DLR

So really, it all comes down people creating content in the park which is obviously for their channel = not wanted. It does not matter if the person has a small channel low numbers of subscribers and just a hobby content creator or if the personal is a full time content creator and monetizing their content. Its the act of creating content that people have an issue with.

What I can say, with absolute certainly, when fellow park guests around you are all asking that you stop, you are being disruptive and diminishing the enjoyment of others. Do you think you should then stop?

I don't think anyone has a problem with this statement. If someone is being disruptive of course we'd all like it to stop. I think what the problem here is that the core issue seems to be the statement that content creators actively filming in the parks are a problem -- but at the same time nearly every person in the parks ALSO has a camera and is filming all the time, so aren't they causing the same problem? Regular guests do the same behavior that content creators might be doing such as talking while filming, holding up cameras high in crowds blocking views, using lights/flashes in dark rides or at night, etc.

So I think this is more a behavior problem and not a group of certain people problem. Would love to see some of those behaviors better addressed, because they definitely are decreasing enjoyment of those around them, whether they are content creators or anyone else.

How can anyone possibly answer in absolutes like that? Trick question, the answer is simple. No one can.

lol
You should be a politician

While you as a guest can ask for a live stream or someone filming fireworks to stop but if they didn't cut you and were there before you and film the show...thats how it goes.

Also just so everyone is aware because I go a lot, if you go to main street you will see 100's of people from the castle down the street filming....maybe 1% of these people are Vloggers/live streamers the rest are normal people just holding up phones. So like another poster said, this is an issue with behavior not just a group. So if you Think Disney is going to try to just tell everyone no filming at least the show's, I think its a fight they don't want to have

My thoughts are unless you are breaking rules or going out of your way to ruin the magic then you should be able to film, doesn't matter if your blogging, videoing for your family, doing face time, Live streaming doesn't matter as long as you don't try to ruin it for others but there are many people to me that can also be ruining the fun who are just guests like

Dad holding kids on there shoulders blocking the views others, people will Balloons and other items that just keep lighting up and 99% of these people can ruin a show and they are just guests

I honestly cannot relate to the content creators. I pride myself on being able to just put the phone away and enjoy the experience - whatever that experience is. Seriously, try it - the experience is so much better when viewed through your own eyes. Nobody wants to see your vacation videos.

You said you haven't see any...so why are you so against something you haven't seen with your eyes or experienced

It reminds me of when people were upset that drinking was allowed in the parks..said things would get worst and nope the parks are the same as always it isn't drunk people running around ruining your day

I have ZERO issues with people filming in the parks as long as they aren't like talking on rides, using flash/lightening or cutting the line. I go alot and see normal guests being just a rude if not worst then Vloggers and Live Streams. I'm not saying all are good but most are just fans who film the parks with almost no extra perks a few might get them but its far from normal even Freshbaked who everyone knows doesn't get into Media events for Disneyland

I just don't like people basically using scapegoats for why there trips got ruined not based on facts but things they made up in there heads.
Lastly I watch Live streams not just of Disneyland but other parks to see how they work, day to day and all that most to me seem like people just filming the parks and being normal respectful to them when there and I don't think Disneyland should just be for local...its one if not the best theme park in the world and sharing with everyone is nice...many of us are lucky and get to go but I don't want to take away that from those who are too poor or live across the world.

I would just like to have names then of channels to avoid but ts kinda a witch hunt saying they are all bad..then I bring up people I see at the parks weekly and people are like "not them" well then who? Who is running all these trips?
You have a YouTube channel, so you aren’t really an impartial poster here.

I will say I see way more random guests ruining things than “influencers.” When I’m on someone with their video light on in Haunted Mansion, or behind someone who puts kids on their shoulders and holds up a giant iPad in the air as the fireworks starts, that’s always some rando visitor.

There are also content creators who are people with completely non-monetized Disney photography social media accounts. They will totally spend a TON of time at meet and greets, and a lot of performers know them and want their pictures, so that’s something that could interfere with a park guest, but it’s not an “influencer.” There’s zero profit in it for them.

There are good eggs and bad eggs in every group. I don’t think banning influencers/livestreamers would change the park that much.

Watch the home videos of say, Epcot from the 90’s that people have posted up on YouTube.

You’ll notice for the most part there isn’t much talking. Back then cameras were huge so the camera person had the be aware of their surroundings. Also, it wasn’t commonplace so (for the most part) people recording at the parks back then were aware of their surroundings and how their recording impacted others.

However, it was for home movies to share with family and friends. It wasn’t to try to build a brand or business or make money from it. Which is what people nowadays all want to do and which is why they can sometimes do questionable things or be annoying or in the way. And if you say you’re doing to to just share the parks with the public and not to make money or build a brand well… you’re many years too late and everything you have to offer is already available to see on YouTube.

Same with concerts and fireworks.

ruin the magic
Well now, do you think that I and the others that repeatedly asked her to turn off her light had our "magic ruined"?
It just so happened that our niece from Europe was with us for her first ever trip to Disney. Shall I ask her if that was a positive experience for her? (Not Disney as a whole but rather the idiot with the light shining over her head casting light on the trees to our right which then showed in her video and pictures) She too was filming on her iPhone but she didn't have her light on. She too called her parents back home but used air pods.

Quit being selfish.

Hypotheticals are a valid way to evaluate a future scenario and also a means to prevent one as well. I shouldn't wait until I'm faced with loud obnoxious people ruining my expensive vacation before voicing concern. The cost of the real vacation that is ruined because no one spoke up sooner won't be hypothetical money.
If you're going to allow your vacation to be ruined by "loud obnoxious people" you should probably avoid theme parks all together. A small percentage of people (not just “content creators”) are inconsiderate and you greatly increase your chances of finding them by going to a densely populated place.

I said that if someone cuts in front of a group of people trying to watch the show and uses lightening and blocks views that I'm not for it

The Parks have new events monthly and most of those have entertainment for example like in DCA the Band stage that can changed weekly and even daily the songs played can be different

Its cool we have a collection of more how the parks are now more then ever, I would die to be able to get some old first 20 years of Disneyland footage but its rare to get much from that time.

You may not see the value but others do and its why some of these live streams get 1000 of people on them watching at once.

Never said the issue was "loud". The persons flashlight on during a fireworks show was the issue, and not just mine so thanks for your red herring fallacy.

See bolded above.

That was discussing a hypothetical, hasn't yet happened. Guess what was also hypothetical? My reaction to it. I suppose it would depend on what was being loud and the content of it.

If obnoxious people don't bother you, I can safely conclude which character traits you probably have.

Same with concerts and fireworks.
And National Parks, and ski vacations, and weddings, and historical events, etc, etc, etc. I have no exceptions to this. In fact, I am in the process of helping DM clear out and sell her house. The photo albums that have accumulated through the generations are absolutely crushing us. I don't want any of it. Leave only footprints, take only memories - such a great way to live life.

Wow. A rather myopic view. Some of us enjoy visual memories. Some of us enjoy auditory memories as well. Anecdotally, it is a great soundbite, "Leave only footprints, take only memories". I cherish the pictures and video of my mom. My kids were/are too young to have known her but through those crushing images, the videos and my stories, they can at least feel like they knew of her, if not her in life.

Each to their own.

So instead of calling out/addressing inconsiderate behavior we should just avoid it? I don't agree with that logic . . .

Haven't read beyond page 1 (yet.) But I don't mind the content creators who don't disrupt people and also put out decent content that is informative.

What I get annoyed with are the live-streamers. The ones who are just on Tiktok or Instagram live non-stop. Narrating everything they do. And then tons of "thanks for the rose" and "double tap the screen" etc. etc. Very obnoxious.

I've seen them at both WDW and Disneyland.

This is the Disneyland forum. Can we keep the conversation in this thread focused on the Disneyland Resort?
