And I don’t like it! I’ve finally borrowed my last point to push for yet another trip but I need to add more days. I need at least double the allowed OTUP limit. What are my realistic options.

I ended up buying 50 points direct when this happened to me. The cost over resale hurt but I wanted the points ASAP so availability for that extra night wouldn't disappear.

What I'm doing now. Probably will buy again in 1-2 years if they build Reflections. They make it so easy to buy and see your points within an hour or so, and have it all perfectly fit with existing UY. I had half of the money earmarked to rent a few vacations, but trying to match up the right deal with the right UY has been exhausting. Each owner has different processes, and the brokerages charge too much. I would rather put that money into permanent, add-on points that I can use anywhere, anytime I want.

Could you rent a couple of days to add on?

I'm not quite in your shoes yet, but let's just say that 2026 ain't gonna be nearly as fun as 2025 :)

The closing costs, title insurance, months long resale process, and often stripped contracts make small resale contracts tough.
I can't imagine going through the pain of finding the perfect small contract and price, just to have Disney claim it through ROFR. Then back to square one.

I could always Swolphin it. But the prices they're asking makes me want to just throw it at a resale contract lol. How would one go about finding someone to sell transfer points. After OTUP I would probably need double that amount. Is this a thing? Is there a going rate? I see the days hanging there to add on to what I already have but I know they won't last forever! My goodness what a crazy addictive system we are a part of!

Go to the rent/transfer board, take a look at every ad that has points for rent that would work for you, and ask the poster if they would be willing to transfer instead. That’s what I used to do before I finally purchased “enough” points to not need to do that anymore.

We’ll be in the same boat as OP in 2027 with not having g points to bank and we really don’t want to start borrowing. I’m interested in how this whole transferring thing works
What is the difference between Thst and renting. Thanks

Then you will for sure always remember that $xx.xx dollars you spent at Swolphin that you could've out towards a new (to you) contract.

Right now I’m out of 2024 Sept UY points. We only have 22pts and 50pts coming in late 2025.

Welp that’s what we get for booking 2 studios for a week in November. Burned through 316pts on 1 trip with 4 people. It’s all good. Hoping to squeeze 5-6 nights from 50pts BW and possibility mixing with a couple nights VGF. Gives us a way to catch back up with a bonus: easier case to make for adding-on Poly… if some good incentives sprout up.

I like this way of thinking!

I'm also a big fan of extravagantly burning through points! Screw being miserly with DVC points!

When an owner transfers points to you, those points are placed in a temporary contract in your membership. You control those points, remembering they maintain their home resort and UY.

When you rent, you’re renting a reservation from an owner. That reservation is under control of that owner until you check in - they can cancel or modify it, you cannot. If you have requests for room location, etc., they have to submit those requests to MS. If you want to buy the Dining Plan, they have to call MS to buy it, and they have to pay for it with gift card or credit card numbers that you give them.
