Has anyone that lives in Ohio and has flown out of Cleveland on SW ever gone to Pittsburgh airport to save money? Someone at work was telling me that it is cheaper to go out of Pittsburgh instead of Cleveland. We live in Akron so about an hour from Clev and a little over an hour to Pittsburgh.

If you have done this was it worth it? Did you think the prices were lower? How is the airport(nice)? Is it something that you would recomend?

We are going to be looking for flights to go to WDW Easter of 2011 to see our son's marching band perform at Disney. I know it is more expensive that time of year so looking for the best deal.

Thanks:thumbsup2

I've never flown out of Cleveland, but I can tell you that the Pitssbugh airport is very nice. I have always flown out of PIT, but for some reason this year, our flights were much cheaper out of Columbus. (For 5 of us, it was a little over $400 cheaper, so it's worth the 2 hr drive to Columbus rather than the 1 hr drive to PIT)

I live in Pittsburgh and have found that SW's fares are higher now that US dropped their non-stop flights to MCO. Go on their website and compare prices. AirTran also flies non-stop PIT-MCO.

Easter 2011 will not be on SW's website for awhile.

When we lived in Akron, we flew once out of PIT to save $$. We also drove to Columbus to save $$. Both times we drove to the airport the night before and stayed in an airport hotel with free long term parking. I got great rates each time. BUT by the time I factored in the hotel et al, I probably could have flown out of CAK or CLE for almost the same amount. Now that we live closer to CLE, I'm looking at Toledo and Columbus.

We're going in spring 2011 to see our son march as well. :) Happy planning.

I've flown out of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Akron. I live right on the PA/OH line midway between all three. Usually flights out of PIT are less expensive than either Cleveland or Akron. Pittsburgh is a nice airport, easy to navigate. I've never had problems flying on Southwest from Pittsburgh.

We've flown out of both Columbus and Pittsburgh depending on which is cheaper. We also fly SW and Airtran. Cleveland has always been significantly more expensive (and fewer non-stop flights are available). We've consistantly gotten $77 one-way from both airports.

Personally I prefer Columbus b/c it's smaller than Pittsburgh.
