Hiya! Last trip, my family rope dropped 7DMT. We were at the rope by Tea Cups so immediately got on (I know procedures are different now). By the time we got to Peter Pan, there was a 40 min wait. I knew we would be at MK all day and also later in our trip so we skipped it.. We should have just done it because we ended up never having the opportunity to ride again. Now I’m on a mission to make sure we get on (I haven’t been on since I was a kid and now my five year old is making requests lol!) but not willing to skip 7DMT rope drop (also the 5yo’s must-do!).

My question is.. is the wait actually 40 mins like 10 mins after early entry begins? Im trying to learn from last time and maybe just jump in the line because it’s not actually 40 mins (I know sometimes early wait times are just a guess).

Also, thinking new procedures might make it harder to do this because now people are lining up at the ride from my understanding.

Will have LLMP, first tier prebook Tiana’s (again, that 5yo!) but I don’t want to buy a single pass for 7D. What are the odds Peter Pan will be available day of?

Lots of thoughts over here and looking for some advice, trip is first week of May! Thank you :)

Yes the line will be that long and possibly longer. PP is almost as popular as SDMT and it is a major RD attraction.

It is possible to get PP day of but the chances are slim as it’s a matter of scrolling and being the successful person if/when something comes up but I would not count on getting PP LL day of.

Riding SDMT and PP via standby means you will wait an extended period of time for one of the attractions. That being said, hopping in line for PP immediately after SDMT will likely be one of the shortest waits for that attraction all day based on Thrill-Data. The trade off is you will miss visiting many other attractions offering low waits first thing in the morning. E.g. PP will be less time but you might be able to hit 2-4 other attteactions while waiting in the PP line.

Personally I’d try for LLMP for PP and if successful, do Tiana via standby as that line often has shorter waits that PP.

Looking at the wait time for Peter Pan right now (8:55AM) and it's already 55 mins, and 7DMT is 80! And those times stay pretty consistent throughout the day.

Last time we went Tiana was still on a virtual queue so I haven't tested this personally but just looking at wait times randomly in the past few weeks - PP almost always has a longer standby wait than Tiana.
For our next trip in September, PP will be a priority for LLMP. But my daughter is not a fan of Tiana (she doesn't like any sort of drop ride) so that one is low on our list.

On average, when I happen to look at wait times, Tiana is usually around the 30mins mark - it's not that bad.

There’s an app called Lines WDW that has actual wait times, as opposed to Disney’s times which they fiddle with for crowd control. It’s made by the Touring Plans people. I’m not sure if it costs anything (the yearly membership fee isn’t much and it’s very useful) but it’s very handy.

Those things are no more accurate than Disney wait times. They're all predictions based on past experience. So someone reports that they just waited an hour for Peter Pan . . . all that means is that 1 hour ago - the wait was 1 hour. Doesn't tell you the wait for someone getting on line now.

Other than the very beginning of the day and the very end of the day - over 30 years of going I've found wait times on the aggregate are roughly accurate at Disney. People just tend to remember the times when they were way off and that usually results from things such as breakdowns or other crowd flow issues that can have peaks and valleys at random. If anything - most lines are slightly quicker than posted for obvious reasons that Disney would rather someone get on 10 minutes quicker than 10 minutes late for guest satisfaction purposes.

At the beginning of the day - wait times can vary by an hour at popular rides within 5-10 minutes because you have a tremendous number of people streaming into the ride all at once which you don't see any other time of day. So you won't find posted wait time to be accurate since it changes too fast. They anticipate the wait they think they're going to be at once the stream enters the queue. I've ridden PP at EE many times with a posted 45-50 minute wait just to get on in 5 minutes. But based on the line when I left the ride - it probably did get up to 50 minutes very quickly after I entered the line.

My experience with the lines app in Touring Plans is also that they tend to be more accurate than the posted Disney wait times. Nothing is 100% accurate but the TP subscription is easily worth the cost to me.

During the middle part of the day, the numbers are going to be roughly the same in both apps. For the first hour and the last hour or so, you'll see the biggest jumps because of the differences in how the wait times are computed. Also I'd wager Lines is more accurate during disruptions (weather, maintenance, etc.).

I’ve been using Lines for years and there’s definitely differences between the wait times there and in MDE. On my last trip 2 months ago MDE had a ride at 40 minutes or so but Lines had it at like 15, so we went there and they were right. Right now, MDE says jungle cruise is 50 minutes but Lines says 29. MDE says Peter Pan is 55 but Lines says 30. That’s a big difference and lot of time saved and Id bet Lines is correct.

Sure, I mean that's ancedotal, obviously, since you aren't there currently to confirm. I agree that I would trust Lines to be more accurate generally, but that doesn't mean the WDW app is always wrong, either.

People seem to like to pick a single ride and single time to suggest that because the WDW app is "wrong," that means Disney is purposely trying to push people in a specific direction, but during the day, it's more likely that it's just an update lag or general buffer to overestimate the time by a few minutes. Also, there's a bit of confirmation bias, regardless of the app you use, whether the app gives you the "right" time (when you start counting the time, for example).

Now, if we're talking about early in the morning or at night, all bets are off with the WDW app. For precise times, Lines wins hands down, but the numbers do match up more often than you think.
