OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON & NEW YEAR'S 2017 THREAD

It's snowing here. Wet, sticky, heavy snow. We leave Friday. I'm so happy! I only wish I had a few more days of vacation, and we could have left yesterday and spent 2 weeks in SoCal instead of 8 days!

Here's a weird question - we're bringing our "elf on the shelf", except he's more of a stuffy than a posable action figure. If he joins us in a backpack, he's not contraband, is he? Mostly because he's not a Disney character.

I can't speak from experience, but I've never heard of anyone having an issue bringing in outside toys, Disney character or not. I'm sure lots of kids have particular security toys that they take everywhere. The only way I would see Disney having an issue is if the toy were dangerous or resembled a weapon, or if someone were to bring in multiple toys with the intent to sell them.

What!!! That's crazy.

Yep. Had to drive in 3" of the wet, heavy, sticky stuff. It was horrible, and it's still falling. Somehow I have to make it home. Bleh.

As long as the roads are clear by Friday morning, we'll be good to go. Supposed to be rainy tomorrow, then snow again Thursday. I'm threatening sleeping at the airport.

Hi There! We visited DL for the first time in March and can't wait to return. I'm planning for a Christmas holiday trip, next year , but for now I'm living vicariously through your exciting posts!

Only 8 days until we leave for Disneyland! So excited to surprise the kids on Christmas morning! I have almost slipped in such silly ways and let the cat out of the bag. We got our Disneyland New Years 2018 t shirts from Etsy delivered yesterday. Everything in place and ready to go.

I’ve slipped a couple times too and I’m like “who said that?” Your crazy! Lolol!

We leave on Thursday - I can't wait to spend Christmas at Disneyland...I'm so excited. I also have a stuffed elf I got at the Dollar Store that I am taking with us...I have been having fun posting pictures of "Elfie" and his "tricks" to ensure he is on the plane to Disneyland!!! I plan on taking pictures of him around the parks...just something fun to do... BTW...I have never had a problem taking small stuffed animals into the park...and getting pictures with characters...I have the best picture of Cruella holding my stuffed Mickey by the tail...the look on her face is priceless...

We got back from our wonderful holiday trip a few days ago! Being the last week before most APs were blocked out, we were expecting it to be very busy, but crowds were surprisingly light midweek. FP return times were within a couple of hours well into the evening. Weather was HOT, mid 80s all week! Fireworks were canceled every day except Wednesday (the day we had our WoC dining package, of course) and Friday. For everyone going on an upcoming trip, have fun!!!

We're in Surrey near the Surrey/Langley border and we got walloped today too. My dh had to take the day off work as he needed a root canal (loooong story) and had to go to a specialist in West Van (again, loooong story). Took us 2+ hours to get there (should take less than an hour). They cancelled his appointment but I got a bit undisney with the receptionist and she squeezed my hubby in. Again, took us over 2 hours to get home (had a friend pick our kids up from school). All told, about 5 hours in the car today :( for a 40 minute appointment. SOOOOOOO needing this vacation. We leave Saturday and it's supposed to be sunny and cold starting Friday so at least the snow will be gone.

It's packing day for us...my one and only off day of work before we leave and I get to spend it packing and finishing up odds and ends. I can't believe how close it is. To those that are going now, have a safe trip and we'll be seeing you real soon :goodvibes.

UGH! Today's it's all about the ice and black ice. Naturally, we're rural, so our road never gets plowed. If our scheduled car can't get in to pick us up, we may end up paying for a week's parking at the airport (which kind of negates the pick up-drop off service).

DH took one look at my face yesterday and said, "We're NOT missing that flight to Disney!" He gets me.

Just home late last night and had a great trip! Crowds were much lower Friday, Saturday and even Sunday compared to Mon/Tues. But Disney recognized it and extended closing time by 1 hour both Mon and Tues. We used MaxPass all but our last day and it was truly a game changer! It allowed us to fit in so much more than we would have with paper fast passes. I agree with previous poster- go early, take a break mid day (and book fast passes from your phone during the break) then return to see the lights. Have a wonderful trip everyone!!

You'll be fine, trust me lol!

I regularly take in a stuffed panda (he's a TY Beanie Buddy and the panda in my avatar). Not only is Peking accepted though security despite not being a Disney character, he's loved by several CMs (they get so excited to see him and some actually give him hugs). Some PP CMs even do photoshoots of him for me every now and then.
