Hey All,

Just wanted to let everyone know I received a new Maingate in the mail today. The way the new one differs from others is it utilizes Disney's newest RFID technology. It also includes separate plastic guest cards that are used on the day of admission, used for the day, then taken from your guests after the days use to be reused the next time. Keep an eye out in your mailbox!

I got mine and was able to link it to the My Disney Experience site. Once I get a Magic Band I will be able to link it to that.

So since I received a Magic Band during the beta test that I won from Magic Backstage, does this mean I should be able to link my Maingate to it when I receive the new one this week?

Huh, I just tried to link mine and it said my pass was 'already linked to another account', even though I have no other account... :headache:

Same with mine, but I do have an old account. Who knows.

Does anyone know if they will be doing this same thing with the silver passes or will we need to goto guest services before each park every day. Boy would that stink!

Should be for ALL Main Entrance Passes regardless of "color".

We got ours yesterday too. Unfortunately we were shorted a guest card. Now I have to figure out who to contact to get our extra card.

My guess would be to go to the ticketing office at Celebration Place. They are on the 8th floor of building 200. They are only open to 4:30.

I initally thought I was shorted one too, then I remembered that it's "Me plus three" and that totals 4 entries......

I can't wait to get mine and link it to my reservation. Can you link your other guest cards to people online also? Has anyone tried this?

I have been told by the NextGen team that you cannot do this currently, but in the future you will be able to link all the cards to your account and set up Fastpass+. But that the guest cards will never be able to be linked to a MagicBand.

Sorry hit the button before I was done! When they got tickets after entering they could go on their own but not clear on how these passes will work.

Question that I couldn't find an answer for, can my kids parkhop without me?

As long as they have the guest card and they are 14 or older they can parkhop without you. They are just like the paper tickets used to be and your family could parkhop with those without you being with them. Just need to make sure you get the cards back.

They should be able to. The guest cards work the same as the previous "paper" ticket. At the end of the day, it is up to the MEP holder to get their guest cards back from their guests.

Having said all that, it has always been "policy/rules" that the CM had to stay with their guests but that has seldom been followed. Since these new passes just came out and have not yet really been tried much, we are assuming they work just like the old system. Once that guest card is activated for your guest it should act just like the old paper ticket.

Thanks!!!

You are welcome. They have a lot more info on the hub under the complimentary admission tab and main entrance pass

Entering the Theme Parks with Guests
Main Entrance Pass and Guest Passes, plus:
Cast Members: Company ID (for parking & discounts)
Spouse/Same-Sex Domestic Partner: Valid photo ID
HOW TO ENTER THE THEME PARKS:
PASSHOLDER ENTERS FIRST GUESTS ENTER IMMEDIATELY AFTER

Go to a designated Cast touch point.

Give a reusable Guest Pass to each member of your
party just before entering the parks.

Passholder: Enter first by touching your Main Entrance Pass to the main entrance touch point. Place your finger on the biometrics pad.

Guests: Have them enter immediately behind you, each touching their Guest Pass to the same main entrance touch point and placing their finger
on the biometrics pad.

To reenter or park hop: Touch your Main Entrance Passes and Guest Passes to any main entrance touch point. You do not need to use the same touch point or enter in any particular order. (This tells me that you do not need to be with your family for them to park hop since they can use any touch point. Hope I am right).

At the end of the visit, collect the Guest Passes from each member of your party and keep them for future use.

Saw this on the hub:

Main Entrance Passes and reusable Guest Passes may be used to obtain Disney FASTPASS tickets from the distribution kiosks at participating locations.
More information will be shared early next year around linking Main Entrance Passes and Guest Passes to
My Disney Experience, as well as making Disney FastPass+ selections in advance. At this time, please do not link
your passes or complimentary eTickets to your
My Disney Experience account.
