Question for all of you DGC discount veterans:

Ignoring credit card bonuses, are there any decent DGC buying opportunities (i.e. sales) at any times of the year other than
November and December? Or do you pretty much have to plan on buying a year’s supply during this time period to fund your dues, passes/tickets and other Disney spending for the following year?

If you pay attention, there are definitely opportunities to buy discounted cards other months. it may not be a straight sale like BB, but you may be able to stack cc offers, cash back sites - just need to be more creative
BB and sams have had sales on DGC at other times during the year...

I personally find deals all year long and slowly collect. I have $80 more to get before Jan 15. I will do $30 at CVS using cashapp (7%) and then use my Disney Rewards (PYB) for the remaining amount (100%).

This past year, I bought Disney GCs 11 times from May through December so far. Prior to May I did buy - but those were applied to 2024 dues.
Here is the breakdown:

• 3 purchases were made at BJs online - all using whatever coupon was given to me at the time - sometimes they were on sale, sometimes there were not; one of these was using some rakuten money
• 5 purchases were made at CVS with either CC offers, cash app offers
• 2 purchases were made at Best Buy online - one with an AMEX offer, one with the recent sale
• 1 purchase was made at the disney store online - I used my rakuten cash back for that

Get $10 off a $50 purchase. Good until 12/24.

Wish gift cards were not excluded.

Is anyone else having issues with Target not letting you use gift cards online if your order includes buying any Disney (or any other brand) gift cards? I bought the $500 worth of Target gift cards for 10% off. I was trying to fulfill the spend $120 4 times bonus, but if I do it online it won't let me pay for the merchandise portion of my order with my gift card. It is making the whole thing be paid with my Red card.
Thankfully my store is only 5 minutes down the road (and it works fine to use the gift card to pay the merchandise portion in store and only charge the Disney gift card to the Red card), so this isn't a huge problem, but I like to do curbside pick up to prevent myself from buying stupid stuff while walking around.

The system probably doesn’t have a way to separate the DGC portion from the total charged.

Appreciate the advice. Discovered this community in November and immediately started buying DGCs with Sam’s and BJs purchases, and now in December with giftcard.com and BB purchases.

We are relatively new to DVC - second DVC trip coming up in January. Thanks to this thread, we have been able to purchase enough discounted DGCs to cover most of the cost of our first-time APs and Annual Dues. Now working to accumulate cards for spending during January trip and thinking ahead to our November trip…

of these tactics. I am trying to figure out a similar strategy of buying throughout year instead of a mad scramble at the end although November and December will likely always be a time of heavy DGC purchases.

I always just use the rewards/coupons on GC as those are not returnable.
If I use it on something else and return that item I am getting the value - the value of the coupon and or rewards used.

You would save at least 10% with that coupon even if you just bought the variable load that doesn't get discounted.

BTW 2026 dues are just around the corner lol

To help offset the shipping fee on the DGC, this might be the route I would go via PayPal, then buy the DGC. Again, I'm not shopping for DGC your path could be different.

You need to log into your chase account either via the web site or using the mobile app and see if you have that specific offer under one, or more of your cards. At times offers will be displayed under different cards with different values and at times not listed at all. I happen to have this same offer under one of my cards. If available you need to select it so that it's activated, then once activated you make your purchase and wait for chase to track it and issue the cash back refund.

You can’t buy DGC with Target GC. They shut that down years ago. System isn’t smart enough to break them apart for payment.

Is the max discount $250 per transaction, so you were able to get the 10% discount on your entire purchase by doing two transactions? I can’t find anything that states the limit is $250 per customer so this does sound right but i just want to confirm. I’m considering placing one more order before the offer expires. Thanks!

So it looks like Best Buy DGC offer ends in 7 hours (1a Eastern). So the date of 12-20 is correct just not the entire day.

Was able to order another 6 cards per my 3 accounts today for the Best Buy DGC offer. I'm still waiting for 2 of the orders to come through. They are on different accounts.

It took 19 hours for one of yesterdays orders to be delivered but I was able to order another 3 on that account after the 24 hours mark from yesterday today and got those within 5 min. That's one of the 2 accounts I'm waiting on from today.

If those 2 orders come through that will put me up to 72 cards in total. Not as good as lasts years 81 card haul, but having the 4th day this year helped to make it close.
