NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More

I don't know I've always been told $500, the only deluxe I've stayed at are DVC but as far as I know they've used the same $500 charging baseline. Now if you go crazy in a particular day like started the day at $400 and then accumulate another $600 in that day alone because of meals, shopping, whatever. That $1000 wouldn't process until that night, so it's not that they just process immediately at $500 they still only process nightly, they just look at the ending balance for that night.

I know for certain this was the case at Aulani in July as I had a billing issue that I needed to get resolved and I could see in the folio they were charging my card any night that the total ended above $500.
I believe PP is right, $1500 for Deluxe. I put the GC on my account at the Boardwalk a couple weeks ago, once my balance hit $1100 to keep from charging my card.

Ouch - this really sucks. I used to do monthly payments for my DVC dues and then pay every 3 months with Gift Cards so the ACH would not withdraw money from my bank account. Sounds like this is no longer allowed by DVC.

I always pay upfront with GC but another family I know does this as well I believe.

So this did infact work for you for the 2024 dues?

The reason I ask is because it says it is not allowed in the Terms and conditions but when I pulled the T&C from DVC it stated it had not been modified since 1/2024.

Oh noooo! I've done this for years, including this year. I have a good stash so I'll be able to cover dues in January anyway, but it'll mean I'll need to rebuild faster than expected to pay off my cruise (due in May). Sucks indeed.

I have a practical logistics question: In the past, I’ve taken my $1k DGCs with me on vacation and paid off room charges at the end of the trip. But I am thinking this is a bit risky if I ever were to lose my wallet. So far my upcoming trip, I am thinking of writing all of my gift card numbers down (or taking photos of them) and only bringing empty cards. Then, just before I need to use them, I can transfer the funds to the empty cards through the website. Does this make sense? Any issues I should be aware of? Other than the website going down, I can’t think of any reason this wouldn’t work. Thanks for your advice!

I know everyone does it differently. For us, I make sure to 1) keep a note on my phone, shared with Hubby, with GC numbers and balances for the cards I'm bringing, both blanks and value; 2) bring a couple of blanks, enough that I could transfer all of the funds if I needed to and 3) split up where GCs and blanks are located (some in my wallet, some in Hubby's wallet, blanks in a different checked bag) so that, even if one bag or wallet gets misplaced, I can transfer to another card that we didn't lose. (I do the same with any cash, spreading it out across both of us so that one misplaced wallet doesn't mean all the money is gone.) I don't think I would totally leave my cars with value at home because sometimes the site can be weird about transferring funds, but the barcode still works when you physically scan at the front desk. I would be worried that there would be some sort of error when I tried to transfer funds and then I'd be stuck paying cash because they couldn't scan the physical card. Of course, that could happen too if you lost the card, but then you'd have to have the double bad luck of losing the card AND not being able to transfer off the card, which is theoretically less likely.

My kids' birthday GCs do come in the parks with me because they like to do the physical transaction themselves. Others just stay in the safe at the hotel and we either charge MB or do mobile order with copy/pasting the GC number from the note on the phone. I'm always awake before everyone else, so I'll go pay off room charges when I'm getting my morning coffee. Worst case, they can refund the card on file and charge the GCs the morning you leave.

I also did this method. It made it easier to have DGF for both dues and vacation. I guess I'll be buying extra DGC's at Target so I'll at least have 5% off...

Hi all -- I have a Visa offer for 10% cash back on a Joann purchase, up to $25. Anyone know if 1.) Joann still sells third party gift cards and 2.) if buying one of those third party cards will trigger the 10% back?

I have the same on most of my Chase cards, biz and personal. I feel like they did but don't remember seeing any when I was in a few weeks ago. Google isn't helping. I may pop in just to see tomorrow.

I don’t remember if it was Joanne’s or some other craft store, but a couple of years ago they had an Amex offer and when they saw a lot of people were coming in to buy gift cards, they put up a sign cash only and then once the Amex offer was over, they accepted credit cards again. Honestly, I can’t remember if this was Joanne’s or some other crafts store.

Might have been Michael's because I know I've bought 3rd party cards there because of cc offers. I never have at Joann's, don't really remember seeing any offers for them before either.

I have had over $1,200 before with no charge. I thought it was $1,500? Maybe it depends on the resort you are staying at? I have only stayed Deluxe.
This may have changed, but I was told several years ago that the limits were $500 for value resorts, $1000 for moderate resorts, and $1500 for deluxe resorts. But the front desk can increase these amounts on request.

Thanks to tips here I have started using an Apple Wallet DGC as my main gift card. (Of course this only works if you have an iPhone :hyper:)

I buy the $25 one from ShopDisney and then use the button to add to my apple wallet from the email they send. Then I load all my DGCs to that wallet gift card. I didn't carry any physical cards with me my past two trips to WDW and DL (I did have the #s in my notes app including the #s for some empty cards just in case) and it was so nice having CMs scan my phone instead of trying to swipe the physical cards. And not having to find the card in my wallet. I plan to start with a fresh Shop Disney card every trip just as a precaution.

If you redeemed any of the movie insider points for digital cards those work as well :)

This is limited to one credit card purchase per week, though, correct?
It's one per week per membership number. So, depending on how many family member Price Plus numbers you know and how often you want to go...

That said, you have to remember to go back the next week using the same number(s) to redeem them. I used to do these deals on Hubby and my card so we'd have doubles. Lately, things have been too busy for multiple shoprite trips per week so I just do mine.

(I guess you could do back to back transactions just splitting your order between different price plus numbers. I doubt the cashier would bat an eye if you did that buying the GC, but it seemed sketchier to tell them in back to back transactions that you were redeeming the $20 code since they have to enter it each time. I have only ever done it when I can go two different times in the redemption week.)

during this type of deal, Each week I purchase 2 gift cards with our 2 differnt Price Plus cards, I purchase both at cutomer service at the same time, never been an issue or questioned.
The following week, I go to a regualar check out, my purchases are split up so that I can use the coupons, never had an issue with cashier doing this either.

so this Sunday I will purchase 2 giftcards at customer service, then shop, then checkout with the 2 $20 coupons I got a week ago, that are now vallid

to keep track of which price plus card goes with each reciept, I write our initals on them, easier to keep track of

Good to know. I always feel like I'm going to get called out for having the promotion on back to back orders since it's so clearly one per.

So I finally went to Best Buy last night to take advantage of the spend $250 or more get $25 back offer from AMEX.
I had the offer on mine and DS authorized user card.

I did two transactions and the first $250 Disney Card went through fine.
Then I attempted DS card and it kept being declined and I kept trying knowing that there was plenty of credit available.
Then it dawned on me that I had capped DS limit at $200!!

I kept apologizing to the Best Buy guy. He was like I get paid by the hour doesn't matter to me. Then tried to get me to apply for a BB CC. I'm thinking to myself what are the odds of someone getting approved for a card if they just got denied 10 times with their existing card lol. I know I would have been approved and realize now why it was denied but these young kids working the register have no idea how credit works it seems. I am certainly not giving up a 5/24 slot on a BB Card either.

In order to get the card to work I had to search forever to find where to set the limit on the AMEX website (never could find it on the app).
Raised the limit to $500 and then waited for my email to finally download the code.
After that I was finally able to purchase another $250 disney card on DS AMEX.

Lesson learned AMEX Spend controls definitely work!! I now know to make sure DS limit is above the offer that is on the card in the future!! :)

Does the Target 10% off gift cards have to be purchased using the red card or can I use Discover to add their 5% as well. Cause 15% off Target would be pretty sweet as I’ve already bought WAY too much stuff from them the last couple of weeks.
