Hey all,
Not sure how many know yet, but there is a brand new Buc-ee's on Rt 95 around the St. Augustine area (YES a Buc-ee's in Florida ! )
Just wondering if anyone knows if its RV friendly for stopping to get fuel, and going into the store to get some food and grub ? Gotta have me some Beaver Nuggets for the Fort !
First location in Florida, and has only been open for a couple weeks now (think it opened Feb 22nd) .

I stopped at it today, Syndrome.

Other than the tall rodent sign, there was no indication of it on billboards or the highway signs (gas, restaurants, hotels that pay to be on the signs at each exit). It's at exit 323 on the west side of I95 which is the exit for the World Golf Hall of Fame.

They have abt 70 hoses for motorists and it was crowded just with all the cars coming into the parking lot. They also had half the hoses bagged off-limits. So there were two pumps in each "row" with a hose on either side (4 hoses) and the pump (2 hoses) nearest the store - IN ALL THE ROWS - were all bagged. Which eliminated half their capacity. Don't know if they didn't have full tanks or to reduce the directional confusion.

I paid $2.69/gal for unleaded which was 0.16 less than the best prevailing rate. Don't know if that was a promotional opening rate. No "Grand Opening" signs outside (didn't go inside - if you've seen one Bucc-ees, you've seen them all).

Of course all the entering cars took the same entrance into the parking lot but there is an entrance further down near the far end. All the pumps open were in use (on the side where my gas tank is) and I rolled down to the end and circled back and got a spot (with 35 or so hoses in use folks a hose becomes available every few pumps).

Is it RV friendly? I would say yes but it was extremely busy (at half capacity) about 11am this morn.

PS - there is another Bucc-ees on the east side of I95 down by the Outlet Stores that are just north of Daytona. No idea what their price was compared to local competition. Or at least there is a sign and building. Maybe it is a 2nd FL location? And still under construction? It's not listed on their website (yet).

EDIT: Opening March 22. https://www.clickorlando.com/news/l...grand-opening-for-new-daytona-beach-location/

St. Augustine did open Feb 22. https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/article/buc-ees-to-open-in-st-johns-county-at-6-a-m-feb-22

They are VERY RV friendly. Anyone except semi trucks.

However, if the truck is being used to pull RV they will let you pump fuel.

Thanks ! Pumps look a little congested , but should have enough room to fit RV's if you pick the right pump .
I think we will see if we can stop on-route to the Fort next week . Fill up the tank, and get some goods and food .
Maybe we will even stop at the newest one after they open on-route home in Daytona as well to check it out.

We in Texas love our Bus-ee's! They have the cleanest rest rooms ever! The food is wonderful. They have good gas & diesel prices. I use the Bus-ee's in Bastrop & yes they are always busy. The only thing that upsets me - people fill up their vehicles then go inside to shop. You need to move your vehicles to the parking area, which here in Texas, are a lot. I am glad But-ee's are spreading their wings. They have all kinds of neat things to buy.

Adam The Woo (You Tuber) was there for the Florida grand opening after he had visited the ones passing through Texas. I am amazed at how HUGE it is inside!

Those places are huge. Mass amount of room for RVs.

Not sure if the FL ones are laid out the same as the one near Gulf Shores (on I-10), but I was able to get my 42ft 5er and truck through the GS one without any problems. And they were also very busy (it had only been open for a few weeks)

Last time I checked , there was an "E" at the end of St. Augustine ! Sure you went to the right Buc-ee's @bama_ed ? :lmao:

Thats a weird spelling error, that shows up on EVERY fuel receipt , lol .

Well , we cant wait to stop at Buc-ee's to pick up some goods right before we get to the Fort ! (Hopefully we can find St. Augustin ??? :rotfl:)

Beaver nuggets, engage! This convo made me look up locations and there's one on I-75 near Warner Robbins now. Definitely going to have to pull in and grab some goodies on our June trip, even if we don't need fuel.

I'm pretty sure it was the right one, Syndrome.

It was only 5 miles or so south from there to the exit for the St. Augustine Lighthouse.

One thing I will say about St. AugustinE, though, is I've had three one-day/night stops there and I'm dyin' to spend a longer stay there (preferably at Anastasia SP). But there have always been SO many people in the historic section when I've been there (spring break March 2X and Christmas/New Years 1X) so that's my fault for going at busy times (not going in summer).

But it's got history, architecture, and warm weather coupled with a nice state park on the beach which is all hard to beat. Gonna get back for a longer stay some day but haven't done it yet.

And if I continue further south I can hit the Bucc-ees in Daytona. It will be an oasis in a gasoline Sahara.

Just so's y'all know, Buc-ee's nuggets are available on Amazon.

Not sure how the prices compare though. I've never been to a Buc-ee's, sigh. nDH is a 'get there fast, no unnecessary stops' driver.

The nuggets are not worth the stop but the restrooms are huge and generally very clean. :thumbsup2

Now THAT might get nDH to stop! He dearly loves trying a new beer, especially a dark beer.

Those nuggets look pretty similar to the Cosmo's caramel puffed corn snacks I get at the grocery stores.

The rodent's nugs would probably taste better if they were fried in the Bucc-ees ale instead of the other ways around.

I bet you all fall for those three-day old corn dogs turning over and over again in the gas station deli section too.

PS - <jk> I know the rednecks from Mississippi like chicken on a stick from gas stations (or something like that). It's considered a local delicacy.....
