Name your best chapstick/lip balm

Burtie Bots Bees- so I'm an obsessive Harry Potter fan, You got a problem with that?
lol
i always mess it up "Hey Mum where did i put my Bertie bots bees"
i use the regular mint balm and the shimmer stuff in champagne and rhubarb

and blistex mainly in the winter be cause its like -20 degrees and dry for 10 months of the year and it really works. just slather the white stuff on before bed and all you problems will be solved

You can throw my vote in the hat for Blistex. I used to use carmex or chapstick but recently switched to Blistex. That stuff really helps.

CARMEX!!!! I'm addicted to it. I have to have some with me at all times or I panic. I tell my family that my lips are going to fall off! DD8 is following in my footsteps! I have to say that it does need to be the squeezy tube and not the chapstick-type or jar one.

ETA: someone asked about the "Carmex Addiction" I know I just feel the need for it on my lips. The little bit of burning sensation when it goes on just feels good. i know my lips will be feeling better soon. Otherwise, I'm licking them all the time to keep them moist. I have heard others talk about being addicted to Carmex too.

Bubba Gump chap stick is the best. Seriously, I was desperate one day in California and bought some at the restaurant. Its great and has a coconut flavor to it.

Another vote for Aquaphor! Good stuff.

It is the very best stuff there is! I have an autoimmune disease called Sjögren's Syndrome that causes profound drying of the eyes, skin, nose, mouth and lips. If I don't have stuff on my lips at all times, they crack and bleed. I've tried every product under the sun and nothing has worked half as well as aquaphor. Great stuff!

Thanks for the link:thumbsup2

I must say THANK YOU to everyone. I never those this would get so many responses...LOL..

I purchased 20$ of different ones on my way home from work last night. It is supposed to be 90 and sunny every day this week, and I am off till Friday :cool1: ..That means, beaches, kids over to swim with my own, and lots of sunshine. I will protect those babies.

I uses the Bert's last night, and they are slightly better. My husband loves the look

I didn't read the whole thread buy here's another vote for Burt's Bees.

I have been using the tinted lip balm in place of lipstick this summer. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know of a good lip balm with sunscreen that doesn't taste terrible? I've tried several different brands with SPF (Coppertone, Blistex, Chap Stick), and they all taste like chemicals. Yuck! I end up wiping it off & throwing it away.

Thanks!

Cherry Carmex

Intrestingly I just read a small article about lip cancer on a sharp rise amongst men. Seems we men folk are much more susceptible to sun exposure on that area since we don't wear lipstick like the ladies. Said article strongly advised that men start wearing lip balm with minimum SPF 15 for protection.

That said, I can only use Anthony Logistics for Men or Clinique lip balm, both with SPF15. I have a bad reaction to just about every other product out there. Instead of protecting my lips, most balms make the skin crack and then peel off in layers!

I mentioned this already on the thread but it's worth another mention:thumbsup2 Avon's Beyond Color Lip Conditioner. It comes in a lipstick tube and it's nice and creamy. I wear it alone but you can wear it under lipstick. It's spf 15. I find it has no taste.

What exactly do you mean by addicted? I've gone back and forth in using it, and don't become agitated when I have to use something else.

"Addiction" is really a total mis-nomer but, I guess it's the easiest way to express it. People have run with the term, though, and taken it to mean they just can't stand not to have Carmex on their lips but, that's not what it originally refered to.

I guess we should be calling it "rebound chapped lips" since it's like hte "rebound congestion" you'll get from using Afrin longer than you need to.

Camphor, phenol and menthol are all counter-irritants. They're in lip balms to dry out cold-sores. If you're using them on normal lips without cold-sores, you're just keeping your lips chapped because they actually dry your lips out.

Of course Carmex and the other medicated lip balms are simply going to say it's not addictive, since you don't go into withdrawal when you don't use it, and fail to point out that it can keep your lips nice and dry so you want to keep using it....they're making millions off of it.

I don't have a favorite, but I had to mention what I just saw this weekend. Maybe it's old, but I have never seen it before. It's called Chicken Poop(yes, it's lip balm). It says on the tube "contains no poop". I couldn't believe it. They have a website, and a whole line of products! Hmm, I don't think I could bring myself to use something called Chicken Poop!

LOL It's "Free Range Chicken Poop" and I've used it for several years. The scent is lavender and it's a really great product.

I've also ordered a product online called "Karite Gold"...it comes in a natural unscented/unflavored stick and other flavors as well. The base is shae butter, bees wax, olive oil and vitamine E.

I'm definitely addicted to NEEDING something on my lips and I've tried hard to break the habit but so far haven't been successful. I feel real panic when I misplace my chicken poop.

You will probably think I am crazy But I use Chicken Manure.
It doesn’t help my chap lips much, but it does keep me from licking them.

Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer is SPF 15 and it doesn't have any taste at all, at least that I can remember. :)
