Mystery at Sea

Are they trying to throw us off? the first paper was from Hong Kong and this one is from New Zealand. If it's going to the Med, why are the papers from the Pacific?

I am starting to agree. There is postcard with a monkey on it, what is that all about???

Doesn't the Rock of Gibraltor have monkeys or something hanging out on it? Could that be part of it?????

The coordinates today point towards Port Alexander Alaska. The coordinates so far are:

Feb 27: 40 75'N 73 99'W (NYC)
Mar 8: 26 5'N 77 32'W (Castaway Cay)
Mar 10: 57 03'N 135 15'W (Port Alexander, Alaska)

Wish You Were Here - Monkeys
5 St. Michael Medalions
Compass is different, now shows ESE and NE

:confused3

Yes it does and here is what I found about Gibraltar

Gibraltar
Southwestern Europe, bordering the Strait of Gibraltar, which links the Mediterranean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, on the southern coast of Spain

Yes, and I have a url to show this however the board wont let me post it.

Note, so far as I can tell the morse code message is still the same one about the lava and whatnot even though the site has been updated.

Just type the url address in with a space before the .com or .net, etc

thanks for pointing that out..

i think the morse code at the bottom of the page reads as follows:

The queen just loves the pie stop

In my translation, I also got the "queen loves the" but can't figure out this last word. The first part may be "pie" but what are the remaining letters??

Here is the last word in morse code:

.--. .. . .-.-.-

Gee, when I first wrote my post, the only thing which had changed was the printing out of the article, and the addition of the morse code!

NOW EVERYTHING'S DIFFERENT!!! :confused3

New Zealand!!! Now REALLY!!! Is that for the return repro?:rotfl2:

I think the coordinates for Alaska are a red herring to thow up off the trail. :rotfl2:

Where are all of you getting the information on the coordinates, I mean how are you figuring it out?

Looking at this on the map it looks like 75 instead of 15 on the second number

Yes, it is 75, I typed it wrong. Thanks.

While this is my DW's user name, as her DH I thought I'd drop my 2cents on the clues. I am a retired Chief QuaterMaster (USN & USCG). While in the navy my speciality was Signalman (morse code!).

You've all hit the nail on the head decoding the (2) messages. Both begin Magic Awaits. The latest message "Hot lava has gone to the birds" is a simple reference to Naples Italy & Mt. Vesuvius. Having been to Napoli several times I can tell you the volcano is a MAJOR landmark.

The first message regarding how the "Queen loves her Pizza" also, another Itialian reference, however possibly a different port...

As for the monkeys on the post card... Yes thats Gilbralter (gateway to the Mediterranean sea). I've actually climed the rock and taken pictures of the monkeys.

Just to make this more interesting. Sicily has the largest volcano in the world (active - Hot Lava) Mt. Etna (been there also)... The (2) ports that serve Sicily Catania and Polermo both have relative access to the volcano...

From what I've seen and heard we're going to the Med. next year!!!

I use Google Earth.

I think there have been different messages in print and by sound. When you click and get the morse code it is different. I used a translator for the typed out code and got the same one as everyone else about the pie.

worldatlas.com is the site for Lat & long references. :thumbsup2

Isn't there Mount St. Helen's in Washington state? Then there's Canada (isn't the queen of England still the figurehead?)

could it be going to Alaska.....?

Maybe I am thinking too much... my head hurts... :badpc:

My husband agrees that the postcard is definitely a rock ape from Gibraltar. He was there when in the Navy.

Just an FYI for you...that would be a violation of posting guidelines. If a site cannot be posted here (due to content or being filtered for whatever reason) then trying to get around that block or filter by deliberately posting it another way is violating posting guidelines and can result in the removal of posting priviledges.
