My very mini review

We just got back on Saturday 3/15 from a 5-day trip to Disneyland. It was our fourth trip in 12 years, the last one being in 2019. It was me (57yo) and my 20yo son. I would have preferred sunnier and dryer weather, but as they say, a rainy day at Disneyland is better than a good day at the office. A few things of the top of my head that stuck out. (Longer review with photos coming soon).

DCA
Pym's was pretty good. Flo's V8 was awful. I've eaten better food at Denny's. Food & Wine savory choices were too few for my taste, as I don't eat jalapenos, wings or hot dogs. Wine Country Trattoria was the highlight of our entire trip.
Soaring over California needs to be a year-round thing. I will never tire of Radiator Springs Racers. Web Slingers was a one and done, BUT the character interactions at Avengers Campus made our day. My Marvel-loving son and I spent a ton of time there on both days we visited DCA.
This version of WOC was just ok. The water and light show portion was great, but the projections themselves were not the best quality. WOC: ONE also seemed to lack the wow factor and narrative of the other shows I've seen.

DLP
Give me all the Mickey-shaped food! What was up with all the huge school groups?!!! Rise of the Resistance!!!!! I love Fantasmic!, and our meal at River Belle Terrace was excellent, but paying those kinds of prices to be sitting on the ground is a scam. (And yes, I knew what I was getting into.) I don't care for the new bride story in HM. Bring back the murderess! I miss Facilier and Redd roaming around New Orleans Square. Rain at Disneyland sucks. The band never came out to play. (I assume they didn't want to get their instruments wet.) The characters don't come out to play in the rain. The fireworks were cancelled. Between the cold, the rain, the crowds, the lack of parade, and the cancellation of the fireworks, we were pretty miserable. We stuck it out though and got to watch Fantasmic!

EDITED TO ADD: How can I forget?!!!!! Tiana's Bayou Adventure was freaking amazing. Even my 20yo son was wowed.

Walt Disney Studios
What a day! It started with a Tim Allen sighting in a random subway shop in L.A. and ended with dinner at Tam O'Shanter's. And being IN Walt's office was the second highlight of our trip.

See y'all in 2030 for the 75th Anniversary! (Or maybe earlier than that for Oogie Boogie. LOL)

OMG, I'm sorry the weather decided to mess with you! DL is not really able to handle much rain. I was there not long after Covid when it rained so hard practically everything was shut down. You don't realize how much is outdoors/gets soaking wet until it rains like that! There really aren't that many places in DL to escape, especially if you want to sit down, and everyone else is trying to get under shelter as well. On the plus side, there aren't that many other people when it's raining, LOL--just the ones like us that aren't locals and have to make the best of it, or the hardy souls who go anyway.

Enjoyed your comments and hope you have better weather next time!

We made the best of it, including doing a lot of sit down meals. I love spring in southern California, but next time we won't go so early in the month because it was also a little too chilly. (We had no choice, it was my son's Spring Break.)

Fun report!

I agree with the exclamation points for Rise of the Resistance!

From your mouth to Josh D'Amaro's ears about Soarin'. I don't even go on the "world" version; once was enough.
Thank you! I really don't understand why they don't keep it year-round.

Thanks for the review! Glad you had fun even though it was so rainy.

I agree about Facilier. When we saw him in Frontierland he was so intimidating I wanted to run away lol.

Any Loki sightings in DCA? He's my favorite Marvel character, I'm always on the lookout for him :)

It goes to show you that places are hit and misses sometimes. We actually love Flo's. We have had good and bad food at Wine Country Trattoria. Seems like overall a pretty good trip.

Loki was in Avengers Campus! Unfortunately, there were a lot of people surrounding him, and I'm short. I couldn't get a good photo of him.

Was about to say the same. I usually really like Flo's specialty burgers and steak fries. And I'm extremely picky about red meat. I've never had their "regular" burgers, however. I know with Galactic Grill, their burgers are strictly sad, cafeteria-like patties unless it's a specialty one that specifies Angus beef in the description.

I agree. Personally, I would put Galactic Grill and Red Rose Tavern in the same category.
After Flo's, I refused to eat anywhere else where the menu was just burgers and chicken tenders. But I remember eating breakfast at Red Rose Tavern and enjoying it though. But then again, that was five years ago. And I also didn't remember Flo's being that bad.

Even with the miserably cold and rainy Friday, it really was a good trip. First, we were at Disney, but also I'm blessed that my college-aged son still loves Disney (he's the one that suggested Disneyland for Spring Break), and still loves traveling with his mom.

Great mini report! We’ve always had great luck at Wine Trattoria as well! It’s a go to for events days for us. Always seems to work out.
