Since there are so many wedding threads lately I thought Id ask..

Im getting married next year and Im currently working on getting my songs together for the pre wedding music and the reception music..

I wanted to play Butterfly Kisses for my dance with my dad but I heard that Tim McGraw song yesterday called My Little Girl and I love it..

What do you think of that song??

That is a good song.
Did you also hear "I loved her First" by Heartland?

Even better. I was just going to post that. Love that song.

I haven't heard either of those songs. I may have to take a listen.... :)

Me too!

But I danced with my dad to "Daddy's Little Girl". It's a real oldie, but meaningful in our family.

HEARTLAND LYRICS

I Loved Her First

Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each other's face
So much in love you're alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one she told me so
And she still means the world to me just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way

I loved her first
I held her first
And a place in my heart
Will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away
I loved her first

How could that beautiful woman with you
Be the same freckle faced kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw her with you
It was only a matter of time

I loved her first
I held her first
And a place in my heart
Will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away
I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first

I love that song by Tim McGraw, but that one by Sugarland is really awesome.

"I loved her first" always get me and my husband crying. We look at our 4 year old daughter and how 4 years have flown and think about giving her away. It is a real good song. I want to get it on CD now and save it for when she is older.

I like My Little Girl better, but they're both good songs.

What a tough choice between Tim's song and the Heartland song. The Heartland song makes me cry when I look at my daughter. The other song to throw into the mix is In My Daughters Eyes by Martina McBride.

Lyrics:

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

I love both songs, but I think I like My Little Girl better. DD's are only 12 and 7 but I think that would be great for a Father/Daughter dance.

Now Im gonna have to check out the other song.. It sounds like a tie breaker..
