Mist fan vs normal handheld

Being that we take off first thing Sunday morning and the "feel like" temps in Disney look to be over 100, I guess we will need fans! :rotfl2:

I've seen so many normal fans with varying reviews on whether they work in Florida humidity. Then with the mist fans, with it being so hot, I wonder if I will want to get more wet with the mist. Those who have stormed the July/August humidity, which fan was more effective for you?? :surfweb:

Well, I brought two fans with me last August-- a portable "necklace" fan that you can wear around your neck and it shoots air up to your face, and a tiny misting fan from O2 Cool, both which I got on Amazon. I found the misting fan to be awesome, easy to carry around, and refreshing. The necklace fan was just like a hot breeze-- ok but not great.

I always bring a mist fan from home. So much cheaper to buy here than at Disney when you're desperate and will pay anything lol. I also bring a few handheld individual fans for people to share. Not sure that anything is truly "effective" in that kind of heat but it's good to have something to at least move the air. We've done a number of trips in the summer. It is brutal at times. Just take breaks and drink lots of water! :)

I haven't gone right in the worst of heat/humidity, but have gone in hot humid sept embers and was surprised the mist fans were somewhat effective. I thought maybe it was so darn humid the extra wet would just sit on me, but it was somewhat helpful. I've seen other posters say they love Frog Togg cooling towels even better than fans.

Thanks guys! I was originally gonna bring a normal fan but you've convinced me to bring a misting one just in case

I have found that the misting fans don't work well in Florida's humidity. I am already sweaty, the last thing I want to do is add more water to that! I find the regular fans work equally as well, and they take up a lot less space.

Just realize, the more you carry around, the more you'll be working up that sweat. I'd suggest cutting back on what you carry to the parks and using air conditioned stores and eateries to cool down in.

We carried a misting fan with us once. Once was enough to make us realize that not one of the four of us wanted to be 'in charge' of it. Never carried it again, and it sits on a shelf at home.

We bring Mistymate, personal minsters-- no fans. They weigh much less than a bottle of water and don't use batteries.

They're total trip savers for us!!!

We brought O2 Cool Carabiner mist fans on our trip earlier this month and they were wonderful! Really light weight, 1 battery lasted a week, and refilling it with icewater was easy and felt great in the July heat and Humidity!
