'Mingos and 10K of FUN ….…………. 2/21 Dance Party Update!

We left Tusker House, and made our way to our FP for the Safari.

.
We really could have walked right on instead as there was virtually no line. We were seated in the front row all to ourselves which was great for sliding back in forth to look out of both sides of the truck.

l"He has an itch on my boom boom" Jackson yells out.

All of the animals were pretty active and I was able to get a pretty good amount of decent photos. Our driver was similar in age to my grandmother and had the same dry, sarcastic wit. I really loved her AND the fact that they got rid of that awful elephant poaching story line.

TITLE REVEAL!! We promised each other that we would keep a level head on this trip, and we needed a code word (The Middle TV show reference) to bring us both down to a level head should we get mad at other tourist, each other, jackson or a situation. The word we chose was Flamingo! ('Mingo) for short. We used this word a LOT over the course of the week, but it really did help when we wanted to tell the other person that we were annoyed but didn't want to be vocal about it in front of the reason for annoyance (i.e ridiculous guests in line) So when we saw the Flamingos Jackson got really excited because the whole time he thought that we were trying to find Flamingos when we were using our "safe" word. haha.

After the Safari we decided to try out the Lion King (new for us!) Show. I had heard amazing things about the new space and I was blown away by how great the show was! We were in the lion section, and Jackson really got into his "roaring"

I did not use flash during the show to keep from disrupting anyones view, so please excuse the blurriness in some of these photos.

We walked our way to head out and see Rafikis Planet Watch next. We stopped off and had a little drum off first.

And snapped a photo with my favorite tree

From here we headed to see train, pair of crazy chipmunks, and one large lizard.

Looking back I wish we had taken more time to see the Pangani Trail with the Gorillas and animals, but I really felt at times that I was trying to get a lot in before we had to take Jackson back for nap. I knew he would really like the train and decided that took precedence over Gorillas.

We only had to wait about 5 minutes for the next train, and as expected Jack was a huge fan. So much so,that when we arrived he had no intention of getting off. (meltdown city)

http://postimage.org/

We wandered through the trails, and came to the opening where Chip and Dale were greeting. The CM told us they would be leaving for a snack break, but when they returned we would be playing games with the two guys!

http://postimage.org/We waited about 10 minutes, while being entertained by a very talented CM singing and playing the guitar. He was great with the kids and kept them entertained the whole wait.

http://postimage.org/
C&D came out, we did the Hokey Pokey and played "hot potato" but with a large acorn instead. C&D were hamming it up and didn't want to pass the acorn!

http://postimage.org/ jack always found the prettiest CMs to stand next to, such a ladies man

Once the games were done the kids lined up for photos and we had a great time having them sign our hat.

http://postimage.org/
Chip and Dale gave him a ton of personal attention. They kept fighting over who was going to wear the hat, and who got to hug Jackson. He was laughing so hard at their antics

We skipped the petting area because we have a ton of mini farms in our area and felt it wasn't worth the extra time since we could do that at home. Hoping back on the train we wanted to catch our last FP for Expedition Everest. I had another one for Kali River Rapids but decided we didn't want to get wet so we skipped it.

We both rode separately, and I got a snack of fruit and cheese box, while Jackson got a juice. It was our priciest snack of the week at $8 but Thought it was worth the money considering its size and freshness. (bonnie bell cheese wheel, 2 large strawberries, grapes, crackers, and apples)

http://postimage.org/app.php

I haven't done EE in a while due to the last trip being when I was preggo and I forgot it went backwards. vomit city. That snack box wasn't feeling so good when I got off and I didn't get a good photo bc I was too busy SCREAMING my head off.

http://postimage.org/
I warned the lady sitting next to me that I was a chicken, so right before we went backwards she turned me and said "ok.. NOW you should scream" haha.

We grabbed these from a PP as we were done.

http://postimage.org/
Anyone else feel dumb when they ask you do looked scared?

http://postimage.org/
Joe sorta looks like he is going to bite my face? :confused3

We were not sure what we wanted to do next when we ran across the meet and greet for Baloo and Louis. Joe’s favorite Disney movie is the original Jungle Book so this was a great find! They took a little break about 2 families before us, but Jack passed the time by flirting shamelessly with the 20-something ladies in front of us in line. He always made friends wherever we went.

this would be when I was schooled by the CM that Louis cant sign the book because his hands were hard like plastic. Oops!

I realized in line we ran out of space on our memory card, so I deleted some photos to make room for these before we left the park. I figured we would get another card at the gift shop at the resort later

Baloo and Louis were a pretty fast interaction; the handlers were not super friendly and were quick to get the families through.

We went around the back side and I got a photo from breakfast I meant to take earlier. Loved the way Disney themes everything so well!

From there we headed out and decided to stop for a quick lunch before nap time, making a last minute decision for Pizzafari.

Jack wanted PB&J, I had a chicken Caesar salad, and Joe had a sandwich (The name escapes me). He said his was good; nothing to write home about but it was large and filling. My salad was the DRYEST salad in the history of salads ever. The chicken was a chilled sliced chicken and just didn’t do anything for me.

A really kind housekeeping CM came by and gave Jackson TWO cupcakes for his birthday! He was quite spoiled!

We sat outside for lunch then headed back to the hotel for nap.

love the tree was still up

I went to the gift shop to get a new camera memory card, only to find out the only one they had would have been $42! I also checked on the Internet, as I needed to print out my race waivers and discovered the Internet was $6 for 10 minutes.

Joe ran out to Wal-Mart to get a new card, and I napped with Jackson in the room.

We cut it a little close with nap and rushed to get out the door to our next adventure. We had a reservation at Fort Wilderness for a Carriage Ride! We managed to find our way to the resort, and hopped a bus at the Outpost depot to get back to the Settlement for our ride.

We were the only people on the bus, and the driver spotted a lot of deer munching on the sides of the road so we had our own little wildlife tour as we made our way back. I couldn’t believe how big the property is!

Settlement and where HDDR is held

upload gambar

We rushed off the bus, as I thought our carriage ride was at 5pm, and we would be late. Only to determine that we were actually at 5:30 so we have 30 minutes to kill! Oopsie.

I grabbed us each a cocktail from Crockett’s Tavern, while the boys played in the little playground. We each had a moonshine cocktail, but I forgot to get photos. (bad dis’r).

Around 5:15 our driver pulled up with the most beautiful black horse and started prepping for our trip. She asked us where we wanted to go, and we honestly didn’t know the difference between the two options she gave us.

Turns out one was a nature trail and the other was the tour of Fort Wilderness. We told her to pick the best option and off we went. She had the canopy up, which I wish was down for a better view, but the night was clear and the weather was still perfect which was nice.

This is where I had my first twinge of Disney magic-less. She took us on a tour of FW, which basically consisted of roaming around looking at other people campers and RVs. It was 30 minutes of staring at vehicles. No animals, no nature, no fun. I felt pretty disappointed when we got off and I could tell that Joe thought it was a bust. I think I take things especially hard because I have hyped up all the planning to be these exciting new adventures and then …womp womp. RV tour.

I took ZERO photos during the entire tour. Sorry!

We tried to shake it off, by heading to our ADR at Trails End next. The area was still pretty quiet, and I am unsure if the Hoop Dee Doo was running that night. We were seated fairly quickly, and given drinks by our waiter.

Jackson was in a mood at this point, and wanted nothing to do with ANYTHING on the buffet or dinner for that matter. We tried and tried to get him to eat but we were all fraying on each other’s nerves. I asked our waiter if there was any way that they could fry us up some lunchtime chicken fingers and he was AMAZING and agreed to help us out.

Pictures from the buffet

The décor in the restaurant was cute, and fit right into what I was expecting. We both filled up on BBQ, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and yummy friend chicken. I was able to find quite a few options that lended to my high protein needs, and Joe drowned himself in sweet tea. (we have a hard time finding it at home)

http://postimage.org/

We hate being “those” people who just want to appease their kid; I just wanted to avoid a full on meltdown in the middle of a packed restaurant. Our waiter did tell us he had a special treat for Jackson’s birthday, but we kindly asked him not to bring it as Jackson did not deserve a treat that night. A man sitting next to us, as we were leaving said we were a “delight to sit by, since we had such good parenting” which really meant a lot to me. We really try to find some balance with Jackson and I appreciate that other people can see we are trying.

From dinner we took the bus back to the Outpost to check out Chip and Dales Campfire sing along. We got there a little bit after it started but Dale came right up to J and gave him a big hug and brought him up to the front to dance.

They had a few song and dance games with the kids, before starting the movie.

Snack Wagon with treats

We only stayed for the first part of the evening, and decided to head back as Jackson was definitely done for the day and we had a big morning ahead. We headed back to the resort around 8 and were in bed by 9pm.

love your tusker house breakfast!!! Caden got that same monorail!! It was his favorite! he still carries it around some days :-)

Those parades were a huge hit for us too!! What a great idea they had putting those in! perfect for restless toddlers!!

Although I'm really sorry that you had a rough toddler day, I'm kinda glad to read that it wasn't just my kid who acted that way at Disney! And way to go withholding the cupcake! Sounds like good parenting to me too!

That was nice of them to cook up chicken strips for him! We had a few nights like that where Caden just outright refused to eat anything. I didn't ever think to ask for chicken strips! Smart move! I usually just handed him a roll :P

Jackson is so cute. You can stand in line next to me and let that cutie flert with this 50 year old lady!!
I am glad that you enjoyed Tusker House. I've never been there but would love to do the character meal there. Only thing about breakfast...I am allergic to pork...makes breakfast buffets difficult. Sounds like you were able to get a lot done on your AK day.

Jackson looks like he is having an amazing time! Animal Kingdom is just stunning in the amount of details it has. FOTLK is my favorite show on property. Where were you trying to get internet from? i though wifi was free at disney hotels it was at POR. And it is free in the parks. I have yet to eat at Trails end but definitely want too.

Thanks! He somehow lost it once we got home and it has turned into meltdown city. I am trying to work out if I can order one from the park soon.

I felt horrible asking, but he had not eaten all day and I usually just let him not eat but knew that he was a whole level of Hangry for sure. Jack isn't a roll guy which is just INSANE to me. bread is life haha.

Subbing in! Your little boy is adorable. Back to read!

Thanks for joining in and thanks- Im kinda biased but think he is cute too

oh I bet thats hard, they had a lot of separate stations and options so Im sure you could get things from the kitchen without worry of cross contamination, although I understand the fear!!

I needed to use the computer there to print, which is what cost us. I did have spotty service on the free wifi all week with my phone which Im sure helped my data bill for sure though!

Monorail Away!!

Today was a full on Magic Kingdom bonanza!! We planned on only one full day in the park, with Jackson catching a nap (fingers crossed) in the lay down stroller. I knew that I wanted to get a lot done in one day and we were going to go hard from open to close! We woke up bright and wary and headed out the door at 7:45 for MK. We drove this trip to make sure we had plenty of time for our pre-opening breakfast. We parked in what can only be described as the VERY BACK of the parking lot. I will say it again, I don't understand the rules of the parking dictators at WDW.

I was surprised by the number of people waiting for the monorail already there at 8am for a 9am opening. We checked in at the front gate and made our way down a very empty main street.

I love that we were able to still enjoy the holiday decor in January!

I was a convert at that moment for pre-park breakfasts and being able to take a photo without a random photobomb from a stranger.

You know how the PP+ photographers stand every 10 feet down main street. We totally hit every.single.one up for photos. haha.

I don't know what they were doing but while we took photos we saw a confetti cannon go off behind the castle and the characters (fab 5) going nuts. I don't know if they were filming something, but they were in sports attire, so maybe for the upcoming races?

I will say that we did a Photo pass share with other January families, and I loved being able to take as many photos as I wanted. But I am so spoiled by my photography industry friends that I was a little disappointed that out of the 2 million MK photos we took, we didn't have more usable ones. (probably good for you or otherwise you would have three posts of Jackson on Main street photos!)

Next we headed off to Crystal Palace and checked in for breakfast!
http://postimage.org/

Baby bounce wit me..

We checked in right at our ADR time of 8:30. I noticed the contraction walls in front of Crystal Palace but didn't really mind them too much. I felt that Disney tried to disguise them pretty well which I appreciated. We were seated about 10 minutes later in the area to the left of the doors. We had a table in the center of the room which butted up to the round bench seating.

You can kinda see his autograph book here. Each page had a sign box and the opposite page was blank for photos.

Tigger passed through first and jackson did not warm to him as much as we had thought he would. I think the restaurant was a little too crowded/noisy for him and he was distracted. Tigger tried to get him to bounce with him before giving up and bouncing with me instead.

We each grabbed plates after the big guy came though and Joe grabbed a custom omelet. This was the first meal where I really felt a disadvantage to my Gastric Bypass. They did not have a lot of fruit/healthy options that I liked and the omelet was vaguely inedible. I still enjoyed the meal, but not sure if I would eat there again considering it was near impossible for Jackson to focus enough to eat. I didn't take any food photos in the craziness but I have in my notes that we had Mickey waffles, eggs, omelet with meat, juice, bacon, and yogurt. They did have a great spread of breads, rolls, and cereals from what I remember too. I wanted to try the breakfast casserole but was afraid it would make me sick :(

There was a huge lag between characters then all of a sudden all three were on us in a row. Piglet came by first and was cute as a button.

Pooh stopped by for a VERY BRIEF visit. He was being rushed by his handler but did manage to give a hug and sign our book.

Lastly was my main squeeze, eyeore. Jackson didn't want him to go, and I wanted to keep his tail!

At this point while we were waiting, we saw a MASS of people come trucking through when they opened at 9am. It was like a tidal wave, and I think it pushed us to finish quicker to get into the park for fun.

Once we wrapped up and paid ($75 with tip), we found our stroller and made our way towards the castle. We had a little time to burn before our first FP of the day and when we ran across Alice and the White Rabbit we stopped. They took a little break and we were about 8 families back in line. It might have taken us about 10 minutes to get through.

The handler and CM PP were fawning all over Jacksons outfit, and I must of had a million amazing photos when I checked out account that afternoon from this meet and greet. We got a ton of pixie dust from his Romper that day, which I think was awesome!

One last hug for the pretty lady!!

I was excited as it was time for our first FP on 7DMT. So as we were working out the details of child swap I realized Jackson was tall enough to ride. BAH haha. We were all having so much fun that we skipped through the FP+ line to the entrance. Those are the moments I really love being at Disney!

/url]

We decided to take a chance that he would like it and he rode with Joe. In hind site I wish I had another FP+ for this as I was so worried about Jackson that I never really paid attention as much as I should to the ride. It was cute, and although he freaked out on it, he loved it afterwards and asked to ride it again a few times!

As we were getting off, Joe looked around and wanted to know where we should scan our bands for photos. He was getting spoiled (or very well trained! ::sinister laugh:: )

From a Whole New World to the Underworld.

After stepping off seeing our favorite dwarves we made our way towards adventure land. I saw the sword in the stone and make a little pit stop, but with no luck!

We had a FP+ for the magic Carpets (another first!). Joe gets sick on circular rides but totally stepped up and rode with us. He enjoyed controlling the tilting death stick.

We wandered around a bit until our next stop at the Haunted Mansion. I love love love this ride, but everyone else not so much. I found that Jackson really enjoyed the moving walk ways. He was so independent this whole trip with being able to get himself in and out of things. It was super cute.

I knew I wanted coffee soon and to see the street performers at Main Street. We pushed our way to the front of the park and ran across the Dapper Dans (first again!). It was such an amazing performance. I loved watching them and really loved how in sync they all are- acapella is such a lost talent that more people should do!

As we made our way back down the street the Main Street Performers were pulling up for their show (a little later than the times guide said). We grabbed a prime curb spot and watched. I can't imagine them performing in full garb in the summer. They were sweating buckets and it was only 70 degrees that day! Super talented and something I recommend everyone see at least once!

After watching all that dancing I was thirsty. bah! I checked out the new Starbucks on Main Street, and as it was the rest of the week it was packed! The line went though pretty quickly and I was impressed that the pricing was not too much higher than at home.

ahhh sweet coffee

I love the Christmas decor it was my first time ever seeing it and was surprised and excited when I saw it up in most of the parks.

We have only done Crystal palace for dinner. It's fun I do want to try breakfast.

The mine train is a bit short so it's easy to miss things.

I love the Dapper Dans definitely try to see them once a trip.

Still haven't been in the MK Starbucks.

I felt horrible asking, but he had not eaten all day and I usually just let him not eat but knew that he was a whole level of Hangry for sure. Jack isn't a roll guy which is just INSANE to me. bread is life haha.

What?!? Not a roll guy!? My child is a carbaholic just like his momma lol

Yeah I usually let Caden go hungry too but it IS Disney/vacation (and Hanger is nothing to mess with! Lol) and a kid needs SOME food, I mean they can't live on nothing...although I think sometimes he's out to prove me wrong in that point. Lol.

I've been known to "run out of time so we'll just hit McD on our way" many a time just because it has been a while since he has really eaten a decent amount of food and I know he'll always eat chicken nuggets (and all the apples and the fries and the juice). And sometimes crappy food is still food in your child's belly. Lol

Man! We didn't get any really good castle photos either! Made me a little sad but oh well. We have one ok one.

Haha i took Caden on 7dmt too! Our pic looks kinda like the one of your husband with his arm around jackson. Except I looked terrified (cause I was) and like I'm trying to keep Caden in the cart (which I was). I was so scared he'd freak out that I dont really even know what happened in that ride lol
Pretty sure he liked it more than me! Lol

Ooh those Main Street performers look cool! I've never seen that performance before. I'll have to add it to the future trip list :)

You are just cranking out the updates. I stopped early so I could comment.

Love the safari pics and its always more fun when you get a great driver. And you got to see a lioness. Nice. I rarely get a full picture of the lions, so its become sort of a running joke with me!

Oh No to the meltdown at the end of the train. Not fun!

Great pics from EE. I love that ride and I usually take my camera for pics from the front row.

My tick for Kali is to bring a dollar store poncho with me. Then I hand it to someone else when I get off the ride. I look like a dork, but at least I stay dry! ;):thumbsup2

How was the moonshine cocktail? That sounds interesting.

Sorry you didn't love the carriage ride. I know there are some trails over there, so maybe that option would be better. Were the RV's decorated for Christmas. I saw some fun Halloween decorations when I was there.

Yay for getting a good parenting comment. Being the parent of two boys I remember how challenging that was. Good for you! And your code word - LOVE IT!

I'll be back to read more later!

Loved the updates.

&DMT is so short! I will make sure to hit it again in Novemeber if I can get a FP+. We are going to get tickets through a CM friend so I am worried about not getting to ride it again since we will be without jack for F&W half weekend.

What?!? Not a roll guy!? My child is a carbaholic just like his momma lol

I know right, its insane that he does not like rolls. He definitely doesn't get that from me!.

Oh Ill be the first to give him an entire meal of apple slices, string cheese, and an crackers just to make sure that at least he has something of sustenence in him that isn't popcorn or junk at the parks only.

Man! We didn't get any really good castle photos either! Made me a little sad but oh well. We have one ok one.

The timing of the performers were a little off, so make sure to hang around if you don't see them when they say on the guides, but worth the 10 minutes of pause we took to watch. Super talented!

I kept trying to lean over the front to check on them on 7DMT bc all I could think was he was going to freak out. They survived though haha!

I try to crank out a few at a time but have slacked off these last two weeks bc work just keeps getting in the way! haha.

Moonshine cocktail was good, a little smokey in flavor but I would recommend if you typically drink anything with bourbon in it. I am more of a vodka person, but I liked both the ones we tried.

I appreciated that someone noticed we were desperately trying with him, and it makes me appreciate the other parents out there that don't let their kids go ape-ish crazy just because they are on vacation. haha!

Loved the updates.

It looks like you had a great time with your breakfast with Pooh. The pictures were great!! Your day at the MK looks great so far.

thanks! Breakfast was good with pooh, I think I would like to try it at lunch with more buffet options :) Breakfast is safe with the kiddo to ensure he actually EATS so it worked for us this trip.

As we were wrapping up our visit down main street, we were asked to step to the curb at the Move It! Shake It! parade was coming through. I didn't know anything about this parade and thought it would be cool to watch. This would turn out to be one of my top 3 moments of the entire trip. The parade came down Main Street from the front of the park which I thought was different, and I was surprised that it was a mixture of random characters. Jack wanted to be held, so I was holding him and dancing and just having a good time

The parade passed by with 4 floats and performers and so we started following behind it towards the hub to head to our next FP. Low and Behold the parade stopped and out pops the fab 4 on the tops of the floats.

I might have tweaked out a little, then the performers asked us to join them in the hub for a dance party. A DANCE PARTY? Why yes of COURSE!
13Y6LAZJqRspI4.gif

ycWKiijFxvSXC.gif

Joe threw the stroller in a corner of a construction wall and we jumped in and danced around all 4 floats for easily 20 minutes. It was amazing how many characters interacted with jackson, how much he was laughing and smiling, and how much exercise we did!

He danced with Baloo and Louis, Buzz, Jessie, The Genie, Herb, and a few others. Just letting go of the schedule and plans and having fun was such a stress reliever and reminded me how magical disney can be

(SIDE NOTE- we saw this parade again later in the week as we cut through the hub, and it was when the tour groups descended on the parks. It was a nightmare to watch, they overpowered characters and trampled over families. I never really mind tour groups but this was one moment where I thought that CM should have jumped in and broke up the dominating groups that were hogging time and space from kids and families but screaming, chanting, pushing, and photobombing the space)

After the dance party was over Jackson was visibly tired so we had him crawl into the reclined stroller, gave him his blankie and he was OUT.

http://postimage.org/

Joe and I grabbed popcorn and a drink and took a break in Frontierland to chat and just people watch. It really is the quiet moments sometimes when you really appreciate your spouse.

We took turns riding Big Thunder with our FP's and I was surprised to see how much contraction had thrown up overnight on Splash Mountain for the month of refurb.

We wandered around a little more and then went back down Main Street to shop while J was sleeping. He isn't much of a beggar for toys usually but this trip was proving to be more challenging. We packed a bunch of pre-purchased Cyber Monday Disney Store surprises for him, but he was still weaseling his way into a lot of goodies at the parks (what can I say, Im a sucker for a cute kid with big blue eyes)
