Not sure if this got answered or you’ve tried by now, but I did transfer my memory maker to a friend on MDE and he was able to use it and download all their family pictures on their trip. Seemed to work exactly as expected when transferring it.
I was wondering if this would work. I knew transferring in general was supposed to work but wasn't sure if they somehow blocked the one from MMB from being transfered. So do you just have to have them in your friends and family list and you can reassign it? And were you then still able to see their pictures?

Yes, he is part of my friends and family list. Selected him in the transfer dropdown and told him I had no idea how/if it would work. He confirmed he could see it on his MDE. They took their trip about a week later and all of the watermarks were removed and they got all their pictures.

I could see their pics but it had a watermark from my view. Our MM is tied to my wife’s AP so this felt like a good chance to test how to reassign it. It’s nice to know we’ve got the option to send it to someone else if we need to.

Regarding the memory maker I wonder if the following scenario would work.

I buy an AP without memory maker, I don’t activate my memory maker I got from MMB.

I take 3 trips in 1 year but on the last I activate my memory maker. Since pictures are stored for 1 year I should be able to download ALL pictures after activating the memory maker.

Would this work?

I recently contacted MS about this exact scenario, and they said there was no transferring of the MMB Memory Maker. Clearly, another bad piece of info from the cast member on the phone. Thanks for the experience and info. Just seemed like something that should be doable since it literally says "Transfer" in MDE.

Are you referring to transfer of memory maker?

Just seeing that I have it. My current AP doesn’t expire until March 2nd and I have the unlimited with that.

But I don’t see anything at all related to MM.

Can someone tell me where you see this? I don’t see anything.
I see it in MDE, Plans, Tickets. I do not have any other Memory Make or Photo Pass on my account - not sure if that makes a difference. Listed at the bottom under "Memory Maker Purchases". Transfer option is on the right.

Sorry - Disney World web site, not the app. My response sounded more like the app! I don't see it on the app.

I am not 100% sure how it works now that WDW sells APs with and without Photopass, but in the past AP Photopass images lasted a year from the date they were taken. Non AP Photopass photos expired 45 days from the date they were taken.

If the AP itself keeps the photos active for a year that's fine. If you need Photopass downloads on the AP to keep them active for 365 days then it would be a problem.

Thanks.

I guess I would need to check when first pictures are taken if they expire 45 days or 365 days after being taken.

The 30 day memory maker that's included is supposed to include only the photos taken within 30 days of activation, not downloaded.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/memory-maker/

"Memory Maker includes photos taken during the applicable Memory Maker window and linked to the Guest’s Memory Maker Disney account."

"Memory Maker includes all your Disney PhotoPass media from within 30 days from the date of activation."

Maybe you get lucky given it's Disney IT but I would think if this loophole existed it would have come up before. It is kinda annoying that you can add it to your annual pass for $99 but the $210 free one with MMB is only for 30 days.

It would be nice to have the option of AP photopass add-on for those who have an AP or the MM for those that don’t

Correct you would only be able to use them until September 30th.

If you want some for your Nov reservation you can make a fake reservation with MS on March 1 for October 1 and then cancel it. That would make the OTUP good for your entire 2025 use year.
About to do this. Has anyone done it? Did it work out the way you expected? We have trip scheduled for Nov 16 so don't want to end up in a situation of buying points for a UY I cant use in November.

I did it.
I bought points for my June ‘25 UY.

Just make sure that the dummy reservation you make is in the UY you want to use them in.

Thank you great to know We are OCT UY with a trip planned Nov 2025 If we buy today and make an Oct 1 reservation to cancel we can then have those 24 points from the cancelled reservation assigned to November and then subsequently bank 24 points into 2026 UY?

Yes if you get points for a reservation for ie Oct 1–3 2025, then the points are good for Oct 1st - sep 30(2026)
