This seems to be different depending on the country, but in the United States its’s really just 10 piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, and a beverage with two special sauces. They’re sweet chili and Cajun, with Hangul characters. I heard in other countries there are other premiums like Happy Meal style toys.

I refuse to pay for the meal price, but just recently I found I could specify these with a la carte Chicken McNuggets, plus a deal where I can get two large fries included with a 20 piece order. Not bad for $5 and tax. I had one location tell me that the special sauces would only come with the specific BTS Meal when I had problems ordering it, but then I tried the now available self service ordering kiosks, and had no problem specifying all this.

Anyone try it? The sweet chili sauce is similar to what I’ve seen at Panda Express. But the Cajun sauce seems almost like honey mustard with barely any chili kick to it.

Yep I got the sweet chili sauce with a 4 piece nuggets. I wish they would keep that sauce perminately. I swear they had this sauce (or something similar) awhile back.

It is similar in Canada. My daughter got it today. Her and 2 friends shared it. She said she liked the sweet chilli sauce more than the Cajun.

Well - we didn't get it recently, but we did get the BTS Meal paper bag a few times while buying something else.

So they had no problem just letting you have them that way?

They had the special Szechuan sauce back a few years ago almost as a joke. One time was very limited and only with a few specific chicken strip meals. Later on they had them in a less limited manner. I managed to get one when an employee asked what sauces I wanted and just grabbed a bucket and I picked that out. I didn't actually eat it but I have no idea where it is now.

And it was a long time ago but back in 1986 they had several specialty sauces and they even had chopsticks.

My oldest just got the BTS meal the other day so I tasted the sauces. I didn't really like the sweet chili but I thought the cajun was good. She didn't really like either sauce.

I ordered it in the app and got it. I assume if they didn't want you to order it expect for the BTS meal they shouldn't give it as an option when you order.

I am not sure what I am thinking. Maybe it was the Szechuan sauce. But I remember it being a promotion for the Beijing Olympics. I of course could be miss remember.

I'm looking up the history and the original Szechuan sauce was in 1998 as a promotional tie-in with Mulan. In 1986 it was Teriyaki sauce.

The BTS Meal sweet chili is a Thai-style sweet chili sauce like the at some Asian fast food places like Panda Express. I noticed it looks a lot darker because it's in a black container. I'm wondering if this is similar enough.

The meal isn't a bad deal - it is about a buck and a half cheaper than the normal 10pc nugget meal. The sweet chili sauce is pretty good and reminds me of a flavor of Kroger-brand frozen wings I used to get years ago. The cajun is just meh. But I don't think either of them are as good as the Mulan promo Asian sauces they did way back when (including the Szechuan sauce that became such a pop culture thing).

I see it's $8.39 at my closest location, with medium fries/drink. The regular 10 piece meal is $8.59, so I guess the BTS meal is a little bit cheaper. I never really get that any more since the a la carte prices are better.

Chick-fil-A nuggets are SO much better than McD's!

The BTS promotion is over, but I see these sauces are still available. Not sure about ordering them in person, but I prefer using a kiosk or ordering by their app where there’s less fuss if I have any special requests. I have noticed that these are only available with nuggets. There’s a way to specify extra sauces, but I don’t see these two (sweet chili, Cajun) included. I distinctly remember when some McDonald’s would charge extra for sauces. But I can get my three attached to a 20 pc order and then ask for any number of other things like salsa, honey, or dipping sauce.

Not sure if it’s here to stay or if they’ve got so much and are trying to use up their supply.

What the heck is a “BTS” meal?

It was a promotion with the Korean pop group BTS. Really just 10-piece Chicken McNuggets with specific sauces - at least in the US. It was other things in other countries, including special non-food items as well as special bags, cups, and packaging. At first they only came with an order of a set meal, but it's been possible to get those sauces with a la carte orders.

I guess it's gone now. Some people are selling the sauces on eBay or other websites. Anyone want to pay $25,000 for one? Apparently shipping (USPS first class) is free.

BTS Sweet Chili sauce
Condition:
New
Price:
US $25,000.00

There are a lot of cheaper options. This may be more of a "you never know until you try" to see if someone is really willing to fork over 25 grand for this.

Sorry, that would only be worth about $19,000. It's listed as "Condition: New". It is used as soon as the dipping packet left the building. No way I'd pay $25,000 for that. :p
