Marathon Weekend 2026

I had been debating between the 10k and half. This morning, when it was go time, I decided to go for the half. I’m not sure what tipped it—maybe all the runners we saw this weekend while in Boston visiting DS27. Even last night I wasn’t sure what I’d do today. I have plenty of time, of course, but I think I’ve only run once since this past MW, and it was terrible. The lesson, obviously, is to keep in good habits and not have to start from square one every time. That’s what I used to do, and have to do again. Here’s hoping that being registered will get me back to those good habits of my younger self. 🤞

i am hoping i am smarter than i look and can actually do this.
I read that line, then looked up at the avatar to see who had posted it, and the avatar made me laugh.

Thank you for that!

(PURELY a comment about the avatar, not the poster. If you have an old Commodore 64 or apple IIe, I might be able to help program. Beyond that, nope)

Well, I went ahead and registered for Goofy, despite how hard the marathon was this January. Maybe I’ll complete it if I mainly walk the half and take the full 7 hours for the marathon. Hope I’m not leaning sideways at the end this time. If I can’t make it, I will take a nice bus ride to the finish, collect my medal and snack box, and know not to try it again! I guess I’m a crazy old lady. Just ask my friends and family!
Heart & Head 2 - Body 1

I always suspected that's the way the vote would fall...

You know you're always welcome to hang with me and nanci for the full. ;) I usually take the full 7 hours plus a little more at Disney.

Crazy....perhaps.
Old lady..... no way, you're a rock star!

Question about lodging - someone in our group already tried to book online but looks like you can't go beyond 12/31/25 right now. I believe I've read in the past you could call and book ahead for 2026. Can anyone confirm?

I don't think they do that anymore. The only way now is to book something with a start date of 12/31 or earlier and try to modify later. Or book DVC...

So back from the walk and Kai (my dog) is asleep - success!

Took an hour of reading but caught up on the thread. It was like a roller coaster, going up for the big drop was all the talk pre 10am and then craziness of the ride as everyone talked about wait times, races filling up and what they got and finally the slow return to the loading area with all the thank you’s and closure around getting the registrations they wanted - or maybe just being ok with what they did not get. That was fun!

I want to echo what many have already said, this is such a good group of people! I am so grateful to be part of this community, seriously, thank you!

I already shared that I got Dopey, it will be #10! I really have issues… But 2026 is going to be different. Since 2018 my younger DD has run at least the 5K with me. The past few years we have added the 10K and then the Half; and she has gotten incredibly fast and now has to slow down for her old dad! But in 2026 she will be at college and cannot go and I just feel weird. Excited, and a bit sad. I am hopeful that 2027 will allow us to run together again at MW.

But a new thing, my older DD’s boyfriend (and I think eventual husband) got into Dopey and I was able to get my DW into the 10K but we missed out on my older DD’s 10K spot. They were planning to do the 5K, but it was already gone. So based on the advice in this community I am going to give Telegram a shot and see if we can get her a spot in the 10K. Just a very interesting day.

Similar thoughts here! I didn't have any lingering sadness that I wasn't signing up for Dopey. And I'm so relieved to not have the specter of the 20-23-26 mile long runs hanging over my head.
Just don’t do the full-length training runs.
[beckons]. Come over to the dark side: skip the and just half-@ss it…
;-)

Actually….
1. Charities if you want to do the fund raising
2. Get the Telegram app and set it for alerts when rD starts releasing additional bibs

I'll second the Telegram app....

Question on using the Telegram app - do I just send runDisney a message to get on their list? or should I be signing up some other way? Do I want Telegram messaging or Telegram X?
Thanks in advance!

In for my first Dopey! Have another marathon in the fall, and hoping to secure a sub 1:45 for an upcoming half marathon later this month for POT for A corral!
Got a half Sunday with hopes of doing the same! No full for me until WDW though. Good luck with both!

You can call in the room only. The room as long as you do not make changes to it will remain the same price, but if you try to alter it once prices come out, the prices will adjust to the new rates. The same will happen if you try to add tickets to it, which for both, I believe you have to call in. If you get the room and do not to add or revise dates the lower rate will stay and just buy tickets separately. Having said all of that, unless there is a very specific room you want, there really isnt a need to do this as its just easier to wait for 2026 packages are released. This is at least how it worked for me the last time I did something similar. The only other interesting thing I think will happen is Pop is going to be doing a refurb at that time and I am not sure how many rooms will be available for marathon weekend 2026.

The odds were not in our favor today. DW and I were both online ahead of time. We had decided that we were going to do only the 10k. My queue was more favorable than hers, but still took about an hour. A notice popped up saying that the 5k was sold out a few minutes before it was my turn. Then when it was my turn, I tried to enter my information as fast as possible for both me & DW, and when I hit the check-out button, sorry, 10k is sold out.

Bummer, but obviously this isn't going to hurt Disney one bit because all the races sold out. DVC reservation canceled, and we'll have one less trip to WDW in 2026. For those of you lucky enough to get in, have fun.

So I wanted the Goofy, which I ran this year, but had to settle for the half and the full separately. For people who were able to snag a challenge registration and convert individual races—how did you do it? Just register for challenge and then email RD?

For the 2024 Wine and Dine, my wife and I were originally only going to do the 5k and 10k, but during registration, I managed to get her signed up for both, then the 10k sold out and in my panic, registered myself for the 5k and the challenge, so that I too had the 10k. Then I logged into her account, in the registration was able to modify her 10k to the challenge before everything sold out. To do that there was a button for "Registration Options", then "Switch Categories" and since the Challenge was still available I was able to switch. When I looked at the charges, her total was about $48 more than mine.

Then for the 2025 Marathon Weekend, we were going to sign up for 5k, 10k, and the half marathon, but everything sold out so fast, we were only able to register for the 10k, then in July (using telegram notifications and being online at the right moment) we were able to register for the Dopey Challenge. Knowing we only had seconds to do it, we did not try to go into our accounts and use the switch categories option, it would have taken too long. We quickly completed the registrations then later emailed runDisney to cancel the individual 10k's. We were refunded the 10k fee (less 45.00 each for "processing fee") on gift cards.

I am now realizing that might have been the moment when we began doing all of the challenges...hmmm....

So I would say, if you could grab a challenge registration, you should be able to cancel the other two, but will most likely have a fee (probably 45x2).

Thread really took off on registration day today lol. First post on 3/11 was on page 44 just after midnight and at 3PM central time we made it to page 74. I'm going to have to go back and read all the stuff I missed! It was exciting and stressful all at the same time. I do like how its 3/11 day today. going to have to hit up youtube music to enjoy some of that music while finishing the work day.

Is there a post with today’s sell out times?

My group of 6 all got signed up for the marathon! We had about 20 browsers between us and with two good times were able to register everyone
Someone will have to sift through the posts but I think sellouts started about 50 min in and everything was gone in 79 min.
