Marathon Weekend 2026

I booked the second half of our stay too! I'm currently point poor (and with our crap dollar I can't even entertain the idea of adding on), so ended up having to do a split stay - Sun-Wed in a Boardwalk view studio, followed by Wed-Tue in a BLT Lake view 1 bedroom. This makes it real!! I'm going back for Marathon Weekend!

Getting FOMO from all you DVCers booking already. I will do my annual stalking of Swan/Dolphin prices with Pop as backup.
i mean....renting can be a really comparable price to pop, depending on the resort. but then there's the whole issue around cancelling if life events happen to you.

I'm going to probably book a short stay (looking at what points we have available) in case I come down for "just" the marathon or goofy. MW is still looking pretty unlikely, but I like to be prepared.

SAFD: (Very late response 😂) When I last lived in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 9 years ago we bought a property 100 meters from a Canal.

The tow path gave me miles and miles of flat safe and scenic running, in one spot in particular the smell from the water was
Identical to the then Splash Mountain and I would be back there every time.

Funnily enough having been away so long when we went on Tiana last year it took me back to those days running there, my favourite running route ever.

Booking a short stay is the first step to signing up for Dopey 🤣

Yes - we’ve rented before which is great - but would be hesitant that far out as you said if things change - like getting locked out of registration . I’ve been pretty good about getting S/D at almost Pop level prices as long as I stay on top of it.

Got our accommodation booked today… BLT 1br from Wednesday to Monday! Hoping that’s a decent choice for marathon purposes but I have no idea how transportation works so just going with the flow!
I stayed in BLT the two times I've done Dopey. I love the monorail access for the half/full, as well as quick access to magic kingdom if we want to pop in for just a little bit. It's also nice to be able to go up to Top of the World Lounge to watch Happily Ever After. Also, quick boat access to Wilderness Lodge for a post Dopey dinner at Artist Point

Wow! Did you get anything?
I got a vintage Disney America puzzle for my classroom that will be ruined quickly I’m sure haha! Also a Jim Shore Goofy, new Disney cruise plush set with the Fab 5 in a plush ship, brer fox, bear, rabbit beanie plushes, a couple vintage rulers, and 4 holiday inflatables. Ironically i hate plushes and inflatables haha! My husband loves inflatables though so I was a nice wife. IMG_6825.jpeg

Bay Lake is a great spot for MW! I've stayed there the last three weekends, two of those Dopey and one my patented "Happy Challenge" (where I run the 5K, 10K and Half and spectate the marathon). I usually drive to the 5K and 10K since the monorail doesn't run and parking is closer than the bus stop. I take the monorail to the other races and it's super easy. There is a lack of quick service food options, but you really can also include all the other monorail resorts and MK as "local" so I usually do okay.

Also, if you're doing a grocery run, you can exit out the north side of property at the light just outside Contemporary and there's a whole complex with a Publix about 10 minutes away. We rent a one-bedroom, so I usually do a grocery pick-up order and go get it about 3 or 4pm on check-in day.

Great tips thank you!

Wait...what?!! Would you mind telling me the address of this publix? I am not overly familiar with anything outside the Disney bubble and we have started renting a car the past few trips (and LOVE IT) but I didn't realize there was a publix that close! We usually stop on the way into the resorts when we arrive at MCO -- on universal blvd I think? I have no idea but if there is a closer one to property, I would love to know this. Thank you so much--these boards are such a gem 💎

I booked WL from 6th - 13th on Thursday to ensure we had the days covered for Dopey; the addiction is real! And then today I was able to modify and capture the 2nd to the 5th. So now we can have our park days and then our runDisney days! Now the real hurdle, registration!
