I had such a fantastic race experience, I am still having trouble processing everything!
The weather was perfect running weather for me (cold in the corrals but perfect when in motion; granted I live in Canada so this is springtime weather for us!), the course was fantastic with so many highlights - running on Main St, going through the castle, Star Wars Alley, crowd support from CMs in AK, even the blizzard beach parking lot was fun!
It was my first marathon so obviously a PR, but I was able to accomplish my ideal goal of sub-4 (not officially - chip time is 4:04 but my watch says I ran 43.03 km in 3:59:45 so I will take that!) - my main objective was just to finish it, ideally below 4:30, but I never thought I could go this fast
I was able to stop for almost all the character stops that had a photopass photographer (I think I stopped at 21 during the race + 4 photo stops at the finish!)
As so many have said before, thank you so much to all of you for your support through this wonderful journey. Your advice about training, fueling, how to manage race day and all the wonderful kindness and support has been amazing. This is a very rare thing these days on Internet forums, so I feel very grateful to be part of this community!
Today is a day I will always remember
Until next time friends! (Not next year for me, but maybe 2026? Let’s see!!
)
