Marathon Weekend 2025

At mile 7.7 today, I will hit my 200th official runDisney mile. At mile 1.93 I will hit my 200th unofficial runDisney mile.
at mile 1.0 I hit the wall...and then dragged that bastard to the finish line almost 7 hours later for my worst marathon time ever - but it's a damn marathon! and I was expecting it. :)

congratulations to all and thank you for being my friends.

edit: oh and thanks @marty3d for keeping me company for a while.

As of 9:32 Baloon ladies aren’t at mile sixteen. That’s when I passed that intersection coming out of AK.
I know. I think we had time but whatever.

Is this you on the course? One of my mom’s friends had to DNF but she posted this picture on FB and called you a bright spot! She’s also from Michigan!
That's her!

We passed Everest about 9:30 and they were telling runners they didn't have time to ride. Standby was posted 30 min.
Oh i meant RnRC. I wanted to ride it yesterday but wasn’t able to fit it in. Actually went by when it had a 45 min wait and I asked how long single rider might take so I could maybe jump in and out and they said “45 min”. 🤷‍♂️

I had a horrible time today! I started feeling a bit off the morning of the 10k but was much better yesterday and had a fun half. Then today back to feeling awful, had a lot of nausea which in part is due to how little I’ve managed to eat this week (I don’t think I even ate enough to offset the half yesterday). The cold really got to me and today it was freezing again. I kept on my throwaway zip up until mile 20! I was so thankful I wore a headband and buff and gloves today or I don’t think I would have made it.

Despite feeling horrible I did manage to get fluids down (tailwind and nuun endurance) and managed 5 gels. All I could handle pre race was 2 applesauce pouches. Surprisingly I never hit any wall and was able to mostly run until mile 15 or so. Was really just one foot in front of another. Did a lot of walking after that. Still was able to run about 50% of the time. I spent about 50 minutes doing photos and I did skip Everest as I was worried it would make me sick. Managed to finish under 7 hours but I was paranoid about my pace the entire time even though I know in reality I had a huge head start out of corral B.

This was a reminder to me how hard Dopey is, not just the races but the nutrition and hydration and sleep etc.

Congrats to everyone who finished the marathon or challenge today, and my sympathy to anyone who had a tough time today, marathons are never easy no matter how hard you train, and some things are out of our control.

Hi everyone! Sorry I missed meeting you earlier, but my marathon was AMAZING!! I had the best time on the course, stopped for several pics, and got to ride EE and TOT! I wasn't going for any time goals but I paced myself pretty well and am pretty sure I had negative splits (if one doesn't count character and ride stops- ha)! It was pretty fun passing a lot of people the last few miles :) The only sad part is my watch tracking stopped sometimes during EE so I had to restart it, but if that's the worst that happened I can't really complain! Love the pic I got in front of the castle, too.

I wanted to thank everyone for their support and advice throughout this training cycle. I don't know the next time I will be able to do the Disney Marathon, but I am grateful to have found this community :)

I had a great race today! The congestion was much much better. I did 60:30 intervals and most miles had paces in the 12 or 13 min range. I PRd by like 8 minutes… but this year I rode TWO rides during the race (Everest & ToT) when I rode zero last year. The hardest part was getting my legs moving again after Everest but some salt chews and a cup of Coke from medical did the trick. Very proud to have completed Dopey #2!

Have such random post race stream of thoughts.

So happy with my Saucony Endorphin Speed 4’s - ran in them yesterday and today. (And they dried pretty quickly yesterday, with a little assistance from a hair dryer). I ran in Brooks Adrenaline in 2023 and my feet were my weak link during that race, sore, sweaty, an annoying blister, et. These Sauconys were super comfy, speedy, breathable, yet also supportive. Two thumbs up.

Love hearing everyone’s experiences!! Ankle held out for all 26.2, and though it wasn’t a PR it was a really, really fun race. And I’m with you, @Disneyhanna - lack of sleep really hit me this race but hoping i won’t have any issues with that tonight (go to bed, brain - there’s nothing to be anxious about tomorrow, you already have a ROTR LL!)

My post-race tradition is to gorge at Garden Grill, here’s hoping I can drag my carcass there in time for the reservation 😂

Boy, running towards Animal Kingdom in the dark through smoke machines and laser blasts really made me miss the Star Wars races. At least it was a little taste of what we once had. All in all, I had a great race and finished with my second best marathon time. After a disappointing race last year, I’m back sub 3:30 and can enjoy the next few weeks when I convince myself that this is my last marathon.
Famous last words…

Congrats to everyone who ran today! I am not pleased with Disney parks operations. When I passed ToT and RnRC, I was physically blocked from riding. “No runners allowed on rides in MGM,” is what I was told. Half an hour later, they started letting people on. I demand justice! :rotfl2:

As in the past few years, I am starting the thread early for next year. People who experience FOMO over the next week now have a thread to dream upon.

Marathon Weekend is January 8– 12, 2025

Registration is April 9 at 10am EST

I'm waiting :rotfl:McFlurry John

Everything hurts and I’m dying. Not really though. Mostly just my feet would like to have a word. My blister re-blistered 3x bigger somewhere around mile 22. Had an amazing time running with @The Expert as always. We both got a crazy amount of shout-outs on course from other runners which was a great distraction. Picked up @Naomeri on Western Way and then @nancipants at Boardwalk so we could all finish together. All in all, a good day!

@DopeyBadger thank you!! Your support and company made me finish!! (Btw you were right -go figure LOL- doing Dopey without having a HM below 3hrs it is really risky)….

I finished just with couple of minutes to spare ahead of balloon ladies .. ufff those last two miles were stressful but amazing!!

@sandam1 so grateful to see you at the end and being able to thank you in person for your insights!!! Seeing you and Jeff G. At the end was a blessing!!

And with that… one and done… now I have bragging rights for ever LOL

Thank you all for your company, positivity and encouragement all this year!!

I have stuffed my face with hibachi and a bunch of snacks. My kid stole most of the snack box but I said no he couldn’t have the banana. Everything also hurts and I’m dying. I have blisters on my right big toe and heel, which is a first. I thought I felt something but wasn’t sure. Thanks again to @DopeyBadger for updating me on my pace.

The Star Wars stuff was perfect. Amazing. At the best possible time. I stopped for Phasma and Vi because I can see the others in the park.

More later. Nap now.

You and @The Expert saved my bacon for sure. I had a major breakdown back at the resort. I had nothing to drink in my room but tap water (which I don't mind, on general terms) but I was in desperate need of sugar and caffeine, so after my hot bath, I dragged myself out in search of a vending machine, only to find that the buttons are obviously fake, because it never registers when I hit them, for either Coke or Cherry Coke. I dragged myself all the way back up to my room, and called "the front desk" (which isn't actually, of course) and traumatized some poor guest services so bad with my breakdown (I wasn't rude or anything, just having an exhaustion-induced breakdown) that she said she'd have the actual front desk call me to arrange for someone to bring me a bottle of Coke, I got a call back like 3 minutes later, and traumatized another CM, but the bottle of Coke was ordered.

It took forever, like almost an hour, in which I was curled up on the bed, dying, but Mason the runner finally knocked on my door, with a bag with 3 BOTTLES OF COKE! I will be sending a cast compliment to him and to Thomas at the front desk.

PS: I was able to walk down the bus stairs like normal, and I took the stairs up to the fourth floor at almost-normal human speed. 😜😜 I mostly had to be careful because of my flip flops. I expect now that I can eat some food, get some caffeine, and get the advil on board while I rest, I should be semi-functional by the time I need to leave for dinner.

@nancipants i saw you just outside of HS and shouted happy birthday based on your shirt. Realized a few seconds later why you looked familiar 😂

@Herding_Cats and @The Expert i just missed you guys as I went through the HS ticket booth. I saw your backs as I got to the entry plaza.

I stayed to cheer the last runners and it’s so inspiring to see the folks who are clearly struggling still fighting. Congrats to everyone on a job well done this weekend!
