Magic - which deck?

Looking at booking a last minute cruise on the Magic. Decks 5, 6, and 7 are available (aft is 5, 6, or 7; midship and forward are 6 or 7). It’s about $240 cheaper for deck 5. I don’t mind paying extra if decks 6-7 are better, but is it worth it? We could also book Guaranteed and save a bit, but we have a placeholder we can use if we don’t book Guaranteed - so the price difference isn’t huge, so I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

2 adults, no kids. No sea sickness issues but we do like to spend a lot of time on the veranda. We have never been on the Magic before. We have only done with Wish.

Thanks!!

The Magic is very different to the Wish. Would you possibly use the placeholder on a future sailing if you book VGT now? Is it a Guaranteed with Restriction rate? If so, know you cannot make changes or be refunded. If it is just a guaranteed room without the restriction part you can use a placeholder to save more. How important is stateroom location to you? I personally am fine as long as I am on the ship so I always recommend saving money and using it on another cruise.

I agree. Any of those decks should be fine and I'd go with what's the lowest. And as stated, if it is a GTY rate, you can still use your placeholder! You just can't use it if it is the "with restrictions" guaranteed room.

For Deck 5 aft, those verandahs may be the navigator verandahs which you may not be happy with. Make sure to check that out before booking. They are category 7A

My suggestion would be deck 6 and a Navigator's Verandah in the aft. We have been in 6636 and 6136 on the Magic. Deck 6 on the smaller ships are perfect for us, since it is 3 decks down to get to the restaurants and 3 decks up to deck 9, which has the pools, cabanas, the self-serve soda and ice cream, etc. Noise hasn't been an issue, and the movie theatre and kid's club are one deck down on 5.

We are in 6636 in September! My mom liked the look of the Navigator's :)

Glad she liked it, we like the fact that the Navigators give a little bit of protection from the wind and sun, since it is simi-enclosed. It was raining the first sea day for our Alaskan cruise in 2022, and we were able to be out on our veranda look out the large porthole and not get wet which was a nice bonus. We have also been in 6638 twice on the Wonder and will be in 6638 again on the Wonder for our upcoming B2B in 2026.

As you can see, I really like those sets of rooms on the two classics :)

We just booked a gty room for the magic next month. We did an ogt rate. I don’t mind where they put me. I just want to get back on her. We have never stayed below deck 5 but I feel like with getting the cheaper rate we may get deck 1or 2. It will be a new adventure for us after over 30 Disney cruises
Have fun!

We been on the Magic and Wonder many times also, and we like the look of the Navigator Veranda's especially when. we have been to Alaska and Northern European cruises with DCL. We have been on Decks 5, 6 and 7 and happy each time in the Aft section of the ship because they are only a few decks down from Cabanas on Deck 9. We actually prefer the smaller ships. Last year we were on the Dream for the 2nd time as it was sailing from Southampton, UK and enjoyed it because the layout was close to the Magic and Wonder.
If you go with the Guaranteed Rate, you can always use your placeholder and save some money on the Veranda.
Enjoy your cruise.
