Hi
Just looking for Tusker House lunch reviews. I've read the breakfast review, thanks for posting. We have an ADR for lunch so I'm curious if anyone has checked it out this week?? Would love to know what type of food selection there is? For the kids as well?? Thanks for any help!:)

We ate there a couple of times in June. They've got a great salad - tell them to put the dressing on the side if you don't like a lot. Also - our 2 kids, 12 & 10 and I, still rave about the fried chicken sandwich. One thing we did was opt for apples on the kids and maybe one order of fries - if we didn't our table was overrun w/ fries. Of course they were good, we just didn't need them.

They do have a kids meal that has like a roasted chicken leg - not too bad. but the sandwich was worth splitting the first time between my 2 kids, the next time they wanted their own!

Thanks alleyphoe, I did see the review blog on allears. Just wondering if anyone else has any feedback on the DIS. Maybe even some pics????

4WLodgers-Tusker House has actually closed since their counter service menu (I will miss it too as I always thought it was the best counter service restaurant in all of WDW-I just hope their buffet is as good as their counter service food once was...) They re-opened this past week as a buffet restaurant. ;)

Any other experiences out there??

Not so sure now that I see the menu that I'm going to keep my ADR's for Tusker Lunch in December. Restaurant looks beautiful, but food-wise, I'm really not too thrilled... :guilty:

For future readers...Tusker House is now a table service buffet and is no longer selling any of these menu items.

I ate there for lunch today. Right now they have holiday prices of 23.99 for lunch and 30.99 for dinner. After the holidays, it goes down to 19.99 for lunch and 26.99 for dinner. Its an all you can eat buffet and all of the food is south african and middle eastern themed. I thought the food quality was good but not amazing. A lot of the food is semi exotic so you should be an adventurous person or else you might not get your money's worth. There are a billion different types of cous cous/rice on the menu and only four meat items and a few veggie items. It's a little off balanced. The desserts were very good, especially the bread pudding. Make sure to try that. The tables and chairs were a little too closely spaced for my liking.

Anyway, here's the menu.
An assortment of fresh breads and spreads

Cold Tables:

Blatjang Chutneys - Spicy South African Preserves, Sambals/Tabbouleh, Hummus and Baba Ganoush/ Endive, Apple and Walnut Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing/ Caesar Salad/ Mixed Greens/ Tomato and Cucumber Salad/ Sliced Turkey, Ham and Cheeses/ Tunisian Couscous Salad/ Green Bean and Onion Salad/ Curried Rice Salad/ Fresh Fruit

Vegetarian Tables:
Marrakesh Couscous with Roasted Vegetables/ Vegetable Samosas. Spiced Tandoori Tofu/ Jollaf Rice/ Pearl Couscous with Sweet Basil Essence

Kids' Tables:

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwhiches, Corn Dog Nuggets, Mac and Cheese, Corn Medley, Chicken Drumsticks, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes

Hot Tables:

Salmon Fillet/ Root Vegetables and Cabbage/ Seafood Stew/ Orzo Pasta/ Green Bean Medley/ Rotisserie Chicken/ Yukon Gold Potato Wedges/ Mashed Potatoes/ Carved Top Sirloin Roast and Pork Loin/ Cape Malay Curry Chicken/ Basmati Rice with Toasted Almonds

Desserts:

Fruit Cobbler/ Warm Banana-Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce/ Other Assorted Pastries

Hope this helps

We had already made ADRs for lunch in January, and based on the menu and pictures I am definitely keeping this in our plan! The range of veggie items looks wonderful.

We always wanted to try Boma for dinner, but we were worried our kids wouldn't like the selections. The new Tusker House menu looks like it has some of the Boma items, and the lunch price seems like less of a risk.

Thanks for posting the complete menu listing Theresa626. :thumbsup2
It sounds as if this meal will be a good alternative to some of the more traditional buffets, but then again I love middle eastern and African food!

Thanks for posting the menu.:thumbsup2

I'm not wowed, but I'm willing to give it a try. Glad to see they kept the great chicken on the menu.

B $18.99
L $19.99
D $26.99 (also has prime rib, I've heard)

I think 3-9 are $10.99 across the board.

do yourself a favor and go to Boma. Its terrific

Boma is fabulous! The nice thing about the buffet set up is that you can just take a little bit of anything that looks interesting and if you like it, go back for more. Also, Disney always has kids' offerings. Boma has chicken strips and spaghetti, but I saw a lot of kids eating buckets of the watermelon rind salad!

The new offerings at Tusker House look great and we'll definitely have to work that into the next trip. Thanks for posting, Theresa!
