Let the stalking begin!!

Two friends and I are running all three Wine & Dine races in October, we’re going to be on property from 10/22-10/27 with the goal of staying at the Poly (original studio due to the two showers and easy access to Dole Whip). I have been watching the booking tool for weeks and was finally able to book our stay and, go figure, one night right in the middle of our stay (10/24) is unavailable .

I’ve got 10/24 waitlisted, I’m hoping since it’s one night it will get filled. I’ve got the days before and after that I need and I’ve got a back-up booked just in case a split-stay becomes necessary, but we’d really love to not have to move rooms.

So now, in addition to the waitlist, I get to obsessively stalk the booking tool to see if I can grab that night myself .

I’m hoping once the MNSSHP dates are announced that will cause some reservation shuffling and the date will open.

I figured there had to be others in the same boat as me, studios for 10/24 in particular seemed like they were completely booked (except for SSR and OKW) almost a full month before the 7-month window opened!!

Best I could figure was that there was a Moonlight Magic event on 10/24 last year and people may have booked studios in anticipation of that happening again…

I hope you get the studio you’re looking for!!

That’s funny. Our family is doing the 5k together and I booked a studio at the Poly, one of my home resorts.

My son wants me to try and get into a different resort, preferably one we haven’t stayed at yet. Which is BLT, BCV or Boardwalk. I said I’ll see, which I have no intention of doing since I love the Poly.

Just got the call from DVC services! Our waitlist went through. So relieved to have the five nights, not switching rooms and not having to stalk the site any more.

That’s awesome!! There is absolutely no studio availability for the date I’m missing, even SSR and OKW are gone!!

I am constantly checking the website but nothing so far….I’m not too terribly concerned, it’s one night so I think it will come through and if it doesn’t I do have a Plan B already booked. I’d rather not move, though, so keep your fingers crossed for me!!

I was walking and watching FW cabins and 10/24 almost tripped me up too. But I was able to secure it. October 23-28. So it’s a tricky date I guess.

10/24 is nearly impossible to get anywhere. Best to book something. Disney canceled my two November cruises in January. When they did I scrambled to book something else. I ended up with an october 25th cruise. They I had to get a couple of days prior. That’s when I realized I couldn’t get 10/24. It was a race weekend. So I went on the waitlist for BWV standard studio for ONE night. Been on the waitlist since early January and nothing, nada. This was months before the 7 month window opens. Since I was using my home points to get in I ended up with 4 nights standard studio, by stalking, and finally got a pool view for 10/24 just last week at BWV, by stalking. If I have to move, it’s fine. I knew I couldn’t wait until 7 months to book. I was hoping my waitlist would fill during the 7 month window when people move rooms around, but it didn’t happen. If my cruise hadn’t been canceled by Disney I would’ve been booking at the 11 month window. Good luck.

What was strange to me about the lack of availability for 10/24 was that it was JUST 10/24 for such a long time; 10/22-23 and 10/25-26 had wide studio availability at a fair number of resorts leading up to (and for a good few days beyond) the 7-month booking window opening up but 10/24 itself was almost completely booked out for at least 3 weeks before the 7-month mark.

I have all but 10/24 booked at the Poly and 10/22-10/25 booked in a FW Cabin so if we wind up having to do a split stay it’s ok; I have a December UY so I don’t need to shuffle my contracts and bank points until the end of July so I have time for things to shake out the way I’m hoping.

The FW Cabin is my backup! I have that booked from 10/22-10/25, if my 10/24 Poly waitlist doesn’t fill we’ll do a split stay with the FW Cabin and the Poly studio.


If the cabin had the same bathroom setup as the Poly studio we’d stay there the whole time, I am not sure why they didn’t do that for a room that sleeps six…
