We have seen photos of the Kitchen Sink Challenge at The Kitchen restaurant in Hard Rock Hotel. Is the cake still served there and is it possible to stop in and just grab cake? We definitely do NOT want to try the challenge but would love to try the cake as a late snack on the way back to the room :)

I've only ever seen it eaten as part of the challenge, but someone said they had ordered the cake in its own and it was around $22........it's quite a decent size.

Can't remember how long ago though..........

There is a report in someone's trip report from some years back

It shows the kitchen challenge and has pics of it

Try to do a search I'm that forum to bring it up so you can read it

Other than that , have no memory of recent posts on it

I am going to try this in January !

I'm not a terribly big person but my friends always marvel at my prowess of volume eating!

This will be my Everest....

Making a note on the calendar to look for it when you have that feast

My eldest son is determined to do this. My DH fears we're buying him a $50 dinner (with tax and tip). I fear my son and his size 12 shoes will get it for free. ;-)

For a few days beforehand, have very big meals 1 or 2 times a day. To the point you feel absolutely full to the brim. Then drink a quart of water on top of that meal to add the "stretch" to the stomach.

Doing that for a few days in a row will stretch out the stomach more (and also aide in digesting the volume of food being consumed more than normal)

Have this last large meal about 24 hrs before contest time.

Morning of have a liquid breakfast (protein shake or the like) to keep the stomach from shrinking but at the same time getting out of your body come meal time.

So returning to this thread, I have decided to bail on attempting the kitchen sink challenge.

1. Have been to a couple of buffet's since considering doing this and I have realized that my consumption levels are nowhere near where they used to be when I was younger. My chances of success are very low
2. Got results back from my yearly physical and my cholesterol levels aren't all that great and I've been advised to take on a better diet.

So no Kitchen sink challenge for me. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be :p

So the challenge and start the diet the next month

Lol

Heh. Ya. Still thinking about that option. But we're down for 7 days, spending 4 of them in the parks. The amount of "bloat" it will do to my system (whether successful or not) will probably put me out of commission the following day (which would be a park day).......

Still tempted.....

Think of it this way
You have another full year to work on your blood levels

Go for the kitchen sink challenge on your last day there

Next few days of vacation think of the money you will save on food costs

That's actually not a bad idea. On our last day our flight isn't until 9:45 pm........ you've got me thinking......

Go for it as you never know when the challenge no longer be available

I can confirm that you can just order the cake and bring it back to your room or get it for your whole table to dig in! A few trips ago there was a family there eating it. I went over to marvel at the sheer size of the beast. They also let me take a picture of it to show my friends.. ha ha

Ah this thread........

Another notch against the "don't try this" is that my flight times got changed. We're now arriving 9:30 am the first day and flight leaves at 10:30 am on last day. So the possible plan of trying this on the last day before leaving for the airport goes out the window.

My current schedule is:

Day 1 = arrive in the morning
Day 2 = Parks
Day 3 = Rest
Day 4 = Parks
Day 5 = Rest
Day 6 = Parks
Day 7 = Parks
Day 8 = Leave in the Morning

Don't see how I can manage trying this feat based on my new itinerary.

We made a reservation and ordered the kitchen sink cake only. No problem at all! We couldn't finish it split between 6 people!
