Islip, where do you park?

We are contemplating flying out of there in April but haven't ever flown from there. What is the best option for parking a car for 9 days?

The one time we drove from nj, I found a nearby hotel that offered parking without a stay. I think it was the Clarion through global airport parking. It wasn't too expensive, cheaper than the places by Newark.

Now I'm contemplating switching our October trip to fly out of there but may want to stay over the night before. I'm having a hard time finding any park/stay/fly rates online so to piggyback on your question, anyone have experience with park/stay/fly at islip?

The hotel you can park at nearby without a stay is the Clarion but for our dates it is showing them sold out. It's not till April 2018 so maybe I'm too far out. I'm wondering too if their regular lots at the airport ever fill up.

I would just do the long-term parking and walk to the terminal. You can do economy parking and take the shuttle but for and extra $1.50 a day, I take the easy route.

I have never seen the lots full.

There is lots of parking at ISP. Most of it is open. Long term parking is like $15 a day. There is economic parking where you have to use a shuttle bus to and back to that parking lot. It's cheaper. But I never wanted to deal with that. ISP is a very small airport and you will have no trouble there. I just find that SW airline prices out of ISP are really high. Higher than JFK or LGA

Thanks! Yeah in our case we are flying using southwest points and islip is way less points than flights from Hartford, ct. and the times are great and flights are direct. Southwest doesn't fly out of lga or JFK, we could have gone out of NEwark for similar pricing but I think I'd rather deal with a tiny airport. Sounds like it will be perfect for us.

We love flying out of Islip, it's such an easy airport to navigate & the parking lot is literally right in front of the airport. SW is one of the handful of airlines that fly out of there so getting thru security is really quick too.

As far as I know Southwest does fly out of LaGuardia

We fly out of Islip all of the time!! Our favorite airport - so small, so close, so easy.

We live very close to the airport and always park in the MacArthur Airport economy lot and have not had problems finding a spot. The shuttle takes 2 minutes from your car to the terminal.

One caveat - Frontier airlines just started flying out of MacArthur a few weeks ago - I would assume that that will bring more cars into the lots. But, I anticipate that it will still be fairly easy to park.

You may want to look at taking the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson ferry to get from CT to NY - it is a little pricey, but it will save you the headache of the bridges. From Port Jefferson, it is an easy 20 minute ride to the airport.

I think the Hilton Garden Inn Islip/MacArthur Airport has stay and park. I would do your research on the reviews of the hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport - a lot of them get very bad reviews, the Clarion being one of them.

I would put ISP back in the airports you include in your travel planning. We are flying on SW for a long weekend this month for $128 RT. You just have to keep watching the prices and I find that normally prices are lower out of Islip when there is not a big advertised SW fare sale. They are having to compete with Frontier airlines now.

I'm sorry, you're right they do. They don't have direct flights to Orlando though and that's what we like.

Thanks yeah looked at the ferry, might be too pricey. We have an early morning flight so we are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn by the airport (gets good reviews) so we can get in pretty late the night before. I think if we leave CT at 8pm on a Thursday night we shouldn't hit much traffic and that will have us there about 10/10:30
