In-room Coffee makers, the Ultimate Thread

Summary post #35 updated to reflect the conflicting reports about Riviera.

Some people in studios have had single cup Keurigs, but a recent report from someone in a 2 bedroom says they had a regular drip machine, not a Keurig Duo.

So, similar to CCV, if you are staying there be prepared for either type, and if you have a strong preference call housekeeping and see if you can swap if you get the “wrong” type.

Replying to myself to clarify that at Riviera, it’s specifically the Tower Studios that have Keurigs, all other rooms have a drip pot. However, you can try asking housekeeping for the other type if you don’t like the type your room has, since they should have extras of both types in case of breakage.

Updated Summary:

Value - Cuisinart flat pods

Moderate - POR, POFQ, CBR - Cuisinart flat pods
Moderate - CSR - Keurig single-cup machines

Deluxe - Keurig single-cup machines
** Big Pine Key @ GF still has Cuisinart flat pod machines

Swan/Dolphin - Mr Coffee (flat pods)
Swan Reserve - Keurig single cup machines

Large CL suites at Deluxes - may have both a Keurig & a Nespresso)

Deluxe Villas - GFV, PVB, BRV, BWV, BCV, VRB, AKL-J, C@FW, HHI, VB - Keurig Duos in most villas (studios may have single cup Keurigs)
Deluxe Villas - SSR, OKW, AKL-K - regular coffee makers - 4 cup basket in studios, 8 cup basket in larger villas
Deluxe Villas - CCV - conflicting reports, some rooms have old style basket coffee makers, some have Keurigs
Deluxe Villas - RIV - most rooms have old style basket coffee makers, Tower Studios have Keurigs
Deluxe Villas - BLT - conflicting reports, some rooms have old style basket coffee makers, some have Keurigs but villas are just starting a refurb, so the assumption is that new rooms will have Keurig Duos

I need the DVC pros to correct me, but I thought these rooms had single-serve Keurig machines. FYI.
So, to my knowledge, they had single serve Keurig’s.

However, I just looked up some recent videos, and they had those Cuisinart pots!!! It appears as of the beginning of this year, they started switching over.

Not sure. Big downgrade, IMO. I’ll continue to look into it and see if I can find any answers.

Thanks. Please post back here with any info you can dig up.

I was really surprised with the posts about flat pods at that one building at GF. I’m the same way, I feel like that’s a huge downgrade from a Keurig. (Having the same coffee maker as an All-Star doesn’t scream Flagship Resort, IMO.)

There are tons of brands and blends of coffee available in keurig-compatible pods, so I can’t believe they’d do it only to improve variety. There’s got to be some supplier-related reason or something that has prompted the change.

In Vero Beach, the Cottages have the Keurig duo machines.

My guess is that it's cheaper to supply the pods than the Keurig cups. Maybe less plastic waste, too? I agree... HUGE downgrade to go from K-cups to pods.

Does anyone know the type/size for the coffee filters for the 1 Bedroom Copper Creek Villas? Thanks!

Reports vary, even for trips around the same time period. However, since some are saying they had a Keurig Duo and some say regular basket-filters coffee maker, you’re likely fine with a basket filter, probably a medium size is safest. The Duo website says it uses flat bottom 12 cup filters, and I’m pretty sure those would fit the regular coffee makers people say they’ve had.

However, it would be good if we could get some recent confirmations of type of coffee maker and the filter sizes it uses.

At POR this is what’s in room right now - they don’t supply any pods?? It doesn’t matter to me because we don’t like them, but I find that odd as it makes them kind of useless (we brought our own kettle so we can boil water, we don’t like the weird taste out of the coffee machines for plain hot water)

The pods are in those blue Joffrey packets to the back left of your photo.

Had the Cuisinart pod machine at a hotel in NYC last week.

Though it depends upon the brand of coffee provided I couldn't tell the difference in brew between this and a Keurig.

For me, it's partly perception, I guess. Older style of coffee maker plus it's what is at the value and moderate hotels, so the cuisinart seems out of place at GF, which bills itself as the Flagship Resort. If the type of coffee maker was random rather than organized by resort tier, it might not seem like such a glaring mismatch.
