Next month my daughter will turn 21. I really would like it to be a memorable birthday. She will not be able to drink alcohol because of medical reasons. Can you give me any ideas on things to do or gifts to get for this kind of milestone birthday? Any help is appreciated. :goodvibes

How about a spa day, with massage, manicure/pedicure, new hairdo and make-up..... then take her out for a night on the town...dinner and a show, or dinner and dancing.

Times sure have changed.

My mom wants to take my son on a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas for his 21st bday in April. Actually, she wants us ALL to go to celebrate it, but she'll only pay for herself, my father, and my son. Um, yeah...can't afford that.

I don't recall getting any sort of special recognition when I turned 21. My mom's response, "Oh, well, grandkids are different."

For my 21st-I got a gold watch.
For both of my DD's I bought them a piece of jewelry from Tiffany. One a bracelet the other a necklace. I thought it would be a nice keepsake..always.

One of my co-workers got 21 balloons. Inside each balloon was money....She was very excited..

Great idea! Like that..

I remembered..I also sent each of my DD's 21 roses on their day..1 rose for each year they have blessed my life.

I am 22, so hopefully can help you out here. :)

Jewelry- For my graduation this past May, my sister gave me a beautiful pair of Elsa Peretti earrings from Tiffany that I had wanted for a while. They are silver mesh diamond earrings with pearl studs and are timeless. Some classic piece of jewelry is always a good call. I also agree with the watch suggestion.. Michael Kors's watches are really popular with my age group if your daughter likes the trendy oversized watch look. If you want something more classic, I think Victorinox watches are great too.

Technology- My latest tech obsession is the new iPhone (since I do not have a smartphone yet), so maybe she would like something along those lines? A nice camera is always great too... or, as someone else mentioned, the iPad if you want to give her something really nice.

Travel- One of my favorite gifts is always anything travel related! My graduation gift from my mom was a 4-nt mother-daughter trip to WDW this December since we both have always wanted to visit during the holidays! Another idea is just offering to pay airfare for a future trip or taking her away for a long weekend somewhere local. Travel of any kind is always great.

Casino Night- I actually did this on my 21st birthday! My dad is a musician and was playing a gig at a local casino, so my parents just got my best friend and me a hotel room there for the night. It would be especially fun if she had a group of friends to go with for a full weekend or something.

Clothes- You can never go wrong. Same goes for shoes too... I am especially in love with boots this time of year!

You obviously know her best, but these are just some of the things I would enjoy. Congrats to your DD! Turning 21 was the best thing ever. :woohoo:

My parents gave me a set of pearls. They were my Great grandmothers, and she had them restrung for me than bought me a matching set of earings.

My d turned 21 while away at school. We gave her a gift card to her favorite off-campus restaurant/pub for $210. She treated her friends to dinner a few days later (they had taken her out) & had a great time! And she had enough left for several meals during the year.

DD#1 got a Cricut machine. I know, crazy gift right. But it was what she wanted more than anything else in the world. She is now a teacher and has been an avid scrapbooker. It's been used at least once a month for the last 4 years.

DD#2 didn't give me any suggestions. I got her a string of pearls. She always wore a costume piece that my mom wore to my wedding. My dad gave it to DD when my mom died. She loved them! For her 18th birthday, I got her a necklace from Tiffany and Co. It's a wavy circle that says "Tiffany and Co New York New York" in scroll print. I can't find it online so it may be discontinued. She's gotten compliments on both. Both are timeless pieces that she'll be able to wear forever.

I love all the good suggestions here but if you're also looking for something silly, how about 21 of, say, her favorite candy? Halloween candy will be on sale soon so you can get bags of the mini bars. Or 21 stamps; 21 bottles of her favorite bottled whatever--water, soda, etc; 21 stickers if she's into scrapbooking; actually, 21 of any of her favorites.

My DD will be 40 in December, so I've collected: 40 stamps, 40 bottles of Evian, 40 mini PB cups & I plan to add a roll of quarters to my stash. My grandson suggested 40 balls of yarn but I think I'll make that either 40 feet or 40 yards as she's into crocheting hats & scarves for AG dolls. Granddaughter suggested 40 sheets of scrapbook paper. My DD is very hard to buy for & I think she'll get a kick out of our choices.

Have fun & best wishes to your DD, OP.

My parents took me to Vegas for my 21st. My dad is a frequent gambler and earned enough points for a week's hotel stay, so all they had to pay for was airfare...
