I Wonder if Disney Will Get Mad if We Disassemble the Furniture. Sept/Oct 2024 TR! (Updated 2/1!)

Yay!!!! I love your new shiny AP. I'll be joining you with one of those come November! Can't wait to hear about your trip and I hope your stomach wasn't too much of an issue.

Popping over from your last TR. looking forward to reading more. Hope you are feeling better and have figured out what is wrong. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and it took months to figure out ( hoping your diagnosis doesn’t take that long )
:welcome:, thanks for coming over to this TR! I am feeling a lot better, but still no idea what's going on. I have a few more appointments coming up so hopefully we can get this figured out!

Can’t wait to hear about your trip. And wow Minnie van! I wanna do one sometime.
:welcome:, thanks for joining in! We love the Minnie Vans, and having them take us to and from the airport is a really special treat, I highly recommend!

That's awesome! It's amazing how much we've saved already with the APs, such a good decision to get them!

Also, :welcome: to the TR! Fortunately my stomach was doing much better for the trip, so very little impact. Phew!

Day 1, Part 1: Would I Be Able to Make the Trip?

We’re going to have an almost pictureless post here, sorry about this!

Like most trips, the night before the trip I had trouble sleeping. Normally it’s due to excitement, but this time it was more nerves.

For those who weren’t following along on my previous TR, about a month before the trip I started getting these weird stomach pains that continued to get worse and more constant as time went by. I went to so many doctors, including specialists, and all they told me was it was indigestion or something similar, but I’ve had indigestion before and this definitely wasn’t that. As the trip was getting nearer, I was getting more and more concerned about even going on it. The pain had gotten so bad I was only eating about an ounce or two of plain chicken every day and nothing else it hurt so much. I was not in a very good place leading up to the trip.

Fortunately, just before the trip, I started to feel marginally better so started to add a few more items to my diet and didn’t have any issues, phew!

The day before the trip I was feeling a lot better, although I was still a bit worried about food while on the trip. But I figured I could find at least some stuff that would be ok on my stomach to eat so decided that we should still go.

This whole stomach thing in the weeks leading up the trip had me in a bit of a funk, and I was so worried it would flare up again in Disney or on the flight down, so my anxiety was pretty high. Now, I normally have anxiety flying, I absolutely HATE flying and get myself worked up into a ball of stress beforehand, so adding extra anxiety was, well, unpleasant. Not to mention, Helene was hitting FL the evening before I flew down, so I was also worried about that.

And guess what! Anxiety makes stomach issues worse! HAAA! Of course. :rotfl:

The night before the trip, I went to bed early, but it took like 2-3 hours to actually fall asleep. Then I woke up around 4:30 to use the bathroom, and couldn’t fall asleep afterwards, so once again starting the trip off with hardly any sleep. I’m shockingly good at doing this! ::yes::

I finally dragged myself out of bed a bit after 6:30 and spent some time cuddling with my dog. The one thing I hate about travelling (well, the other thing besides flying) is leaving my pets. I miss those furballs so much while I’m away!

A bit after 7 I took my dog into the vet where he was being boarded, then headed home for a much needed shower.

I had some time this morning before I had to leave for the airport. Instead of booking an early flight, I decided to book a midday one so I could bring Dug into boarding this morning instead of the previous day and save some money.

I had some breakfast when I got home, double and triple checked I had things set up for my cats and their pet sitter, charged some things again (my stupid watch is only holding a charge for like 12 hours these days, I seriously need a new one), and of course spent some quality time cuddling with my cats.

Around 9:30 I called for an Uber, and one came within 5 minutes, and about 10 minutes after I was at the airport.

Checking my bag was quick, and there was only a short line for pre-check this day (seriously everyone in DC has pre-check so the line can get long! Years ago, before I had pre-check, I was flying with a coworker who had it, and I made it through the non-precheck line about 10 minutes faster than she did in the pre-check line!)

Once through security I did the only logical thing, went to find my gate to make sure it existed. Seriously, doesn’t everyone do this? I feel like we all do. :rotfl2:

After confirming my gate did in fact exist, I went off to a store to pick up a bottle of water, then found a place to sit and wait for my flight.

I got to the airport a bit earlier than I should have so had about an hour wait, but it went pretty quick and soon it was time to board!

The flight down was uneventful, thankfully, and took just under 2 hours.

This flight we flew way out over the Atlantic, which isn’t typical for this flight, usually we’re over land for most of the flight, but I guess we were avoiding the hurricane so flew further east. The cool thing about this is we flew over Cape Canaveral, so I got a shot of some launch sites as we flew over!

We landing right at 2:10, and for once it wasn’t a super long taxi to the gate.

Since I was in row 2, I was off the plane pretty fast, and made my way to baggage claim. Since I was flying Jetblue we were in terminal C, which is just so much nicer than A and B. It’s practically empty and so easy to move around.

The only downside to terminal C is the bags seem to take forever to come out. This day it took about 40 minutes. Ugh.

The good news is my bag was one of the first to come out, yay!

Bag in hand, I made my way outside to catch an Uber and soon I was on my way to my home for the night, BWV!

The ride over was pretty awesome too, the driver was playing all the 90s/early 2000s hits, got a lot of Savage Garden and Enrique Iglesias on the way over, made my younger self very happy!

Next up: The First Hotel of the Trip….BWV!

Noooo not stomach pain! I feel like I was reading my own health history laid out 💔 I also have crazy plane anxiety--pairs extremely well with being a military spouse of course ☠️ We literally never take morning flights if we can help it because my night-before anxiety always screws with my sleep.

I'm glad you managed to get through everything and get started on your magic vacation!

Joining in!!! SO sorry we couldn’t meet up… it was absolute craziness with the kids and we were running around all trip!! I hope you had a fantastic vacation and can’t wait to read all about it :)

Yay!! So glad you started your trip report. And glad that you were feeling well enough to travel!

Yay! A Trip Report! I was there 28-Oct 5 but sadly didn't see you and I did look.
I checked into BWV afternoon of the 28th but I'm sure you had already checked out. Darn.

Our trip was lovely (mother/daughter like yours) and shockingly the weather was good (dry except for our AK day) as you know. Glad we didn't stay a few days longer as I had wished now that hurricane coming.

Back to your report. I'm excited to read it!

Wow! That was serious pain. I can see how that would stress you out.

I turns out that you managed to travel in-between two hurricanes.

The long wait for the luggage is why we switched to carryon's for our trips.
I miss the days when Disney would pick up the luggage at the airport and deliver it directly into the resort room.

Sorry about the stomach issues. I hope they are better now. Have the doctors checked your gall bladder? Most people get acute attacks, but I had near constant stomach pain and nausea for months before it was determined to be my gall bladder. And in my case, stress (which was constant at the time at work) made things so much worse. I was ready to rip it out myself since apparently mine was not an acute attack so I was put on a schedule almost 2 months later to have it removed.

Yeah, it was a pretty miserable month, thankfully it has gotten so much better!

Plane anxiety sucks, especially if you have to, or love to, travel a lot! I will say I've gotten better with it over the years, I've found watching this one pilots videos on facebook has actually helped a lot, he really dissects incidents that have happened and why they have and what has changed to prevent them in the future. He also goes into deep dives on everything pilots do during the flight, which for some reason really helps me calm down and at least appear that I'm not having a minor panic attack on the flight!

:welcome:, thanks for joining in! No worries about the meet-up, I get it, things can get crazy in Disney. Plus it got a tad rainy that day so we didn't stay as long as planned in the MK!

:welcome: , thanks for joining into the latest TR! And aw man, that would have been fun if we ran into each other!

Yeah, it was pretty great weather for September. Although we kept mentioning how it felt hotter than usual for late September. Like the afternoon storms that usually cool it off for a bit seemed to have made it hotter this trip. But maybe we had just acclimated to the cooler weather up north before the trip, it got cool in our areas super early this year so heading from the 70s (for me) and the 50s (for my mom) to the 80s and 90s really hit us hard this trip!
Back to your report. I'm excited to read it!
Yay! I hope you enjoy!

Yeah, there was about a week there that I was certain we'd have to cancel. I was pretty miserable. Thankfully I started to feel better before the trip!
I turns out that you managed to travel in-between two hurricanes.
We did get super lucky with the timing of our trip!
The long wait for the luggage is why we switched to carryon's for our trips.
I miss the days when Disney would pick up the luggage at the airport and deliver it directly into the resort room.
For shorter trips I'm all about the carry-ons only, but for over a week I wanted the extra space to bring more stuff AND for all the souvenirs. And YES! I really miss when they luggage would be delivered right to the room. That, and the having park purchases sent to the resort, are two things I would absolutely LOVE them to bring back.
