I love credit cards so much!

Well crap, I got a need to review decision on the Hilton BIZ. It said they will notify me within 14 days...I leave for WDW in 14 days, need to have it before then if I get it!! Yikes! Never had that on an AMEX Biz before, I only have 2 of their credit cards currently.

I took the instant card option. But, just got the card this morning anyway - did not ask for expedited delivery, so haven't tried to add it yet. I'll work on it later this afternoon. Plastic. Plastic. (That's actually a good thing - I've been carrying my daughters Ritz and that thing is a weapon! (Daughter had surgery and just got out of the hospital yesterday, so I've been busy.

I know, I've been carrying P2's Ritz because it won't fit in her phone case wallet, and man does it suck.

Hope your daughter is doing well!

No Hilton Biz card for me:sad::sad::sad:

I got a pop-up saying "based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer". It then asked me if I wanted to proceed, which of course I did not! So my pop-up was different than the one that @LynnTH received, and mine was a lot more definitive.

Boooooo!!!

This is odd. Other than the Biz Plat and Green, what else have you opened/closed? I would bet that I've done more damage than you on the card front. I've had the SPG Biz, Personal Plat, Biz Plat, Green, and now Hilton Biz, all since April. Granted, I had two legacy cards with them (ED and BCP) for nine years, according to the homepage lol.

If you've had other cards, as @Lain mentioned, have you put any spend on them after meeting the MSR and getting the bonus?

These are my cards:

Chase Disney Visa - a loooong time ago
CSR - 1/18
JetBlue Plus - 1/18
SPG Biz - 3/18
CIC - 5/18
Amex Biz Plat - 7/18
Amex Biz Green - 8/18

Seems like it's a velocity issue. They see you've signed up for 3 AMEX biz cards in 5 months and maybe aren't too keen about it? Either way...bummer :(

@schmass -

@SouthFayetteFan, I’m not sure about that. Like I mentioned, I’ve opened 5 Amex cards (2 personal, 3 business) since April before today, but I didn’t get a pop-up warning when going for my 6th card with the SPG Lux.

I think @SBWB48 ‘s stats are very similar.

Ever since I started following Amex bonus denial DPs and noticing a lot of them mentioned not putting any spend on the cards after hitting MSR/getting the bonus, I’ve tried to take advantage of Amex Offers and put regular spend on my cards where there are category bonuses.

How’s your spend on your Amex cards, @schmass?

I’d add for @schmass, if you still want to apply for the Hilton Biz, you can try to do it over the phone and confirm with the Amex rep the terms of the welcome offer and that the bonus will be attached to your card. After calling in for the Biz Plat, the Hilton Biz should be a cakewalk.

ETA: However, if the phone rep also tells you that you’re ineligible... then, I’m out of ideas. Maybe you can try to rehabilitate your relationship with Amex by putting spend on their cards.

I truly have not followed the new Marriott restrictions very closely because both P2 and I got the Marriott Biz cards in January, so I figured we were locked out. And the Lux doesn't interest me. But P2 has never had the SPG Biz. Just to make sure I am understanding correctly, we have until tomorrow to apply for the SPG Biz and she will be in the clear? Or is there something different about the SPG Biz that would preclude her from getting it?

I think it's ok, but I want to make sure.

She can get it until tomorrow.

I've spent just under 10k on the SPG Biz, and since receiving the Biz Plat I've been putting most spend on that. I am still using the SPG Biz for the offers, though. I've put one charge on the Biz Green, but with that being so new I'd be surprised if they're holding the limited spend on that against me!

I think I'm going to take this as a sign and hold off for now. Any ideas when they might deem me bonus-worthy again???

Hello! I have been lurking for an embarrassingly long time and I've read literally hundreds of pages (probably close to a 1,000!) on this thread. So informative and I'm hoping to become more active.

I guess I'm asking for a WWYD? I'm sorry in advance because this will get long and rambling! Here's our current situation:

I put most spending on a Citi DoubleCash, opened 12/15.

DH has a CIP that he puts the majority of his spending on. He owns a business and has approx $800,000 of expenses a year (though most are not CC spend eligible). I am set up as an employee on this card.

We recently used the CIP 80K bonus for 7 total RT flights to WDW. DH has put approx 40,000 points on the card through organic spending since Feb, and I could probably push him to put more (as opposed to writing checks for the business).

Our limitations are TIME. We would both love to travel more, but although we both have ample vacation time, we are typically constrained by the seasonality/work load requirements of our careers.

I think we could benefit from the CP, but I'm thinking I would maybe want to delay trying for that for another year or two until I am in my job longer with a little more flexibility to travel.

Right now, I believe we could obtain the flight points we need for our annual WDW trip through DH organic spending on the CIP. BUT, should I try to open up another type of Chase card to try and get points for Disney Resorts/tickets? Approx how many points is it to obtain a mod resort through UR?

Basically, I'm torn between doing nothing OR opening up cards to collect points/bonuses although we have no definite travel plans in the next two years outside of our typical travel that we can use CIP points for. I'm wondering if I wait around maybe I will obtain a better sign on bonus with the CSR or CSP?

If you read this far, thank you!!

I should have specified that...I'm just assuming they didn't put any additional spend on the card. I sock drawer every card, never put another dollar on them in most cases, lol. I just assume that to be the case unless stated otherwise, haha!

Call them. It may be something simple. Then if you get approved have them overnite it.

Echoing @Lain, I've gotten the SPG Biz, Personal Plat, Biz Plat, and Green (all between 3/18-7/18) and had no issues getting the Hilton Biz this past Saturday. I will be going for the Lux tonight, so will let you know what happens with that. I assume nothing, a la @Lain. I've also put spend on all of the cards post-MSR either for Amex offers or to top off on SPG points before the conversion.

I don’t know. I think there are people who are trying to rehabilitate their relationships with Amex by putting more spend on their cards. I’d try to spend more on my Amexes and try applying again in a month. But this anti-churning thing Amex has got going on is so new that DPs are mixed or still developing.

I'll be putting a $7000+ purchase on an Amex in the next few days, hopefully that will help.

I'm trying to be positive about this:
At least I knew about it before getting the card
I am trying to collect Hilton points for Hawaii in 2021, so no immediate need for the points
I already have Gold Hilton status through the Biz Plat

I'm going to go in a completely different direction. I'd log in on a different browser and try it again. You didn't actually apply so have nothing to lose.

Hey there - thanks for coming out of "lurkdom"! I have some scattered thoughts for you:
  • Even though you have no definite travel plans - it's always better to earn points ahead of time! Ultimate Rewards (for example) don't expire so earning them now and using them later is possible!
  • I would not expect a better sign on bonus with CSR/CSP. They have been VERY steady at 50k points for a long time. I'd guess you've been reading alot about "double dips" and if anything, my long term concern is that someday the double dip could go away.
  • As far as how many points are required to book a mod resort - that's difficult to answer. Are you traveling in late January, Spring Break, Early September, Christmas? As you are probably aware, hotel rates vary greatly based on time of year.
  • Let's assume for a minute you're booking a $300 / night room - for 7 nights that would be $2,100. IF you have a CSR card you could book that with 140,000 UR points. If you only had a CSP or CIP it would be 168,000 points.
I would recommend the following ideas:
  • Have your husband refer you to a CIP
  • Consider doing a CSP/CSR double dip for you OR husband
  • Then have the other spouse do that later (and refer them)
You could earn a LOT of points here for that next awesome trip pretty quickly!

Also - if you've lurked awhile, you're probably aware of DISchurners - do you want to join our private group?

Let us know how it goes.... I need to call and switch our attached certificate.
I would hold off if yours is attached. I haven’t had time to check flyer talk today, but as of last night any changes to attached certs were causing cancellations and return of points amounting to the surrender value. Something about the computer is hardcoded to do it. I know one person spent days on the phone and finally got their cert reinstated. I’d avoid the crazy for now.

Hi and Welcome....Have you considered having your husband refer you for a CIP...there are lots of us here with “businesses” who apply as sole proprietors using our name and SS if you sell on eBay etc, babysit etc you can apply.
This way you get another 80,000 points on your card and you get 20,000 on your husbands for the referral

The SW CP is worth getting..but it sounds like your better off waiting a bit...also apply at the beginning of a year so you get the CP for almost 2years

Keep asking away...everyone here is very helpful

I chose to use the CSR over UR for this exact reason.

*But, also because I booked through Costco. If you have a Costco membership, it's wonderful in that the reservation is charged only when you return the rental and by the rental agency, NOT Costco. Even better, you can cancel up until literally the time of the reservation. I canceled one the morning of after we decided we no longer needed the car that day. Also, you can cancel and rebook as many times as you like if rates keep changing, no fees or anything.

@SouthFayetteFan booking through Costco and then using the CSR travel credit on the car is what I do too. Plus then you have the CSR for the extra insurance and you just need to pay the base Costco rate which if you check all the time can end up being super cheap. Usually I can get a minivan for about a week for under $200.
