I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

My brother applied for a Disney premier visa on Monday and it went pending. He only has two open cards, excellent credit, etc. he called today and they just said it was still under review, nothing they could do. Is that unusual for a Disney credit card?

Ugh. I made the reservation no problem with Hilton for the free night award, but I didn't realize I couldn't add myself later. I was acting rushed so the person didn't question me too much, and I thought it would be weird to add myself when I was in my husband's account. So now I have to call back :(

Does anyone have a crossbody bag they like? Something a bit structured.

I have on that I'd roughly 11"x11"x 3.75" that fits my refillable water bottles and some other things. It's great for the parks and travel but it's more casual than I want to use on some trips. It's Eddie Bauer so can fold up and also cram a lot of stuff in it. But I love the size, most of what I've found so far is smaller or way too big. My water bottles need to fit.
I have the Travelon Heritage Hobo. I liked it so much I bought it in a second color. It has a short hobo strap you can use/remove or you can use a longer crossbody strap. I bought a few different crossbody straps to add some color/decoration. Definitely fits my 16 oz water bottle, umbrella and more. It may not suit your needs though because it's pretty casual.

I just got the Wanderfull. It’s casual though so not sure that it is what you need. I like it so far - only used it on one non-Disney vacation so far. I am pleased with it.

Any thoughts on that hotel, based on what you saw? I will be staying there and attending a convention there.
We didn’t stay at the hotel but the bar was really cool and has a lot around it. Its in the original train station so lots of original architecture from when it was built in the late 1800s.

Any opinions on the Hyatt Chicago River North?
(ETA) Or the Hyatt downtown/loop?

We need a hotel that will sleep 3 kids plus 2 adults and is relatively walkable to the train and other spots.

I've only stayed at the Centric so far, but will be checking out the Park Hyatt soon. There are so many Hyatts in Chicago, so hopefully someone else will chime in with a review. River North is a nice area.

Sometimes co-branded cards can have higher chances of approval, but I wouldn't read anything into it. My score is 800+ and *every* application goes pending with Chase and most of them get approved. The 7-10 day message doesn't mean rejection anymore, either.

We have stayed at the Hyatt Place, River North. Nice location near lots of fun restaurants. Noisy outside but they actually had white noise machines in the room!
Rooms for 5 are hard to come by in the city!
Which train do you want to walk to? The Loop location gets you near Ogilvie and Union Station (Metra stations)
Enjoy your time in Chicago!

Yay. DH approved for a CIP this morning with a 10,000 CL. He has an open CIC and CIU, both carrying balances.

Wasn't expecting such a high initial CL. I kept the CL on those other Inks fairly high (currently 10,000 and 18,000) so I can transfer some to the new card, as we have a lot of spend coming up. Will close the CIU in May after I pay it off. Went for the CIP because of the 3X on travel.

A CSR question…DHs CSR annual fee hit 3/1, statement closed 3/19….he wouldn’t call to PC to a no annual fee card. If I SM Chase today to close will the annual fee be refunded ? I think yes but want to double check here

He also has three green star..your already approved offers on various inks…which to me makes no sense since he was just approved for one 2 months ago and has 5 business cards open. Do these green star offers mean anything?

No idea on the green stars, but it has usually been 30 days after the AF hits to cancel for a refund.

How far apart did you space out applications? I got a CIU in early February and planning a CIC after maybe 6mo (so August) and a CIP after a year (Feb 26). Is this a reasonable strategy? And unsure how these affect 5/24 since they’re business with conflicting DP reported 🤔

You have to call to PC a card because they have to read the new terms and you agree. You can close via sm with chase.

Designer Park Co has a backpack that transforms into a crossbody by pulling the straps and holds a full size water bottle that you can also connect a long straw like a CamelBak. It’s called the Park View ☺️

Recently I have spaced out Chase business cards 4 or 5 months apart. Chase business cards don’t add to your5/24 count but you need to be under 5/24 to get them

3 months is the usual rule of thumb, this includes Chase personal and biz cards. Having only 2 open Chase biz cards will increase your chances, so you may want to close the CIU (after a full year) before you apply for the CIP.

Chase biz cards don't add to 5/24. But recently there was a glitch and Chase reported many biz accounts. I think they're still in the process of removing them. You'd have to check all 3 of your credit reports to see if you were affected.

Reporting today that my Hilton Alexandria Old Town visit (with $50.61 spend) credited today on my Surpass. Purchase was March 23 and today is March 29 so 6 full days to get the credit.

This was at the Starbucks inside the hotel. There is an outside door leading directly into the Starbucks area. Also, on Sundays parking on the street is free. I would not go here on a busy day as I would not want to pay for parking or hunt for free parking.

Reddit had reported getting credited at this location so I switched from an 'untested' location to this hotel. The receipt says 'Hilton Alexandria Old Town' and the charge posted with most of that and a little more in the title. No Starbucks gift cards are sold here.

I was originally just going to grab a latte but, instead I decided to just spend the whole credit. Have another coming shortly with more time to 'test'. I got myself a metal Starbucks tall skinny cup with Virginia stuff all over it. I like it. Could be used as a water bottle if you don't get the coffee flavor on it. Also some Starbucks Via which is something I'll use but would not normally buy. Ordered a hot thing made with potato and cheese and it was okay. Grabbed a protein drink from the cool stuff which my DD drank. I tasted it and found it gross. And my usual hot chai tea latte which was delicious. I think there was something else but I can't remember.

I'll do this one more time and then close this card. I don't consider this a real 'value' as I normally wouldn't go out of my way for Starbucks as they are everywhere unless I could buy a gift card. I didn't go out of my way that much as it's not far from a Trader Joe's that I go to fairly often, so combined trip. Oh, correction: one more time for Starbucks and then in July, actual Hilton at the beach. Then close the card and later app for an Aspire. (I need to write down my plan so I don't go off track).

EDIT: got 12X HH points = 607 points or maybe 3 bucks in points or less

His last Inks were CIU in May '24 and CIC in August '24. He had gotten a CIC in Dec '23 which we cancelled after a year. On personal cards he is at 4/24 so I don't think his Inks counted against that. Your plan sounds reasonable to me.

We are slowing down a bit on the Inks. Looking at 2023, he got a CIC in Feb, CIU in June, CIP in Sept, and the CIC in Dec! I got 3 Inks that year. i am going to try again soon but after my last app where they kept accusing me of fraud I am hesitant.

I got an email from USPS that they received a package today in Macon, GA that will be delivered tomorrow signature required. It doesn't tell me the shipper, even looking at informed delivery which to me is odd as regular packages do.

Given recent events it has me concerned though she says she doesn't know what it could be. It also never tells you who anything is addressed to so that's of no help.

Nothing we've ordered isn't accounted for. The last time I had to sign for something it was WDW tickets from undercover tourist so I don't even know what comes this way.

Any ideas? I tried googling but with very little to go on I didn't get anything.

Update, it finally came today while I was out so I didn't actually get to see it which I knew would happen when it didn't come yesterday.

She says it's a check that says it's for Easter dinner and airfare but she doesn't know the person so she's sending it back but she didn't show me. She left to get gas and I'm guessing mail it so I looked and found the envelope. Quick google and nothing comes up with the woman's name but it also looks like a guy's handwriting, suppose the post office could have filled it out. Looked up the address and the listed owners names also don't match, though it could be a rental.

I'll look at her bank account once she's home to see of she deposited anything while she was out. Still suspicious and still no trust but can only do what I'm able to do.
