I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Thank you! so you didn't have a car?
I don’t like to drive overseas, esp when I’m solo. Stavanger and Bergen are both very walkable, but if you want to venture further afield I can see how a car would be beneficial. I did take a tram, then walked a distance to see an original stave church in Bergen. I also able to take a tram to the airport.

Has anyone heard any further update on Chase bonus5x in March. ( Rumored to be Insurance)

I called CS and they acted like never heard of this. lol
Whatever it was I remember this also. And it was insurance because I made a note on my insurance file to follow up on it as I have an almost 1K bill to pay. Something tells me it was my Freedom card, but not sure. I believe I heard of it through an email, and I'll (later) try to muddle through all the old email.

I looked on the Freedom page to activate and insurance/tax prep is listed along with the other categories but specifically says March only.
doc has this:

P2's CSP is finally 48mo old! I need to PC or cancel before March 4th. We have a few nights at Swolphin booked for mid March using points from the card. Just need to confirm that it shouldn't interfere with that trip if we have to PC/cancel? Thinking PC to freedom might be preferred anyway.

Yes I saw it in a Jan email.....but at suggestion of another poster it is now on the chase page. I just looked
on details on 5x category. Listed starting March 1st only. I have the same 1k insurance bill to pay lol.

Any opinions of car rental insurance? I rarely rent. I have a VenX that covers collision. But AMEX offers
has 75 off Avis rental ( but I have to pay with reg Amex card). Does anyone buy any extra insurance or
your private insurance is fine?

Really down to Hertz president Circle paying with VenX 300
or Avis paying with Amex blue and getting 75 off. (but no extra insurance). 250 (with 75 off)

Thanks!

Data point - instant approval for Chase Ink Biz Cash just now with two CIP’s open last year (Apr and Aug) and that one weird application that I put in in December for the CIU, but then a Chase letter came in the mail while I was on vacation to reach out to Chase and I missed the timeframe.

We're looking at tacking on a quick visit to Disneyland Paris at the back end of our London trip. Has anyone stayed at Marriott's Village d'ile-de-France? Thoughts? Is it pretty straightforward taking the train from London to Paris, and then getting from the Paris train station to Marriott? We'll have luggage and kids with us, so trying to figure out logistics.

Eurostar from London --> Paris is very easy. Pricing is dynamic, so book tickets as soon as you are sure of your dates. The Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord and to get to Disney Paris (I'm not sure where the Marriott that you reference is located), you will need to take the RERA from one of the stations that it stops at. With kids and luggage I'd recommend taking a taxi to the nearest RERA station. I've taken the RERA many times -- it is super fast.

Agreed on the Eurostar from London to Paris...St. Pancras to Gare du Nord (or sometimes called Paris Nord). According to Google Maps, it looks like you can take a train from Paris Nord to Chatelet - Les Halles and then the RER A to Disneyland Paris.

I found The Man in Seat 61 to be very helpful when planning my train trip from London to Paris and beyond.

I also found a 10% off up to $20 on my Amex Marriott and Hilton cards. So if I pay 200$ with Amex and the balance on my Freedom I can push the value up maybe $10.

Not sure which Blue, but it might have secondary coverage. You can check here. Or you can buy Amex premium primary coverage for about $20 per rental. Link

I decided to try for another CIP before trying for a CapOne. Latest CIP was 08/24, then I also got the CIU in 10/24. I had another CIP I cancelled in 08/24. I hit submit and completely forgot about my credit freeze. Got a popup to unfreeze Experian. Nice to know exactly who they are using and that it was only Experian. They pushed the app through but now Im in the waiting game. I considered lowering my Disney Visa limit prior to applying but I did not.

When I went to activate the last Ink card that DH applied for, the prompts had me create a new login (I guess it didn't recognize that he already had a chase login for some reason), so he now has two logins.

I need to get them merged - if I add myself as a user on his new ink card as well as one of his inks that is in his "normal" login, would I be able to call in and do that? Is there a downside to adding myself as a user on a biz card? He will call, but I'd rather do it during business hours and we aren't together during that time frame too often.

Has anyone done a Christmas river cruise? I’m trying to come up with a trip for November 2026 (my 50th). Initially I was looking at a Greek Isles ocean cruise but that’s definitely the tail end of the season. We’ve only done ocean cruises on Disney before. I know river cruises skew older and I’m not sure if we’d be bored on the ship. Wanting to use URs. My other idea is 5 days in London and 5 days in Paris. But I’ve never been to Greece or Germany/Netherlands.

Thanks for the dynamic pricing info. I just checked and it's $200pp one way on Eurostar! That's an extra $1k for our family of 5. Do you know if Eurostar prices come down close in? I know it's a pain to go back to LHR/CDG, but I'm wondering if it's worth it to fly? Flights would be points (free) + $150 for all of us. So I'm saving $850 for the hassle of going back to the airport....

That's a matter of personal preference, but I prefer to travel city center --> city center and avoid the craziness that exists at both Heathrow and CDG. This video might be interesting for you to watch, but do keep in mind that the airport timing only works if there are no flight delays, bomb scares (which I have unfortunately experienced), etc. Maybe think about Gatwick --> Orly since both airports are considerably smaller and closer to city center.
