I Like Warm Hugs! - Mommy/Toddler Trip ~ Updated 6/20: New Trip Report Link!

I'm glad you were able to ride ToT that day and Izzy got to sleep. It was interesting with two strollers and blocking the ipad case section of that store lol, I remember having to keep stashing stuff as Izzy was very content playing with anything within reach! Glad she fell asleep though and got a decent nap. She was certainly happy that evening!

Your time at EPCOT sounds wayyyyy more exciting than my afternoon :rotfl2: but at the time I definitely couldn't have stomached the walk over in the heat let alone ice cream and a martini - though they do look fab!

I love morocco, and glad you made the decision to enjoy EPCOT in the rain!

I still haven't tried the L’Artisan des Glaces yet. Hearing all the raves though, I think it's time to change that.

I have to give you some serious credit. I have trouble just walking with the Martini glass when I get a slushie. Balancing all that WITH a stroller? :worship:

Funny, but that spot has actually been one of my escape the rain places as well. :goodvibes

That was nice of Lauren to watch Izzy again - and great job outta her to get Izzy asleep. I mean, run off to ride ToT and come back to a sleeping Toddler?!?! Pretty ideal :thumbsup2

To bad about going the wrong way but you still did pretty well time wise, got to see some more resorts, and I am sure helped your step count for the day :goodvibes

Love the PP spot by the fountain in France - just saw Lauren's from the trip with Aria holding her umbrella in front of the fountain which was super cute

Ah, you know my love of the brioche ice cream sandwich but I didn't see the martini thing last time - that sounds really good ... enjoying those two snacks in the World Showcase with a sleeping toddler sounds pretty darn nice - especially right about now with the weather we have been having.

“I like the way you roll!!!” ... well, too many of those martini's and you'd be rolling the stroller in quite the crooked line ;)

I feel like every World Showcase area is my favorite, until I get to the next one - they are all just so well themed - glad the rain lightened up enough for you to explore some

Ummm, I really want one of those ice cream sandwiches! They have been poping up on several TRs that I am reading and they are going on the must snack list for sure!

Yucky yucky rain!:sad2: At least it didn't ruin your fun too much! I can only imagine how Izzy felt. I mean for a toddler girl falling asleep in the middle of the frozen fun and then being woke up in Japan, well, there is just no comparison!

I have a stroller question. Do you guys have the Britax B-Agle? We just purchased the travel system for our newest princess. (I got an amazing deal at Kohls.com!) Do you have the parent console? How is the cup holder? It looks like it might be sort of inconvenient, but sometimes pics don't tell as much as talking to someone else who has used it. My DH hates not having a good cupholder on the stroller and was his one hesitation about purchasing this one.

Ok I just got caught up but I'm on my phone and tired so I don't have much to say.

However I liked your rebel bag sneak entering EPCOT. I was reading along and thought "ooh! You rebel!" (Ps speaking of rebel. We totally used cadens band for some fps. Only like 2 but hey! It was convenient)

Also, that pic of hot and confused izzy cracked me up. Like laughing out loud.

Your snacks look amazing. I am definitely trying the Ice Cream Brioche sandwich (had never even heard of this prior to TheMaxRebo's TR) next time. Hopefully Rory will take a stroller nap since he can't have ice cream, otherwise I'll have to sneak away. I showed Michael the Ice Cream Martini and now he has that on his list for April!

Too bad about the rain, but you seemed to manage okay with it.

Yummy, yummy, yummy treats!! The ice cream brioche sandwich is now on my must eat list for our next trip!

I'm not sure that an afternoon could get more perfect - eating ice cream, drinking ice cream/cocktail, and enjoying World Showcase while the toddler sleeps? Perfection!!:goodvibes

It sounds like you got to do exploring even with the rain! We didn't get to enjoy WS nearly as much as I would have liked. We were there during F&W which made is so very crowded. Hoping to have some more time to explore next time!

Oh and poor, confused Izzy! I know she looks hot and tired but she is still too cute!!

Thanks so much for watching her and getting her to settle down for her nap! :goodvibes She really does love to play with anything and everything. She certainly had a great day after that nap!

Your time at EPCOT sounds wayyyyy more exciting than my afternoon :rotfl2: but at the time I definitely couldn't have stomached the walk over in the heat let alone ice cream and a martini - though they do look fab!
Hope you took it easy and got some rest and A/C. Sorry you weren't feeling up for much - that's just the worst on a Disney trip - not being able to do much even though you're right there. :sad2:

I love morocco, and glad you made the decision to enjoy EPCOT in the rain!
I'm glad I ventured out. I was just standing there and waiting and realizing that things I'd been looking forward to were not going to happen unless I did it in the rain. With a short trip, it creates a lot more urgency to do things when planned. I wanted to have memories of exploring World Showcase, not of being huddled under a roof in France waiting out the rain. It was nice to finally just wander around and look at some of the countries...and pretty empty with the rain too!

I still haven't tried the L’Artisan des Glaces yet. Hearing all the raves though, I think it's time to change that.
Add it to the list for next time! Definitely some unique treats there. ::yes::

I have to give you some serious credit. I have trouble just walking with the Martini glass when I get a slushie. Balancing all that WITH a stroller? :worship:
:lmao: Well, you do what you gotta do. Luckily, I didn't have to go far and snagged a table pretty close to the door. I was losing some martini, though, before drinking a bit off.

Funny, but that spot has actually been one of my escape the rain places as well. :goodvibes
It's not a bad spot! Lots of room and you're not really in the way of anything.

That was nice of Lauren to watch Izzy again - and great job outta her to get Izzy asleep. I mean, run off to ride ToT and come back to a sleeping Toddler?!?! Pretty ideal :thumbsup2
Could not have been better! Of course, I wish that Lauren had felt better, even if that would have changed that scenario a bit. But, yeah, she worked some magic!

To bad about going the wrong way but you still did pretty well time wise, got to see some more resorts, and I am sure helped your step count for the day :goodvibes
So, your comment about step count made me curious...I have a Fitbit and I had it at Disney, so I went back to look at this trip: 8/30 = 22,908 steps, 8/31 = 25,791 steps, and 9/1 = 21,100 steps. So, yeah, this day was the most! :faint:

Love the PP spot by the fountain in France - just saw Lauren's from the trip with Aria holding her umbrella in front of the fountain which was super cute
Those were really cute pictures of Aria with her umbrella. And that fountain is a great Photopass spot usually - it was odd that nobody was there and the PP person seemed bored. :confused3

Ah, you know my love of the brioche ice cream sandwich but I didn't see the martini thing last time - that sounds really good ... enjoying those two snacks in the World Showcase with a sleeping toddler sounds pretty darn nice - especially right about now with the weather we have been having.
It was quite a slice of heaven! :cloud9: I actually knew about the martini before the sandwich - I think I'd seen it on the Disney Food Blog, but only heard about the sandwiches on yours and Danielle's TRs. Both great treats for nap time!

“I like the way you roll!!!” ... well, too many of those martini's and you'd be rolling the stroller in quite the crooked line ;)
Indeed. Heck, at the end, I got a lot of the alcohol at once from the stem of the glass, so I might not have been so steady in Morocco and Japan - at least the paths were pretty empty with the rain! :rotfl2:

I feel like every World Showcase area is my favorite, until I get to the next one - they are all just so well themed - glad the rain lightened up enough for you to explore some
I feel like we are always rushing through the countries on most trips and I really wanted to take some (nap) time to see a few of them better this trip. They are all so unique and beautiful. I'm glad I was able to salvage a rainy afternoon to explore a bit. Hoping to do more of that in May, as I didn't get to all the countries.

Ummm, I really want one of those ice cream sandwiches! They have been poping up on several TRs that I am reading and they are going on the must snack list for sure!
They are quite a tasty and unique treat. However, I would recommend something other than the mint ice cream. It was still good, but something about the combo of bread and mint just seemed odd - I think there are probably better choices. I know the Disney Food Blog showed a few that looked pretty tasty!

Yucky yucky rain!:sad2: At least it didn't ruin your fun too much! I can only imagine how Izzy felt. I mean for a toddler girl falling asleep in the middle of the frozen fun and then being woke up in Japan, well, there is just no comparison!
I know, it's such a shock to wake up in another land! :rotfl2: At least she slept through the rain, I guess.

Yes, indeed! And we love it! We have the Britax parent console and I love that too! The middle compartment is magnetic and fits quite a bit and stays closed, even when you fold and flip the stroller. I leave stuff in there all the time - in fact, I'm pretty sure Dug's Magic Band is in there right now. :rotfl:

I haven't had any issues with the cupholders, other than the normal issue of cans of pop splashing around, but that happens with any stroller if you're not on smooth pavement. There are two cupholders and they fit a lot of cups/bottles and they are insulated, so that's nice too. I think it looks awkward in pictures, location-wise, but it's always been convenient to use. Here's a picture where you can see it pretty well:

Let me know if you have any other questions. :goodvibes

Ok I just got caught up but I'm on my phone and tired so I don't have much to say.
I know how that goes. ::yes::

However I liked your rebel bag sneak entering EPCOT. I was reading along and thought "ooh! You rebel!" (Ps speaking of rebel. We totally used cadens band for some fps. Only like 2 but hey! It was convenient)
Haha, I'm a wild Disney rebel! (I was the rebel spy in December 2013, after all). :rotfl2: And you are a rebel too! :rotfl: Man, us moms of 2-year-olds are TROUBLE. ::yes:: But, yeah, I wasn't ruining that nap for them to glance at her spare outfit unless it was the price of admittance to Epcot.

Also, that pic of hot and confused izzy cracked me up. Like laughing out loud.
She was not her normal self there for a few minutes. I think she was roasting, since it was August and she was under the rain cover. But I think she was also baffled as to where she was and what was happening. She snaps out of it soon, though.

Oh, good point about Rory. I wonder if they have anything there or nearby that he could eat? Otherwise, get him napping and scarf it down behind him. :rotfl: That will work good if you each get one and you can try the other. :thumbsup2

Too bad about the rain, but you seemed to manage okay with it.
At least most of the trip was non-rain, so I guess I was lucky. And, thankfully, my over-preparedness paid off and I had the necessary gear to continue with our plans despite the rain. Sunny and pleasant would have been better though. :rolleyes1

Yummy, yummy, yummy treats!! The ice cream brioche sandwich is now on my must eat list for our next trip!
Yes, worth a stop! Fun and different and refreshing and savory all at once. It's quite literally an ice cream sandwich, I guess. :rotfl:

I'm not sure that an afternoon could get more perfect - eating ice cream, drinking ice cream/cocktail, and enjoying World Showcase while the toddler sleeps? Perfection!!:goodvibes
It was quite ideal for sure! However, it does get better. The afternoon at Epcot ended up being SO much fun, especially after Izzy woke up. :cool1:

It sounds like you got to do exploring even with the rain! We didn't get to enjoy WS nearly as much as I would have liked. We were there during F&W which made is so very crowded. Hoping to have some more time to explore next time!
With all of our trips, you'd think we'd have wandered the countries a lot more than we have. But I always felt like it was rushed or we were on our way to something else and couldn't fully enjoy them. And this was rushed too, I'll admit, but it was nice to wander just for the sake of wandering. I really want to do more of that next trip.

Oh and poor, confused Izzy! I know she looks hot and tired but she is still too cute!!
Haha, thanks! :flower3:

That Martini looks awesome and I really want one... However I don't drink, did you happen to see if they had a non alcoholic version?

I didn't get to see much of Epcot on our last trip (despite doing both the 5k run and the segway tour through there) so I'm hoping because we're staying at BWV this time I'll have more time just to wander.

Good question. I didn't notice anything, but I wonder if they could come up with something for you? Not sure what to substitute? Maybe one of their sauces (chocolate, etc.) or a drink you provide poured over ice cream in the fancy cup? The martini was the pricier of the two treats, I'm sure due to the alcohol, so not sure if they would adjust it? Can't hurt to ask what they can do. :goodvibes

We're staying at BWV on our next trip too, so I feel the same as you - hoping the proximity will help me be able to wander over and enjoy World Showcase.

So, when you have two TRs going and one pending, what is the best thing you can do? Yes, that's right, start a PTR on top of all that. :rotfl2:

So, here it is:

"Is Mickey a Captain or a Jedi? Both!"

Our trip is 4 months from today and we finally got our plane tickets booked! :cool1: This will be our first "Land and Sea": WDW for 4 nights, Disney Dream for 4 nights, and back to WDW for another 4 nights! :woohoo:

Please stop by and join me for the planning (you know, if you have time after reading all of my other current reports... :lmao:)

See you there! :goodvibes

Thank you for this trip report. It looks like you both had a lot of fun! My daughter is currently about the same age, and also has a blue Olaf shirt :rotfl2: I wanted to bring it and have her wear it with a skirt as well. She loves Olaf, and the only Olaf shirts I could find at the time were "boy" ones.

Also I am really impressed you did a mommy/daughter trip with a child this age! Here I am worrying about the plane ride, and both me and DH will be there with her

I don't know how you're managing all these TRs - I can't even handle my one!!:rotfl:

Yay caught up!

It totally does look like Izzy is checking out the characters in the corner, how cool!

What an awesome shot you captured of the mother/daughter. And such an incredibly strong woman, to do whatever it takes to make her daughter happy. Makes me very grateful for having a healthy child as well.

I like (not love, but like) Frozen, but honestly i'm SO glad we didn't have a girl the first time aroumd. I'm sure we'd be doing every Frozen event that was available and i'd have a very unhappy DH! :lmao:

Those poor CM's in the parade. They must have been dying:eek:

You did pretty good on TSM for having to take care of Izzy too!

Score on a TV table! We got that too on our first visit and it was such a fun experience!

Yay for not having to grab the bag from under a sleeping Izzy.

Can I say how AMAZING you are at balancing the brioche sandwich, the martini and a stroller. You truly are a pro :worship:

:lmao: love the tip regarding the collected alcohol in the stem. Can't waste that precious liquid:thumbsup2

I wish I had your writing commitment. :rotfl2: I thought about creating a PTR for our trips after Alex's deployment, but then I realized I already fail at updating in a timely manner and I would just be setting myself up for failure. :lmao:

The walk to Epcot from DHS is a long one, and I'm sure it felt even longer in that August heat. I guess the only positive is that you ensured Izzy stayed asleep for her nap.

That ice cream shop.....oh my goodness it sounds divine! How to choose...? I declare that if our trips overlap in May we ditch the kiddos with the dads and go split one of those sandwiches. My treat. :rotfl2::lmao:

Ahh, got to love summer rainstorms in FL. I like that you just embraced it after Izzy woke up and continue used with your WS touring. What's a little rain after sweating up a storm in the heat?:confused3
Besides, it looks like you got to explore some out of the way spots, which is always fun.

I am still impressed and amazed at how much you were getting done as a solo parent. You weren't letting a minute go to waste!:thumbsup2

:welcome: and thank you for reading! Yay for DDs with blue Olaf shirts! :goodvibes I've noticed there now seem to be a lot more Olaf shirts for toddler girls, but that was all I could find at the time - but I still love it, as blue is my favorite color! :thumbsup2 Good luck with the skirt - I hope your DD is more cooperative. :rotfl:

Also I am really impressed you did a mommy/daughter trip with a child this age! Here I am worrying about the plane ride, and both me and DH will be there with her
I hope your flight goes well! I bet it will be better than you expect (Leshaface - below - just came back from a trip with her DS of the same age and she had been really worried about the flight, but he did great!) You know, I might just be lucky with my DD, but I am absolutely loving this age. She is young enough to still be really into the magic, but old enough to communicate fairly effectively and understand when I explain things or ask her to do things. Makes it much easier - I think I had more trouble with outings when she was an infant and didn't respond to reason. :lmao:

I don't know how you're managing all these TRs - I can't even handle my one!!:rotfl:
Heck, I don't know either. Though I can tell you that I am looking at a living room covered in toys and other random junk and just leaving it there so I can DIS. :lmao:  Really, though, I have so much swimming through my mind about May that I just had to start something so I'd have a place to organize my thoughts and clear my mind a bit, despite having two other reports going.

Yay caught up!

It totally does look like Izzy is checking out the characters in the corner, how cool!
That border really worked out well! :thumbsup2

What an awesome shot you captured of the mother/daughter. And such an incredibly strong woman, to do whatever it takes to make her daughter happy. Makes me very grateful for having a healthy child as well.
Thanks. I debated taking (and posting) that shot, but I really wanted to capture that moment and I happened to be at a great angle where I could just take a picture of the whole snow area and she happened to be right there. Whenever I feel like I'm having a rough day, I need to remember that scene. I've got it pretty good and I'm so grateful for Izzy's health.

I like (not love, but like) Frozen, but honestly i'm SO glad we didn't have a girl the first time aroumd. I'm sure we'd be doing every Frozen event that was available and i'd have a very unhappy DH! :lmao:
Or he'd learn to love it. :rotfl: You'd probably have to bring a baggie of churros along as rewards for him. :rotfl:

Those poor CM's in the parade. They must have been dying:eek:
I felt so bad for them - no idea how they did it. Hope they had massive glasses of ice water waiting for them when they got backstage. And Mickey bars! :mickeybar

You did pretty good on TSM for having to take care of Izzy too!
I was pretty happy with that score!

Score on a TV table! We got that too on our first visit and it was such a fun experience!
It's nice to get the full experience!

Yay for not having to grab the bag from under a sleeping Izzy.
So glad he didn't make me wrestle it out. I will have to remember from now on to remove the bag before reclining.

Can I say how AMAZING you are at balancing the brioche sandwich, the martini and a stroller. You truly are a pro :worship:
Why, sure, you can say that. :flower3: I really just felt like a clumsy fool, though, sloshing martini all over and trying not to drop anything. Thank goodness the brioche plate was small enough to mostly fit on the parent console and I managed to find a table quickly.

:lmao: love the tip regarding the collected alcohol in the stem. Can't waste that precious liquid:thumbsup2
I pointed it out because I didn't really realize it until I got to the end and took a sip and...whoa! Yeah, it's all in there. :rotfl:

I wish I had your writing commitment. :rotfl2: I thought about creating a PTR for our trips after Alex's deployment, but then I realized I already fail at updating in a timely manner and I would just be setting myself up for failure. :lmao:
I used to have a really hard time updating my TRs quickly (like Dec. 2013 :rolleyes1) But, for some reason, I am doing better lately. I think part of it is just being so excited to recount these trips and all the fun. And part of it is that it's winter and there's not much else to do late at night when the toddler's in bed. Except, you know, that cleaning and stuff I skip. :rotfl2: Oh, and the sleep I don't get. :sad2: I need to work on this, I think. ::yes::

The walk to Epcot from DHS is a long one, and I'm sure it felt even longer in that August heat. I guess the only positive is that you ensured Izzy stayed asleep for her nap.
Yep, that was my plan - walk and let her sleep. Just got more of a walk than I bargained for. And didn't realize how little shade there is along that path.

That ice cream shop.....oh my goodness it sounds divine! How to choose...? I declare that if our trips overlap in May we ditch the kiddos with the dads and go split one of those sandwiches. My treat. :rotfl2::lmao:
Sounds like a plan!! :goodvibes I would love that! :thumbsup2

Ahh, got to love summer rainstorms in FL. I like that you just embraced it after Izzy woke up and continue used with your WS touring. What's a little rain after sweating up a storm in the heat?:confused3
Besides, it looks like you got to explore some out of the way spots, which is always fun.
I was totally having this debate in my mind while standing under that roof - I really didn't want to go out in the rain, but I had that exploring I'd really been looking forward to and very limited time - so it was do it then or don't do it. Glad I braved the rain - and, you're right, when you're hot in August, it's not bad.

I am still impressed and amazed at how much you were getting done as a solo parent. You weren't letting a minute go to waste!:thumbsup2
That's for sure. We were on a tight schedule and I think our Epcot visit might be the best example of that. There is a lot to come before we get back to DHS. It was crazy, but so SO fun! :thumbsup2

Hello!!! We are back from DLR and I am recovered enough from the plague that struck me this week to get to work on catching up on the DIS! So I had to come here, of course!

 I love that you can do better on TSMM with a toddler next to you than I can ever do. Willow and I are hilariously bad at that game - I like to think it’s because we don’t do it often, but honestly, we just suck at it.

Ooooh, 50s! We have never eaten there, but I’m always tempted - it seems so fun. Your experience sounded great, and the food looked really yummy.

Awesome ToT experience. And I agree - no WAY was that a 10-minute stand-by wait. No possible way with a line like that! That shirt you pictured - Willow and I ALWAYS think about getting it. So far, we have not. :confused3:

Oh, I am loving reading about your nap time adventures - reminds me of a the ONE TIME ever that Willow napped in a stroller. It was Epcot, and I actually got to try a couple of F&WF things before it came to an end. You definitely made better use of your time - I WILL NOT forget to try the new France ice cream place this summer; it looks and sounds amazing! And you totally know that I’m going with the drunken ice cream concoction! :woohoo:

Going to try to make my way over to your PTR as well. I am terrible about keeping up with those - including my own, which I have not remembered to update in ages!
