Three times now my youngest son (5) has had a fit of hysterical laughter while sleeping. It happens when he is awoken to move into his bed, if he's fallen asleep on the floor or couch. He doesn't wake up and laughs so hard he can barely breathe. His eyes stayed closed. After about 3-6 minutes of laughing, he wakes up, looks completely serious, and doesn't remember any of it.

It's funny when it happens, but very strange. Has anyone else's child gone through this?

I'm an adult but this happens to me on occasion. I remember laughing when I wake up though just don't know what I was laughing at. Some type of dream I'm sure.
I wouldn't sweat it. Only a happy person would wake themselves up laughing.

One of my sons used to do this all the time. He was and still is a happy go lucky kind of boy. Not a bad way to go through life!:thumbsup2

I have a niece who did this as as kid all the time, then it stopped, for years, until she was pregnant with her last child.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My nephew did this once when he was an infant, probably 3-6 months old. It was absolutely hysterical to see this little baby laughing like that. My SIL and I laughed until we cried. He carried on like that for about 3 minutes until he just stopped. He was absoultely 100% asleep the entire time

What I wouldn't do to have those few minutes on videotape!! :rotfl2:

My youngest ds does this too. He also calls out for his brother, and talks alot in his sleep.

Ive heard my kids 'giggle' in their sleep...I've woken up myself laughing...and usually when I wake up....I'm still laughing..remembering the idiotic thing that got me going...like, really stupid words that get me laughing...

Of course, I've also woke up crying :( not quite as fun

Ditto for me. It used to drive my DH (now ex) crazy. It was usually over some inane dream.

OMG OMG OMG! I always thought I was the only one! I never heard of anyone else laughing in their sleep. It's so good to know I'm not alone! :goodvibes

I actually did this the other night. I woke myself up laughing. Then I realized what I was laughing at, wasn't even funny. :confused3 I guess it doesn't take much for me to start laughing. :lmao:

One of my daughter's friends did this one night when she was sleeping over. She was cackling so loud that it woke me up and I found her standing in the hallway. This was the only time it happened but it was very unsettling.

I used to scare to poop out of my mom b/c I would scream in my sleep!:scared1:
I do this to DH now, I will whine, whimper, scream, and cry. Sometimes I even hit him while I am sleeping. :confused3:
