Does anyone know how to remove the sticky residue left on walls from those decorative wall stickers? Mine were Disney, by the way, and of the 12 on the wall the 4 Mickey ones left a sticky mess behind. I am getting ready to paint the room, but I don't think paint will stick to that stuff so painting over it is not an option. I have Goo Gone but I am afraid that will leave an oily mess. I have primer, do you think I can paint over it with that?

Oh, by the way, the Tinkerbell, and Winnie the Pooh stickers did not leave a mess behind only the Mickeys, the square ones and cut outs.

I've never used these on walls, but I get everything sticky off with either Goo-Gone, rubbing alcohol, or Purell....I've used these on just about everything, but haven't had to try it on a wall yet. Good Luck!

Thanks I'll try the rubbing alcohol, that won't leave a mess behind. I will never use those cute stickers again!

I know that this sounds really weird, but try peanut butter. Spread it over the sticky adhesive and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then wipe off. I have used this several times and it has always worked. I usually wash the item with warm soapy water to get rid of the peanut smell after.:thumbsup2

Did you try those sponges sold everywhere, magic something....I use them for EVERYTHING and they work really well, are inexpensive, in food stores...they're white, come in a box (like mr clean on it or something like that) sorry I cannot think of name...oh magic eraser!!!!

they work AMAZING!!!!

Thanks guys, the alcohol didn't work. I did try Magic Erase before I posted. That didn't work either, just ate the eraser away! I have no choice but to try the peanut butter :upsidedow

The ladies that have that "How Clean Is Your House?" show on BBC (that show will make you OCD on cleaning)...they put a hair dryer on it for a minute or so to heat up the adhesive. I think they then use baby oil on a soft cloth.

Try Krud Cutter. It is sold at Walmart. Lowes and Home Depot. I use it to remove hair spray build up on my bathroom floor and it works like a charm. If you use hot water it should not require much elbow grease to scrub it off. Good luck and let us know what method worked.

goo gone is sure to work. MY dd put a ton of grocery store stickers all over her door and thats how I got them off.

I used Goo Gone on a painted door. Yes, it left an oily residue, but I was able to get that off pretty easily with soap and water. WD40 would probably work about the same.
Not sure if either would soak in and impact your future paint job on a wall though. :confused3

A couple of options I've used with sticky wallpaper and/or border gunk:

A little downy fabric softener mixed with warm water.

A wallpaper steamer. That got a really sticky, messy border off for me when nothing else would.

Not sure how this would work, but could you sand it off?

Good Luck!

Try something like spray and wash. They are petroleum based. I just used it to get gum off the bottom of my daughters tennis shoes. You might have to go behind it with alcohol to remove the residue before you paint. Good Luck.
