How old were your children on their first visit to Disney World?

Our kids were 7 and 4 years old. However, our granddaughter was 7 months old for her first trip, then 2 1/2 years old the second trip. When she was 7 months, she was great-slept when and where she got tired, ate what she was fed, etc.; 2 1/2 years old, not so great- she threw a temper tantrum and threw her bottle in the Muppets Fountain in DHS, sleep on buses or in parks? No way! Yet, her sister went around the same age and was fine! Go figure!

My first went to the hotels at 13 months but was around Covid times so we didn’t go into the parks until she was 18 months. My second we just took her for her first birthday. I love bringing them at this age. They are free and so wowed and amazed by everything. Does require extra planning because of naps and everything but the trips have been so much fun

Our first trip was before DVC in the early 90's, my youngest daughter was 4 and the other two were 8 and 12. We stayed at the Polynesian. We also would go to a park in the morning and back to the hotel pool midday, then back to a park later in the day. At the time we thought 4 was a perfect age. Now that 4 year old is a mother herself and wanted to go with us when my granddaughter was 18 months. I was really surprised that my 18 month old granddaughter did so well. We stayed at the Floridian and going on the monorail to MK and Epcot was easy because we could just wheel the carriage right on to the monorail. We went again when she was 3 1/2 and of course she was more aware of everything on that trip. I now have a grandson, her little brother, who is only 3 months old and my daughter would like to take them next March. He will be 15 months old by then. We'll see how that goes. lol

My oldest went to Disneyland at almost 2. Then we celebrated our youngest’s first birthday at WDW…highly recommend!
He obviously doesn’t remember, but it was so much fun and we have amazing memories. We did the character meal at Crystal Palace one day for lunch and I ordered a Mickey cake ahead of time. He was sort of a high maintenance baby, but he loved Disney. There was plenty to keep him interested.

I’m still surprised I convinced my husband a baby needed a birthday trip to Disney, lol! But our daughter was 4 by that time and we did all the princess things for her, too.

For our first trip, it was with all 4 kids and they were 10 months, 2 (almost 3), 4 and 6. It was an AMAZING trip!!!

Our first trip, our son was 7. I thought we would only go once, so I wanted to make sure he would remember the trip. We stayed at AoA in a Cars Suite (He was, still is a HUGE Cars fan). To see his face when we walked up to the Wheel Well Motel, forever etched in my memory. We've ended up going every year, except this one. He is 16 and his HS sports and Disney just don't get along to schedule the trip. But we went every year, 1st grade - Freshman year.

My husband and I have recently become first time grandparents, and can’t wait to take our grandson to Disney! I am wondering at what age your children first visited Disney World. My children were 10 and 6 on our first visit. My niece was 3 and seemed to handle it well. I am just curious about others’ experiences.

Honey I don't think I'll ever take a child before the age of 5/6 again. I took my first child at 2 and sorry, it was a nightmare! With my 2nd and 3rd children, we waited until right before 5 and then 6. I find this age they get a little more out of the experience and also, hold onto the memories. I think I could have probably taken my then 2 year old to the disney section of target and it would have been just as suffice because she doesn't remember it (lol, just playing..but I stand by 2 being too young, IMO). As my children got older, and we continued our trips to disney I found labeling everything with cute name labels from Name Bubbles also helped and cut down on any bickering ..because have you ever stood in line with 3 kids fighting over a water bottle?! LOL. Hope this helps and honestly at any age, memories will be made at the happiest place on earth!! Gosh, can't wait for my next visit!

My kids were 9, 6 and turned 3 on our first family trip! They all kept up with the pace well and didn’t complain about a mid day break once they realized that meant they got to stay up late!

20 months (for both of them). I go on vacations to Disney for me, I'm not putting that part of my life on hold because I had kids.
