How long will Disney hold my package

Hi

If I get a package sent from Amazon, ups etc how long will Disney store it?
Additionally will Disney charge any fees for storing my package, if I dont pick it up for ie 7,14 or 21 days?

I've read that if I pickup the package at the front desk i'd be charged a $5 fee - Can I pick it up somewhere else like bell services and not pay a fee?

Btw i'm not receiving groceries or other food items.

I remember reading that as a general matter, they’ll hold packages for at most a week. If box dimensions are not specifically limited, I would assume they exercise discretion in terms of what they will and will not hold. For example, with a couple of clicks, I can just as easily buy a set of earrings as a full-size sauna on Amazon.

I would be incredibly surprised if they hold packages for upwards of a month, or more. Not only is it not their business to long-term store and maintain packages, but I would assume that space (boxes piling up if there for more than a few days) and chaos (so many boxes accumulating) could be further limiters.

No clue on possibly being able to avoid the $5 fee, but my complete guess is no, there is no option of having the box at one desk for $5, but if go to a different desk it’d be free.

Thanks.

My understanding was that if you picked up groceries at the front desk or had them brought to your room there would be the $5 fee. However if you picked them up at bell services you avoided the fee. I just thought that it would be the same with a regular package.

It's a $6 fee for Disney to receive your package (per package) and they will generally hold it for about a week, you need to include your arrival date somewhere on the address portion. Packages arrive differently than grocery deliveries. They do not charge to hold groceries. Though you should tip bell services when they retrieve the items for you or deliver them to the room. Obviously more of a tip if they deliver your groceries to you. Packages go to the front desk, groceries to bell services.

I always get a $40 or so in $5s to tip the bellman when they deliver my groceries and move my stuff between resorts. I always do split stays.

So you tip them even though you have to pay $6 or do you only tip because you are not billed $6

Of course, because they are bringing the groceries to me or taking my bags to be transferred.
The $6 fee is a delivery fee to bring the items to your room. I don't know how much of the $6, if any, goes to the bell hop.

Traditionally bell services is tip driven, no fees charged.

I tip the bell hop, but it's a good question

The time limit to hold packages is a week and I’m pretty sure the charge is $6.00 which is a separate fee from having delivered to your room by bell services. You can avoid that fee by picking it up yourself.

The $6 fee discussed here is having a package delivered to the front desk. USPS and most other shipping services deliver to the front desk, not to Bell Services. WDW's policy is a $6 fee if the front desk is involved. They do not automatically deliver to your room, the guest must ask for the package at the front desk.

Deliveries like groceries go directly to Bell Services. Any cost is then for Bell Services to bring it to your room.

The poster I quoted was talking about groceries delivered to bell services. No fee if you pick them up. The question is if you should TIP ON TOP of Disney's room delivery fee

There is no room delivery fee, as @lanejudy states above. The $6 fee is for PACKAGES delivered by USPS/UPS/FedEx/etc. - which go to the front desk, not bell services. It is a handling fee, not a delivery fee. You pick up the package yourself at check in, it's usually noted on your reservation that a package is being held for you. It is not kept with luggage, it's normally somewhere in the back office (unless it's something ridiculously large). You could ask the front desk to deliver it to the room, and if so, then yes, you should tip. Anytime you request something extra to be delivered to your room, you should tip. Groceries are delivered to bell services and there is no charge for that. However, you should tip the bell person when they retrieve the groceries for you, even if you are taking them to your room yourself (at least $5). If you have bell services deliver groceries, it should be treated like a luggage delivery and tip at least $2 per bag/item delivered. Or a minimum of $5, especially if it's a large spread out resort. It takes the bell person out of rotation, which impacts their tips and at the more spread out resorts (Port Orleans/CBR/Poly/GF) it takes longer to deliver, so more time out of tip earning time.

Some guests have groceries delivered by services like instacart. Those items go to bell services. Disney charges the guest $6.if they want it delivered to their room. A poster on this thread asked if should tip in addition to the fee

The OP is NOT asking about this, a poster later in the thread asked the question.

No, they do not charge for Instacart deliveries of groceries to bell services. Bell Services does not charge $6 for groceries to be delivered to a room, they deliver on a tip basis. The only time $6 is charged (and often it is not, but you should expect it to be) is when an item/package is delivered to the front desk for a guest, either in house or arriving. And again, anything you request delivered to your room by anyone (housekeeping, front desk, bell services), upon delivery, you should tip.

YOU'RE MISTAKEN. The policy I described goes back several years. A quote from Disney's site. I've paid the fee, and tipped.
It's real.

For other grocery orders delivered to the Disney Resort hotel during your vacation, a $6 fee will be charged to your room account for each grocery delivery order brought to your room by Bell Services or Luggage Assistance. Alternatively, these deliveries may be picked up in the Resort Lobby from Bell Services or Luggage Assistance at no charge.

Edited to add a link, in case anyone thinks I made up the quote, Grocery is near the end of the page

edited to add Post 5 in this thread offered the link explaining the policy.

SOME POSTERS INSIST ON RUBBISH

Thanks everyone.

Instead of getting a package shipped to the hotel are there any other option for package deliveries?

I know Amazon has a sort of drop box for packages where you can go and collect them. But what about ups, fedex etc do they offer something similar for free?

Same as Disney. Hold for pickup isn't free storage. 5-7 days and the package is sent back.

You can have Fedx package sent to Walgreens but they won't store it for you.
Your best solution is to delay shipping your stuff.

How much stuff? Where are you shipping it from? Are you shipping it or is it coming from a place like Amazon?

Edited to add places like the
UPS Store rent mailboxes. You ship to their address and pick your stuff up at your leisure. Obviously you need to rent a box large enough to meet your needs.

Im coming from Europe and my daughters want me bring a lot of stuff home. They want me to buy electronics, books, cosmetics and the list goes on.
I don’t want to spend my time shopping for all they want so I was looking at them sending it to my hotel or somewhere else and then I could pick it up there.

I could delay shipping and pick it up somewhere else but I’d prefer not to pay $6 per package.
