How long is it? I want to know how long I'll have to hold my stomach if it makes me feel ill.......... lol I am seriously nervous about riding it next year! And I've got MONTHS till then. :teeth:

I remember reading somewhere that the video of the ride is about four minutes. Myself and my two kids (DS9, DD6) did it and loved it; a few times. But it is four very intense minutes....

They have bags for that purpose(like airplanes) in front of you.
Hopefully- you won't need it.
We were told to look at the screen- don't look around you- just straight ahead- really seemed to help.

It's like 3min. 20 seconds .

If you do EXACTLY as they instruct, especially the head back and look into the screen part, you should make it barf bag free!:teeth:

I noticed the bags when we were there last weekend. The bags weren't there on our trip in Oct. but I guess Disney learned it's lesson on the hurla whirl! Honestly not many people are getting sick on it...like I said keep that head back and look straight head at your screen and you'll(hopefully) be okay!

Thanks, 3 or 4 minutes isn't THAT long ...although I know it probably seems longer when you're on it. I don't think I'd actually hurl, but just feeling really queasy is bad enough for me! It can ruin a day ya know? I'll probably ride it near the end of the day just in case...

Let's put it very frank...If you are prone to motion sickness I don't recommend this ride. It's an EXCELLENT ride but even the best ride can become horrible for you (and the other three in your "ship") if you need to reach for that barf bag! :earseek:

When I went they gave everyone who was boarding the next ship 3 chances to leave before boarding.

Like I said, GREAT ride for those who are into it - If you HAVE TO TRY IT, keep your head back and focus ONLY on the screen in front of you.

Hope this helps!

This ride scares me too! LOL I love rollercoasters, but things that spin around make me sick. I'm scared to ride it! I'm sure I'll give it a go when we are there though!... if I can get up my nerve.

I rode MS for the first time 2 weeks ago. I loved the ride, however, I don't think I could have made it another 30 seconds longer. I was starting to get that queezy feeling. That is just me, other people may find it ok. I usually do pretty good on rides, although a lot of spinning will eventually get to me. The best advice I can give is the advice Disney gives before getting aboard the ride.

1. Don't close your eyes.
2. Keep your head still.
3. Keep your eyes looking stright ahead

These tips really do help.

I just rode MS a week ago. I've never gotten sick on a ride, but this one made me totally ill. I was very green for the next hour. That was a very looong 3-4 minutes, so if you have any doubts I would recommend not riding it. Or you could do what my motion sickness-prone friends did, and hit the Innoventions gift shop beforehand for some Dramamine (sp?), which they have in a drawer behind the counter. :) I probably should have taken some, too, but like I said, I don't usually get sick on rides. They did better with it than me, but they also got extreme tired later that night when I felt fine, so it was a trade-off.

I sat out MS last month and I don't regret it for a second.

DH went on, and came off disoriented...and wasn't the same the rest of the day.

I wish he had sat it out too.

He had done fine on every other ride and assumed this one was no different.

But if spinning makes you sick...it makes you sick. Doesn't matter if it's Disney spinning you.

Is Mission Space spinning like the Teacups spinning? I can handle roller coasters, but spinning rides are getting harder and harder to deal with as I get older.....

My dh is going to ride it first and then I'll decide for sure if I want to do it. He knows what I can handle so if he says I can do it then I will.

So are you spinning the entire 3-4 minutes? Is it a BIG spin, or a tight spin? Hope that makes sense! lol

It was the looooongest 3-4 minutes of my life.

If you are prone to motion sickness, don't do it. I took 2 dramamine beforehand and was still green two hours later

I rode MS twice and it is intense. I didn't notice the spinning, but, that is what's happening. You can feel the G-Force on liftoff and the sling shot around the Moon. There's nothing like you getting tilted back and looking up at the sky before the countdown.....5....4......3......2.........1..........let the G's begin!:hyper:

Do they have air pumping in on you. I find that I get a little motion sickness when the air is hot and stale.

We just returned last week and I must say...I really liked Mission Space but...I was queasy the rest of the day. My DS6 wanted to ride it so bad so I went with him. It was not as intense as I pictured it to be. When we got off, he loved it so much that he wanted his Dad and brother to ride it(they opted out the first round) so we all got in line and rode it again.

Me, my DS6, and my DH were all queasy the rest of the day. I think if I would have stuck to riding only once I would have been ok.

Yes, thank God. I think that was the only thing that saved me from actually getting sick on the ride. They pump cool air on your face the whole ride, I believe.

My husband went on Mission Space the middle of April and loved it. However, that night he had a problem with blurred vision. Three weeks later he suffered a minor stroke. Our doctors feel that the G forces on Mission Space definitely contributed to the stroke.

So, please be careful. We were only concerned with the motion sickness and did not even think about effects of the G forces.

My husband is OK now, but will never attempt anything like this again and he loves thrill rides.
