Just wondering what you all do with the medals. Between my kids and I we have an assortment of 5K and half-marathon (and one 10-miler) medals that are draped over mirrors and on closet hooks . . .
Most of mine are hanging on the rod in my closet, but there are a few that I have out for people to see. My set of five from my first Goofy and my Coast to Coast medals are in a shadow box. My set of five from the Texas Marathon Challenge last year are hanging on a custom rack from Iron Sport Works.
Funny you should post this right now.....I'm dusting my RunDisney collection right now. I just have them on my desk but I really need to find a way to display them.
My Disney medals are next to framed race photos above my desk in a bookshelf. My age group medals are in the closet on a hook next to my bondibands and other training apparel. I have been thinking about this too, since I have W&D, Goofy and Princess coming up....and will need more shelf space!
I need to frame more medals and change the wall since this one is too small (I have to frame the 10 miler and the 1/2 marathon hanging off of the large frame at the bottom, my TOT 10 miler, and the kid's Run Disney medals from last weekend) - but, this is what it currently looks like.
I have 2 plaque/wood piece that I got from running on the wall. It has 9 hooks and can hold at least 3 medals on each hook. You can get them in different colors and styles too.
Another proponent of the curtain rod technique. You can get 1 inch thick black six foot long wooden dowel type rods from Lowes, along with the serious mounting hardware for them (some curtains are heavy I guess). I drape them over the back of it as if the medal is on my neck, and then use a safety pin to keep it in place (ribbon looks like a V from the front). That way you can see the good looking ribbons some of them have with the year and whatnot. I have three of them going across the living room at the moment and have really loaded them down and they're doing fine. Basically ends of looking like a valance, and they all twinkle in the sunlight.
I have a medal hanger from Allied Medal Displays - mine says "My Race Bling". I have bulletin boards above it with my bib numbers and other race memorabilia. I love my little wall of accomplishment! It is in my basement so I can see it when on my elliptical machine or foam rolling!
Curtain rod fan here too. You can always add more rods under or on top. I have frames with race pictures all around the curtain rod. I keep it in my computer room/trophy room.
My DD has a shelf that she puts her trophies on with the medals draped around. She has coat racks fashioned around the shelf for the random medals. Being a former gymnast turned softball player and runner, she has A LOT of medals!!
Hi AmyAnne, Not sure if you're still following this thread or not but I saw you had an interest in how to display running medals. Just so happens that I recently started making a Display Shelf/Rack for that very reason.
Check out my Facebook Page by searching for "Running Racks & Medal Display"
I would post the link, but I'm too new to the Forum and it won't let me until I have at least 10 posts.
I have a hanger from allied metal designs that says Coast to Coast and everything in between. It has both the Disneyland and Disney World castles on it too.

I used to have each medal next to a framed race pic in a workout room. Now that I no longer have a dedicated workout room, I have them on a curtain rod. Two curtain rods now actually; 2000-2011 filled up one rod so had to start a 2012 forward rod as well.
I have shadowboxes that they are in. I'll take pictures when I get home. I have nice hinged door shadowboxes for the half and full marathon medals and less expensive picture frame style ones for the age group medals.
