Any easy recipes for a first timer. I will probably be getting the low salt spiral ham.

Tips on a good glaze. Easy is the word here!

:teeth:

Just top the ham with guava jelly. It will melt on the ham and glaze it at the same time. Just be sure to end it during the last 30 minutes or so, so that the sugar from the jelly doesn't burn the ham.

I wouldn't do this with a spiral ham, but save the recipe for future reference. It's so good!

Put a large shank or butt ham with bone in a roaster with a lid. Rub with a generous amount of brown sugar. Drizzle with 1/2 quart of honey. You can add a squirt of water in the bottom of the pan, but it makes plenty of it's own juice, in my opinion. Bake 14 hours at 225. The last hour you can drain the juices and add a bottle of BBQ sauce if desired. I like it plain. It's beyond yummy! My kids don't like ham too much, but they LOVE this recipe.

This has got to be the easiest ham glaze and not to mention the best one that I have ever made. Last sunday I made a ham, it was one of the ones in the meat cases that are already cooked but you have to heat it and glaze it yourself, hormel cure 81 spiral sliced. I heated the ham until it was hot and then I took a box of Domino dark brown sugar and mixed it with about a half a can of 7-up and then brushed all over the ham. I put it back in the oven for about 5 mins or so then I turned it on broil for about 4 or 5 more minutes and it turned out so good, everyone ate it all week, there is nothing but the bone left which I am using tomorrow to cook a huge pot of lima beans. That is the first time I ever glazed it that way, usually I use pineapple juice and brown sugar, but by far it was the best ham I ever made and it definitely had everyone's stamp of approval. Hope this helps.

I served the ham alongside some oven baked sweet potatoes topped with my own cinnamon-brown sugar butter, it was out of this world and really easy.

We just had spiral ham today, but it came with a glaze packet that we just had to make up. What we normally do if it doesn't is cook it in the crockpot with 1 cup of maple syrup (real!), 1/2 cup of sweetened applesauce and a tsp of cinnamon which we whisk all together and pour over the ham which we place flat end down. It turns out really well, just like those expensive honey glazed hams.
