I'm watching the CIF (California) high school basketball championships on TV right now. I've actually been to several of these game before when they were in Sacramento over the years, including my own high school's game.

However, during the broadcast they were mentioning that the rules allow a basketball court to be under the maximum 94 feet length. Apparently under state high school rules it's a minimum 74 feet and one of these teams had a shorter court. I'd only seen a court like that once at a small private high school when I was at an academic competition. It seemed really odd because the roof was really low and the 3 point line seemed really close to the mid-court line.

Anyone have a gym like that in high school?

no, turn it off that weird thing your watching is not basketball

Girl's or high school? They're playing at the Golden One Center in Sacramento on one of the full-sized courts that the Kings play on. It's really weird though since it's this weird alternate court.

The discussion on air was about the home gym of one of these teams.

Not high school. But my junior high school gym had out of bounds line that was the wall on 3 sides. The fourth side had several poles along the out of bounds line that were there to support the balcony where spectators sat to watch.

The court was smaller than normal, and the spectator section had only three rows for seating. There were 24 kids total in my class. We barely had enough kids for a team and sometimes younger kids were put on the older grades team just to have enough.

Our school cafeteria was in a house across the street. There were three older ladies who made us lunch every day.

It was a good time in my life. The building is still there, but it is no longer functioning as a school.

Haven't seen that, but my dad described a very short court from his HS days. They had two "center" lines so each half court was regulation sized.

I played on a court like this in HS, took the ball out of bounds, had 10 seconds to get it past the third line which would have been a full half court, then you could go back to the first line, which also would have been a full half court, the only time the center was used was a jump ball. 10 If I could draw one a post I would, think of a regular court, then put a line on both sides of the halfcourt line, maybe 10 feet away.
