Yes unfortunately that is how all of the studios are being done at WDW as well.

Called the front desk a few days ago. They are working on buildings 11, 12,13 currently. The buildings left for refurbishment that they have not started on are: 26, 27 & 29. The gal said resort reburbishment about 80% finished and also do not have a date when the elevator in Bldg 28 will be operational for guests.

To be fair, there isn't room in the studio without making it tight, due to the fact the Murphy bed takes up a lot of space when it's pulled down.

17 is still being worked on, as well, it appeared. On a side note, when you check in, you'll be greeted at the top of the stairs where you normally enter, then escorted to the left and step inside Murggie's Den where the pool table used to sit. There's a small desk with a CM to check you in. They request only one family member do the check-in process since it's tight inside that small area. It was painless and still great customer service. I got to see some of my old workmates there, so that was cool!

I think they take more space, but at BWV when I stayed in December, although I pulled down the bed to look at the picture, I put it right back up again so I'm not sure.

I'll be staying at Hilton Head in a little over 3 weeks. If I'm not too excited just to be there, I'll try to check it out. Sleepy does have a point as there is also the connecting door, which I think all or most studios at DHHIR have.

I'm just gonna moan about no tables and chairs regardless.

Yes. Plus, they've arranged the room a bit differently. Could they have shoved the queen bed and Murphy bed closer together? Sure, but it would've been tight. Now, they could have made the long dresser shorter and put a small table with chairs there, but I never much cared for that arrangement with the old studios, anyway.

They could have easily put a real chair at the desk space rather than the two ottomans that are at the wrong height to use the desk at. It wouldn't be the table and chair being requested, but it would be a real chair.

I didn't like the arrangement either. But I still liked having a place to sit and eat my takeout from Tide Me Over.

The first time I encountered a studio with no table/chairs was an AKV value. I had booked three values over Thanksgiving weekend for family. One was parking lot view, and the other two were savanna view. My DH and I were of course going to take a savanna view one. I went into the first one and checked out the view. I figured the other one probably had a better view, so I went to check it out. I didn't even look at the view. I noticed no table and chairs and immediately turned around and went back to claim the first one. I thought it was so odd that a studio wouldn't have a small table and chairs. This is a must for us. Our plan is to book only 1-BRs at HHI from now on. I was wanting to do a studio for our first night for our October trip, but it wasn't available so I booked a 1-BR. So now we are in a 1-BR for all 5 nights and will happily have a table and chairs. I could probably do one night without a table and chairs but definitely not a whole trip.

Did they switch the couch and the bed? I don't remember the bed being next to the balcony. This reminds me of an AKV value. I don't particularly like that layout, but I do think I would like it better here since the bed won't be right across from the connecting door which can have noise issues sometimes.

I wonder if they used ottomans there because the coffee table lifts to become a table and the ottomans can be used around it to make more seating. I think that is how BRV is. Can anyone confirm the coffee table lifts?

I spent one night in an AKV value 1 bedroom. I thought I was going to suffocate. Way too crowded, combined with the darker colors.

No future competition from me for those rooms.

I figure it would be uncomfortable, too. The only reason I thought it was because of an episode of DVC Fan where Amy mentioned pulling the ottomans around the lift-up coffee table in a BRV studio.

Here today. obviously it is nice to have renovated rooms but these rooms are bizarre and not themed to a fish camp. Also, they obviously used a designer who did not get the job based on merit as almost nothing in the room matches. Style also is bizarre. Our master bedroom for example has a whimsical bed that gives a fantasy land vibe while the night tables and dresser are contemporary and the lighting cheap apartment style. None of these styles are appropriate for a fish camp and none match. The bathrooms have light grey tiles with brown cabinetry? What is this? Did they just buy overstock in whatever color?

We stayed in new rooms at BCV, BWV, and HHI on our last trip and I also am questioning the renovating contractors” work. Is Symmetry no longer a thing ?? None of the cabinetry was centered on any of the walls, and none of the TVs were centered over the cabinetry!???
All the rooms were clean and bright! And, we liked most of the new artwork, especially the interior & exterior of the pull-down beds. What I really found the most disappointing is that the couch portion of the pull-downs are impossible to sit on for more than 20 minutes. They actually were painful to my bottom. I pulled in the chairs from the patio to sit to watch TV.
I’d prefer old and comfortable to new and torturous.

Assuming it is the same as VGF & PVB it is certainly not comfortable compared to the old couches as @E2ME2 stated. The old ones had cushion in the seats where these are just hard. It’s nice for those who need the sleeper but for those who want to relax in the evenings it is a downgrade imo.

We just got back from a BWV / CCV split stay and had a newly renovated room with the Murphy bed at BWV. It appeared to be the same type as they have at Riv. While not as soft as some of the older couches, we found them comfortable. They are most certainly more comfortable than the old torture couches at HHI. Eject-o-couch was accurate .

We didn't find them particularly hard or uncomfortable. Keep in mind, that they were just installed, as well, so they're going to be firmer to start. Further, I think the symmetry is still there, though perhaps not in exact alignment of items. For example, the shiplap is quite symmetrical, and I like the fact that the long, low dresser is mildly off-balanced in terms of height and throw--keeps the rooms from seeming as boxy. Those sort of touches do reflect a bit of modern aesthetic, but we didn't find it overdone which they have managed in the past. Could they have offered a bit more creative theming? Sure, but that boat sailed a couple of decades ago. Did they swing and miss as they did at RIV (personal opinion, naturally)? Nah.
