Just rented with hertz for first time. Enrolled in the Gold plus rewards as well. I see on the receipt it states pay at the counter, yet gold plus rewards I should be able to right to the garage correct? Just concerned with some people stating the crowds are a little crazy at the rental area. we're use to Alamo going straight out to car. Hertz was almost $400 less!

I know all the “skip the counter” programs I have used with Hertz, Budget, and Avis all required a counter visit the first time to scan my license.

Yep, many years ago I had to go to the counter the first time I used Gold. Every time since, no issues going straight to a car. YMMV.

ok thank you all, the reservation states, "gold members please proceed to the gold desk and a Hertz rep will assist you" We arrive on a Sun morning, hopefully not too busy. Right now they are $400 less than Alamo for a 12 day rental.

I also just signed up with Hertz Gold plus rewards and reserved through them. For first timers, does anyone know if the only reason you have to go to the desk is for a scan of your driver's license? I'm wondering: if I went to a local Hertz rental site would they be able to take care of this for me ahead of time allowing me to skip the counter. I may stop in some time in the next week and see if that is a possiblilty. There is one about 15 minutes from me. Just have to find the time to get there.

They need to scan your license as part of that they do a quick check with DMV to ensure your license is valid.

i dont see why you could not visit the local Hertz and have them scan license

Yes you can do this! I did it ahead of our last trip at my local airport Hertz location 5 minutes away.

Good to hear! I hope to get over there in the next week or so. My trip isn’t until June so I have some time.

Boy that's good to know! Just have to find a Hertz location near us!

One additional point, if you get your license set up before your trip, one way to know for sure that you can skip the line is if your name is on the big board in the garage next to the Gold counter service desk at MCO. Don’t be fooled by the people waiting in line up there. If there is a space number next to your name you are good to go. Security at the exit will print or email your rental docs.
