My BIL is going to the DR Horton Ranch in Texas with his job and by his request he needs ideas for "manly" ice breakers or team building exercises that does not include discussions or touching each other. :rotfl2: Can anyone help me out with ideas? At the ranch there will be horses and ATV's.

Well this one does include talking some but not too bad

I would set up the guys in some small groups say 4 or 5 and they each have a sheet that list things on it that they have done or seen or whatever. After that group is done rotate people into other groups by whatever choice he wants.

The info sheet could look like this:

1. Someone who has 6 kids _______________ <write name on line
2. Someone who owns a vette______________
3. Owns season tixs to a professional sport_________

and so on for about 12 questions. It starts some general conversation at breaks or whatever.

Or something manly could be some kind of races/obstacle course on the atvs. I also have ice breakers that involve m&ms but I guess you could change it to beef jerkey to be manly :lmao:

Two truths and a lie. It's also discussion, but can be on a manly level!

You say three things about yourself. Two true, one lie.

Two ways to play it.

First one, the things are written down, and passed out, then you have to find the person they go with (only works with people who actually know each other!) and identify the lie.

Second one, you say them, then people try to guess the lie (they can say why they think that).

An obstacle race with the ATV's might be fun for them. I told him do something like a scavenger hunt or gather things around the ranch to build a robot, or build a machine or something out of scraps they found, but he wasn't too interested in those!!!!!

Just have to tell you my dh's perspective on these ice breakers. He says there's nothing worse than a consultant coming in and telling them to "Close their eyes and make the sound of a farm animal and listen for the others in your group." He says it IS hilarious to see the reactions on the faces of the consultants (who think the game will be fun) when people just refuse to do it and start breaking up into their own groups. :lmao: Some of the people he works with are some of the best MD's in their field. The last thing they want to do is walk around with their eyes closed, quacking, and looking for other ducks! :lmao: They just want to get to the point of the meeting.
DH says if they want an ice breaker the consultants should just bring a bucket of cold beers.

There is going to be 10 people there. I know everyone hates ice breakers (me included) but they are required to come up with one so I am trying to help him come up with a fun one for everyone.

How about a fashion show...either they could be the judges, or they could all dress up and be in the fashion show. haha. Or how about a Poker game?

I saw this on one of those "how to host a party" shows. Put a sign on everyone's back with the name of a famous person. Then have them ask yes or no questions about their sign until someone figures out who they are. It's a good way to mingle and have something to talk about.

I say do an obstacle course with the ATV's. I know my dh would like that.

He is not into Poker games.

I tried to do some research on the internet and was pretty unsuccesful, but I did find some maybe:

Leadership tubes:
Groups are given an assortment of 27 different lengths of 1/2 in pvc pipe and different anounts of elbows, t's 90 's and 2 45's. I divide them into groups of 4-5. I give them 30 minutes to think of a names of a company for their group. Their business has to make some kind of outdoor equipment.

FOR SALE
Ask each guest to write on the back of their papers an advertisement for their local newspaper, offering and ancient article of furniture in the "For sale" section. They write "For Sale" at the top, leaving a blank space and then write the advertisement, which should not mention the name of the article. When they have finished the laughter begins. You tell them that they have just described their husbands and wives, or best friend, and they should write his or her name in the blank space and read the advertisement out aloud.

KNOCKING OFF HATS
Put some hats or caps in the middle of the room. Ask everyone to choose one and put it on. (You can also ask everyone to bring a hat or cap of their choice to the meeting). Give everyone a rolled up newspaper. They must hit each other hat off without losing their own. They are not allowed to hold their own hats on.

I am trying to find one that I did in college. It was a scenario that you were stranded on the desert due to your plane crashing and you had to decide whether to stay by the plane or go look for help. There was a list of items that was on the plane and you could only take 10 items off and you had to number the by importance to you. Too bad I can't find it anywhere!!!

Maybe with the ATV's they could do a backseat driver, where the driver is blindfolded and their partner could tell them to avoid obstacles and get them through a course. But then again I am thinking the ATV's would be too noisy. It would be better with golf carts.

Well..I was going to suggest the one were they had to get ___ people over a wall but thats touching...Um.....

Can you go into further detail? That sounds like an intersting one.

Clh2 - thanks for the link.
