I have to bring some cookies to my daughter's class picnic and I don't want to have to make anything! They must be peanut free!

Please help! Or I will be stuck making five batches of RK Treats tomorrow! OMG! NOOOOOO!!!! I don't want to buy them because they are gross from the package.

Sooo... any good peanut free cookies I can pick up from the store?

Our Walmart stocks cookies and mini-cupcakes in the bakery section that are peanut free and state it on the package.

(DD's school is peanut free, and without the peanut free on the package, we can't even bring it in!)

Oreo cookies (NOT cakesters) are produced in a non-peanut facility, even though they also make a peanut butter sandwich cookie.

Thank you SO MUCH! I think I"m going to compromise and make some RK treats and buy some Oreos. My daughter thinks I should make SOME RK treats at least (she loves making them, too).

Anymore ideas would also be appreciated!!!! Thank you!!!

I am allergic to peanuts (including nothing made in or on the same line as peanuts).

I buy:
Oreos
Chips Ahoy (even though I haven't bought those in a while and now they have a peanut butter chip one so I would double check)
Nature's Own (I think that is what they are called)

I can't buy many cookies in the store because I am allergic to eggs as well but I know there are other brands as well that are peanut free but I just can't eat them because of eggs

My daughter is allergic to peanuts and eggs as well. Tough allergies for sweet snacks! Chips Ahoy were our go-to store cookie also (regular only).

Definitely very tough! I only found out about both allergies about 4 years ago when I was 17. It was hard to give up everything!

I just make pretty much eveyrthing from scratch now. It all tastes very good and I really know what's in it but it's just so time consuming and it relaly stinks not being able to just go to the store and get a cupcake, or a cookie, etc when you are craving it

Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies are on our peanut free list.

Not that I like sharing with the kids. ;)

I know how hard that is. My daughter was five when she was diagnosed, and it seemed like all her favorite foods became no-nos overnight. Sadly this was before there was so much information available on the internet, and also before there were so many alternative products available in stores. My best resource was older relatives who had lived through the depression and WW2, and really knew how to substitute and "make do" without standard ingredients (for example, you can substitute 1/4 c applesauce for one egg in most baking recipes). They were life-savers. Over the years I've amassed a pretty large collection of cookie recipes, and one really good chocolate cake recipe. If you need some more recipes you can feel free to PM me. :goodvibes

I don't remember if it is Toll House or Pillsbury that has pre-cut sugar cookies, one of the brands is nut free. I know you said you wanted ones you could just pick up, but the precut ones are pretty easy to deal with! I think 24 come in a package!

That is great! Do they say "Peanut Free" on the bag? Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

They are easy and my daughter would have fun making them! Thank you!

My son too (and tree nuts). For some reason he can't eat the chips ahoy without getting hives. Thankfully he like Oreos and is too young to know any better!

I actually don't know. That designation didn't used to be on packaging in the past, and my daughter is almost 22 and out of the house now, so I no longer read packaging like I used to. We never had a problem with them, but recipes and production line use can change. Based on the post I'm quoting below, it sounds like they may have cross-contamination possibilities from other things made on the line. May be best to stick with the Oreos!

Okay, thanks! I'm sticking with Oreos and should I also make Rice Krispy treats? So they have some variety? Thoughts? I feel bad just slapping Oreos on the table.

I have yet to see any packaging that specifically states "peanut free" unless, of course, the manufacturer is marketing toward the peanut allergic consumer. For things like Oreo's/Chips Ahoy, etc, which I believe are Nabisco, you basically have to call Nabisco and find out what their labeling practices are. I believe, in Nabisco's case, if there is ANY chance of cross contamination, peanuts will be listed on the label even if the product is not an overtly peanut product. If it is not on the label, the consumer is to assume that the Nabisco product is safe. That's the last word I got from them a few years ago.

But, things change so it's always good to call and check periodically.

My son eats the Regular Chips Ahoy also, as well as the Oreo's. He also eats the Pillsbury Cookies that come with the holiday designs on them. Toll House are a big NO NO.

Fig Newtons. They are about the only kind of packaged cookies my DH (who the nut allergy) likes.
