According to the AAA Website:

Passport photos while you wait. Two sets of passport photos free per AAA Plus/PlusRV member, per member term. (Regular members pay $8 per set; non-members pay $12 plus tax.)

Does anyone know how this works??

It says "two sets of passport photos"...so does that mean I can get photos for myself and for my 5 year old daughter since we have the AAA Plus membership??

Also, since it says "per member" does that mean that I get two set and my DH who is also gets two sets??

I ask because we have the AAA Plus membership and my DH is one the account as my spouse. We need to get passport photos for myself and my DDs and it sure would be nice to have them do them then have to pay.

Any help is appreciated!!

You can get passport photos in a lot of places. Locally we can get them at Walgreens and CVS. However, we applied for our passports 2 weeks ago at the Courthouse and they took digital photos right there for $10.00. This was very reasonable as did not need to stop different places. Just printed off the passport applications filled in and brought the certified birth certificates and money and applied for passports and got photos all at one time.

I think this is easiest if you have small children.

We got our passport photos at AAA. DH showed his card and got his photo taken. I showed my card and I got my photo taken. They took the kids photos (mine are 5 and 3) free. They said they didn't need a card until age 16. We have the AAA Plus membership. :thumbsup2

My experience was similar to the last post, but why don't you just call your local branch?

Same here. My family of 3 got all of our passport photos for free with our AAA membership plus.

Yeah it can be done, but again, if I can save the $30 (when I have already paid for the AAA membership), it means more DISNEY $$

Here's what my member benefits guide says:

A minimal fee applies for Basic members. Plus, Plus/RV, and Premier members get free photos. Four sets are allowed per membership year.

We had ours made in October. There are four of us and each one of us got 2 photos. We have Plus/RV. You may want to check with your branch to make sure.

Sweet...thanks, exactly the clarification that I want...I don't have my benefits guide, just what I found online.

As far as the two photos, you need to turn in two for each person applying.

Yelp, I am just confirming if it is TWO sets or FOUR sets...sounds like it is FOUR!!

Take the pictures yourself using your own digital camera, then go to any store that has a picture kiosk machine (CVS, etc.) and print a sheet of them (actual 2x2 passport photos from your camera card) for a whopping $0.31, done.

Just did that for my infant son and the post office attendant asked which agency took the picture, she didn't believe me that I just took it that morning at my house and printed it at CVS! haha

Not a bad idea...though I have heard of them rejecting pictures because the background isn't right, it is too dark, etc. So I am going to stick with AAA, they are "free".

I was shocked at how easy this was to accomplish. I was in and out of the main AAA branch office in less that 10 minutes.

Just wanted to let you know that both you and your spouse must be present when applying for passports for the kids. Not an easy task when your DH works 70 hr weeks.

Great!

I know what you mean about having a DH that works long hours...stinks and sure makes planning hard. We are going to go as a family and apply for the passports on the 23rd. I called to see if they took appointments and unfortunately they don't and she said the place has been a zoo on Saturdays lately...so I think that we are going to plan to be there a few minutes before 9 when they open so we can attempt to get in and out.

Went today...they didn't want to give me the kids for free, but they did...so that is nice. Saved me a few bucks of going somewhere else.

Then we went to apply for passports...of course it is closed because of the holiday on MONDAY...guess I need a job through the government! :rotfl:

I totally agree, this is what I did but printed them on my home computer! Same thing-the lady processing htem wanted to know who took the pics and when I told her I lined the kids up in front of my white entry door she didn't believe me!
