Hello! Any advice would be helpful... I am going to Universal Studios for one day with my parents. They are in their 60's and my father needs knee replacement surgery very badly. He can walk short distances just fine, as long as he rests frequently, but definitely could not walk all day long at the park.

I have done Disney with a wheelchair, but never Universal. When in Disney a few years ago I injured my foot and had to get an ECV, and I just left it outside each ride and waited in the regular lines. I doubt this would be possible at Universal since there are less of these and I doubt you could just leave them lying around.

So a few questions.
What is the best way to get a wheelchair or ECV? I would need to guarantee one. (We will be there for a funeral and needing to stay near the Orlando Airport)
How does this work around the park and getting in lines?
How does this work with the Express Pass?

It is doubtful that you can get a one day rental for a scooter from an outside vendor; I believe they want a minimum 3-day rental. If you're willing to pay for three days and use it for one day then you can probably get the guarantee. This means for one day you can't guarantee a scooter. Not sure what the minimum is for a wheelchair rental. There are park scooters you can rent for one day, but you can't guarantee them. The cost is a little higher, but you can do one day. It's best to get there at park opening to secure a park scooter, but depending on the time you go it might be all right later in the day. The park rents wheelchairs, too.

You can take a scooter or wheelchair through most ride queues. Some rides may have a special handicap line. In some cases you may have to transfer from a scooter to a park wheelchair at a ride. In shows you can just stay in the scooter or wheelchair.
