Has anyone gone to a standing room only concert?

Well, we're going to see Cody Simpson tomorrow night at the House of blues with 2 teens and a 10 yr. old. They are very excited, but the tickets are standing room only, so does that mean I can sit for a while before the concert starts?

Darlin', I don't know, but bless you for doin' that for your kids.

Sit where? The floor? :confused3

I've seen U2, and while there were seats, they were assigned. My wife and I were on the floor. Sitting would risk being trampled.

I haven't, but we had $159 a person seats at the Rod Stewart concert last week (paid for by my husband's boss!) and everyone STOOD almost the entire concert!. In order to see, we had to stand too. Total waste of money if you ask me.

My kids went to see Motion City Soundtrack at the House of Blues and although they technically had seats, apparently everyone stood there too. They said they weren't even sure which seats were theirs because so many people were standing. They had a great time!

There won't be any seats. Pretty much every concert/show I've gone to in the last 10 years has been standing room only (probably 100+ concerts) and I think there has been seats maybe once and there were 100 seats and 2000 people. Sorry!

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm wondering if I can sit on the floor for a while before the concert starts, since we'll get there early. I know there won't be any seats, but why stand before the concert?
The singers are 14 and 12 year old boys, so there will only be kids and parents at this concert.

At the HOB here there are maybe 20 seats in the back so if you are one of the first people in you might get lucky. When I go to a concert there I assume I will not sit down between leaving my car and getting back into it after the show.

Sitting will probably be on the floor but so what, if you feel like sitting then go ahead, I would. I went to see "Shinedown", "Puddle of Mudd" and "Skillet" on the floor and it was fine, I was too busy dancing, singing & jumping up & down to notice or care, have a wonderful time:goodvibes

We went and saw REO in TX at "Billy Bobs". Basically you are crammed like sardines and if you are short you are basically "listening" to the concert and may not be able to see anything.

No, you will probably have no seating at all. Hence the term "standing room only".

I'll just have to hope all the other parents will want to sit before the concert, too! It's gonna be a long night!
I'd like one of those seats in the back, but my kids want to get as close as possible.

Ewww..no. You won't want to sit on that floor. And you run the risk of being trampled.

Eh I used to sit on the floor at concerts (from huge venues to seedy little bars) before they started all the time. As long as you aren't licking the floor, its fine :lmao: You are going to wash your clothes anyways.

ETA: Is this the HOB in Cleveland? If so, they have seats on the upper level. Sometimes those are open to everyone.

I saw a concert at House of Blues in Dallas a couple of years ago. They had a few couches on the side, we got there early and got one, but most people stood on the floor during the show. It's wasn't a regular theater but rather a large room, at least for the show we saw.

Yes, it is the one is Cleveland. A few weeks after we bought our tickets, I saw that they started selling balcony ones. I'd rather be there. But, the kids still want to be as close to the front as possible on the floor.

I go to standing room only concerts all the time. It depends on the venue or the show.

If I want to be close, I get there early and just stand. I wouldn't sit on the floor, even before the show, because nobody else does and I wouldn't want to be stepped on or kicked. Everybody else kind of jockies to be close to the stage and they would just step right over (or on) whoever might be on the floor.

I've gone to some shows where I want to see the show but not participate in the floor "festivities" (such as moshing and crowd-surfing:laughing:). I've done several of these with my teenagers and there have been balcony-level areas with a few stools. This is fabulous because I could watch all the action without breaking bones!

Are you familiar with the venue? What's it like?

Edited...forget it....I see that it's a House of Blues (where?). If there is a balcony, I'd get there early and park myself there. You can watch your kids closely and give them instructions on waiting/meeting after the show. That's what I do - and I do it for shows that are far rougher than Cody Simpson.

Except for really small shows the balcony seats are sold separately or as part of a VIP package. Even the cover bands and comics I've seen there sold the the balcony seats separately. You may be able to sit there for a little bit before they start checking tickets but I wouldn't count on it.

If you eat at the restaurant before the show you can get a front of the line ticket that might get you in early enough to at least temporarily grab one of the tables in the back of the concert hall.

Only once - The Beatles in 1964 :goodvibes

I didn't mind because I was breathing the same air as Paul McCartney :cool1:

My first general admission concert was 3OH!3 last year. Yeah there were no seats but I didn't mind it at all. My most recent one was All Time Low and there were only seats on the second floor venue. I actually prefer concerts where there is no seating, that way I can jump around and have fun. :goodvibes

The HOB at DTD had some tables and chairs on a 1st come 1st serve basis. There were also seats at the bar towards the back if I remember correctly.
