Halloween candy - when do Walmart and Target typically reduce price?

Do Walmart and Target typically go to 50% the day after Halloween? Or do they start at 25% or 30%? I need to buy a bunch of candy to use for DS's December birthday so I figured I would go to the stores on Nov. 1 if the stuff will be marked down.

They don't usually mark candy down to 50% until Nov 1st.

yes, they wait until the day after Halloween and mark it 1/2 off. They hold out on Halloween for the Dads rushing in at the last minute because they ran out of candy at home!

I'll be there.. I did the same thing you are doing for my DS9 one year. His bday is January 12. If you read the expiration on some of those bags you will be surprised at how long they are good for! And some of the wrappers aren't decorated with Halloween stuff, so it looks like regular fun sized candy. A great way to stuff a pinata!

Toys R Us has their candy 50% off already. I got skittles, starburst, starburst gummies, 3 musketeers for $1.74 each bag. They also had snickers, 2 kinds of M&Ms and one other kind of candy.

The last few years, I haven't seen any after Halloween sales. In fact, some stores have even run out of candy before Halloween. But like a PP said, Toys R Us is having a 50% off sale now, and my local supermarket has Snickers, Milky Ways & something else (forgot which one) for $1.79, and I had some $1 off 2 packages coupons.

Ours goes 50% on the 1st, I'm hoping to get in there myself for some candy and maybe a few decorations. We have a rule, we have $20 per paycheck to spend on Halloween, over that (not counting costumes or candy of course) we have to wait until after Halloween, otherwise we spend way too much...we are one of those houses that has a graveyard in the front, strobe lights, scary lifesize figures, our first year we spent way too much so we made our rule. LOL So hopefully we can get there somewhat early next Sunday to get some fun stuff for next year. The only thing our Target doesn't seem to discount is storage bins, they always have orange ones this time of year but the last 2 years they have not discounted them at all.

Our target had TONS of candy left last year. We waited till it was like 75% off and bought a ton of good chocolate that had the regular wrappers but was in a big halloween bag and used it for Christmas . It was good for a long time,

Last year I stumbled across GIANT bags of Halloween candy marked 75% off at Target. I bought 8 of the massive bags and took them with me on a Disney cruise in January. (The wrappers were not 'halloweeny')

We gave one giant bag to each of our waiters, & cabin steward, and had a blast surprising different groups of employees with a bag to share. The men dressed in yellow painting on deck 4, sent one down to the engine room, the gift shop people .....and.... it left a lot of room in our suitcases for souvenirs!!
